About this house rental
This detached characterful stone cottage, sits in 4.5 acres and is 1.5 miles away from Nether Stowey. A great destination for outdoor adventures, the Quantock Hills National Landscape is on your doorstep offering miles of rambles and stunning scenery. Postcard-pretty villages and heritage attractions punctuate this protected area, with must-see sites including fossil-hunting on Kilve Beach (4 miles), Fyne Court (8 miles) and Dunster with its castle (14.5 miles). The vibrant village of Nether Stowey has welcoming pubs and shops and was once home to poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, whose cottage is now a National Trust property. The village is also starting point for the 51-mile Coleridge Way and has a Norman castle mount from which you can enjoy far-reaching views to the Brecon Beacons, the Mendips, Glastonbury Tor and the North Somerset coast. Or, catch a train to the seaside town of Minehead from Bishops Lydeard (9.5 miles) on the historic West Somerset steam railway.
Step inside the hallway and make your way into the striking kitchen/diner that is sure to be at the heart of your holiday. With all the essentials for effortless self-catering and complemented by a handy utility room, it has a central island, and a roomy dining suite arranged before a feature stone wall. Double doors lead through to the lounge, which overlooks the private garden and French doors open onto the patio. A Smart TV provides home-from-home entertainment. Three ground-floor double bedrooms are accessed from the entrance hall – one has an en-suite bathroom with a separate bath and shower – along with a family shower room. There is also a handy WC off the hallway. The fourth bedroom is on the first floor and is built into the eaves of the property; with low, sloping ceilings, twin beds and a Smart TV, it’s adjacent to a snug with a Smart TV and X-box. There is also a single sofa bed and a single z-bed in the snug, which are available on request when you book your holiday.
Outside, there’s space to park up to four cars and a secluded private garden with a patio, outdoor seating and a charcoal BBQ. A wood-fired hot tub adds a touch of luxury to your leisure time – the first basket of logs is provided so you can start warming the water as soon as you’ve settled in. To the rear of the cottage is a 4.5-acre shared lawned garden – surrounded by woodland, from its highest point you can enjoy far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside and across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast. Guests here also have access to a shared games barn. There is also a large outdoor swimming pool that is only available should there be no guests staying in the sister property Castle of Comfort.
