The Space:
The aptly named Waterside Cottage is the ideal Cornish getaway destination for both couples and families. In the living room, you'll also find a smart speaker and an elevated mezzanine day bed, ideal for soaking up the views of the river to your favourite music and podcasts. The property also has direct access to the water with a free, private frape mooring suitable for boats of up to 12ft.
Outside the front door is a useful utility shed housing a freezer and washing machine, as well as providing useful exterior storage.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire cottage, which has its own private entrance.
The Neighborhood:
The cottage is tucked away on a quiet road, looking out to Fowey and right on the water’s edge with tidal beach. Polruan is an ancient shipbuilding community and fishing village. It climbs to the hillside, bridging the River Fowey, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village itself is a maze of narrow street alleys and pretty cottages, much loved by its community. With cafès and a friendly local mini market shop for your holiday essentials. There are also two charming pubs, including a gastro pub overlooking the estuary, which has log fires and sofas for cosy nights in the village - Polruan has maintained much of its unspoilt charm.
You can access the South West Coastal Path straight from the doorstep, heading to Polperro and passing some stunning remote beaches. Viewed from the property and set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Fowey is known for being one of Cornwall’s most beautiful towns. Featuring the child-friendly Ready Money Cove beach and cafe, which is also a great spot for SUP and kayak hire. Wander along cobbled streets soaking up the beauty of grand Georgian houses and medieval buildings. Watch yachts and sailing boats from a waterside pub, enjoy a spot of shopping in the independent boutiques and visit galleries to soak up some local art. If that wasn't enough, the area is also awash with events, such as the famous Fowey regatta.
You can reach across to Fowey on the regular passenger ferry - it takes just a few minutes. The ferry runs a daily service, finishing at 11 pm during the summer and 7 pm in winter (outside of hours, private taxi ferries are available for booking). So you have plenty of opportunity to enjoy much of the bustling food scene, with numerous restaurants including a Michelin-starred, excellent seafood, tapas and a pop-up featured in Rick Stein’s Cornwall.

Getting Around:
Whilst it's always helpful to have a vehicle when exploring Cornwall, the ideal location of the cottafe means you can easily enjoy the local area without the need for one. You can head across to Fowey on the ferry, for example. The nearby stations of Par and St Austell are on the train line from London Paddington, and just a 10 or 25 minute drive away by cab.
If you are bringing a vehicle, there is a public car park at the top of St Saviours Hill which charges £30 per car per week. There are electric charging points in the car park.
Other Things to Note:
The cottage is split over two floors, which are accessed via stairs. Due to its waterside location, access to the property is down several steps, including approximately 20 steep slate steps. It therefore may not be suitable for those with mobility limitations.
We welcome 1 dog with an additional fee of £20. It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms and not left in the property unattended.
