good location.
lights were on very late

The hostel itself is very nice and well-organized
There are no plugs at each bed. You have to leave your gadgets far away for charging.
Also, I think the mattresses have to be turned over from time to time. Mine was a bit uncomfortable, seems like it always stays in the same position.

I checked in at 1am and the staff were fantastic. I then checked out at 3am (a different day) and they were even more helpful!
Easy to get to.
Clean and safe.
The area wasn’t bad but it is right near a homeless shelter so you do see a lot of hard drugs around.
Day time is okay but be careful walking around the area at night/early hours of the morning.
Just be alert.
Property itself is perfect and safe.

Parfait établissement pour visiter quelques jours Calgary. C’est central, accessible et l’endroit est propre et convivial. Le petit déjeuner était simple mais bon. J’avais une chambre pour deux privée, donc je n’ai pas testé les chambres à plusieurs.

Kitchen perfect!Breakfast good❤️❤️

The hostel was very clean and in a great location! I appreciated that the kitchen had an area for guests to store their food as well as an area for free food so as to not go to waste. The business center and game room were great as well, and it was never really that busy when I was there. However, it can get loud when people start playing pool but it wasn't bothersome for me but I could see it being an issue if someone wanted a quiet area while using the computer. It might be worth considering having the computers in the reading room upstairs. It would also help to have outlets or power strips that have USB ports.
The breakfast needs improvement. As a vegan, my option were bread and peanut butter, juice and tea. It lacked in comparison to the non-vegan options. Please consider adding other options and healthier ones, if possible, like wheat bread instead of white bread, bagels, more fruit, oatmeal, and non dairy milk to name a few. Having non-dairy milk especially would have been great for the cereal.
One other thing to note is the locker doors need greasing. I checked in before midnight and I felt bad when I opened the locker door and it loudly creaked while other people were sleeping in the room. The lockers are spacious though and that was great!
Finally, I think you need to ensure that staff are more knowledgeable about Calgary because I asked one of the staff members for recommendations in the area, and they couldn't really tell me much about it and they weren't enthusiastic either. I do realize there are a bunch of helpful info sheets on the wall about neighborhoods to explore, places to check out, etc, but I would love to get more insight from staff. I feel like training them on FAQs from guests would be a start.

The hostel was clean, and the location was prime. The staff was very friendly. It had all the amenities you need (like detergent and other stuffs) but for a price.
It would have been better if the hostel had an open bar/cafe. The back side of the hostel looks like it was supposed to be used for that, but it has been closed. Having a place like that would make the bonding between the hostel mates easier.

The location is excellent. Easy to reach by public transit.
The bed a little bit too soft and the breakfast a little bit late.

friendly vibe, good facilities, great breakfast
not an issue of the property - bear in mind that the hostel is in a part of the city where is a lot of homeless people around. they dont bother you but maybe it will be helpful for you to know in advance

Location, clean, rooms, kitchen, housekeeping team
Lack of air conditioning in hot weather, front desk hospitality and I was not shown the facilities and how they work (hours of operation, living rooms, laundry, game room).

The HI Calgary City Centre Hostel is extremely well located! It is located a few blocks from the National Music Museum, the Bow River walks, Inglewood and the train.
The second time we stayed in a private room the bathroom was mouldy.

Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent. It is 3 blocks from the train, Bell Studio National Music Museum, Bow River and the library.
The bathroom in our basement room smelled mouldy. No dairy alternatives for the cereal for the morning breakfast.

I was only there 1 night on my way somewhere else. It was fine. No complaints

There was no electric point near my bed

They served free breakfast everyday
Stuffing 6 men into a small room at $50 dollars a pop is ridiculous and closing the TV room at 11:00pm
