Pretty little cottage nestled in the hills, and next to slate workings. Has a wood burning stove. Particularly convenient for walkers and adventurers (zip wire, slate caverns, canoeing etc).
These are observations not complaints: There's WiFi (joining details on the kitchen noticeboard) but no phone signal or tv reception. Door lintels are low, so take care. Lights switches are on the roof beams upstairs - took us a while to find them.

The cottage was cute and steeped in history
When we arrived the cottage hadn't been cleaned. We had a number to call if there were any issues and luckily clean bedding was brought to us before bedtime. It was very dusty in places with alot of cobwebs which makes me think a proper clean hasn't taken place in a while and therefore not covid compliant.

Wow what a brilliant location, the owners seem to really know how to cater towards their guests, logs and wood fire starters for roughly 1 - 2 nights provided, extremely comfy beds, windows that gaze out across the night sky and towards the moon, within walking distance of the forest and slate scattered hills, the cottage is also looked after and catered for, first aid kit is provided as well as fire extinguishers just in case.
There's also a booklet handy that gives you information on nearby establishments, where to get wood from, bin management, e.t.c.
All in all, I really enjoyed my stay here, though when they say mind your head.. they mean it! A lot of history behind the cottage too which makes for some interesting extra reading for those who are keen readers.
The wrong pin was given for the keys. I arrived as a solo traveller at 5pm and I travelled from Aberystwyth plus I don't drive, so I took my journey from Aberystwyth to Cwm Penmachno by Train and two Buses, there's only one bus that runs twice a day to and from Cwm Penmachno, once at 8am and again at 4:45ish in the afternoon.
If I didn't take it upon myself to knock on people's houses and ask around, I wouldn't have made it in, big thanks to John & Jackie for helping me with this! It was absolutely freezing carrying around a duffel bag containing 3 days of food/drink and a rucksack with some extras which did not make this aspect of the experience any more enjoyable.
There was no signal either, meaning I couldn't ring the owner for help on this issue, not to mention how early it gets dark in the winter hours. I understand this was a genuine mistake, but please! It's so important that the correct pin is given, I even made sure to take pictures of the pin before I left due to the whole no signal thing to ensure I had the pin at hand.
Other than this side of things, it was a very nice stay.

Lack of proper heating
Lounge did not feel cosy

The location was second to non, exceptional views and the lack of any sort of phone, Tele or radio signal made everything incredibly peaceful
The doors are very small, to be expected for this kind of property of course, but I did get a little fed up of banging my head. Nit picking though really.
