Breakfast was very good. Location was great, easy walk to 18 hole golf course and SPAC.
Room bathroom could have been larger

Food was only OK.

Excellent location, quiet, very comfortable bed
Restaurant had good food but seemed disorganized and understaffed, seems like a management issue.

Location close to Saratoga Track; classic architecture and grounds. The restaurant manager/hostess who apologized for light dinner menu on concert nights that ruined my anniversary dinner plans I had made at the Gideon Putnam.
Reserved table for a up-scale, romantic anniversary dinner in the Gideon Putnam restaurant only to be told that light dinners (flatbreads, salads, burgers) are on the dinner menu nights there are concerts at the neighboring Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I made the room and dinner reservations noting it was for my anniversary and no prior information was provided. Not expected at a $300+/ night hotel

This hotel charge me an amenity fee without at the check out without any previous information by any means. Nothing was said about the additional services I should have accessed at the front desk nor by email or message in booking. Truly disappointed. I did not use any of the services but they charged.

Hotel is in a peaceful and beautiful setting.
Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Close to town but secluded from all the tourist traffic and activities. Would stay here again

The hotel is located in a beautiful park and this was very nice to walk around. From the exterior the hotel looked pleasant and we had high expectations. The bed was very comfortable in the end but came with issues.
I’d recommend not staying here! What an incredible disappointment. From the outside and surrounding scenery our expectations were high. How quickly that was shattered. On arrival we weren’t greeted, and the staff behind reception were abrupt and gave us no information about the amenities or check out. We had to battle through a huge amount of drunken guys there for a conference, the lobby and toilets in the lobby had not been cleaned. It got worse, we went into the room (426) and discovered that the room had not been cleaned. The bed was made but on closer inspection hair and dirt were in it!! Looking around the bathroom we could see used soap, towels and hair all over the sink, plug and bath. We complained to the front desk but they said they wouldn’t move us and would send housekeeping. The janitor turned up as there was no house keeper! He did his best to clean the room and we had clean sheets but no duvet cover which we later discovered had blood and yellow stains on it! Disgusting. The nights sleep was terrible, this room is next to the old and noisy elevator and the AC can’t be turned on as it’s so loud. In the morning we noticed dead flies on the window and we used the fitness centre which had used towels and cups unclean from the day before. The restrooms in the lobby hadn’t been touched since the day before either! We complained to the front desk and the said because we booked from a website they couldn’t do anything about a refund. Hardly a heartfelt apology. Avoid this dated & dirty hotel with awful service!

The Gideon Putnam is a perfect spot with a surrounding park….. gorgeous grounds!
I did not care for the portable bathrooms located near the parking lot! what an eye sore. They we’re needed for an event on the front grounds.

housekeeping prepping my room did not leave adequate supplies, no toilet to last a single nights stay, no creamer for in room coffee, debris under the radiator in bathroom and under the dresser in sleeping area

The building was lovely and has clearly been well maintained.
One of our rooms had never been cleaned, the bed was not made nor were there sheets or towels. We had to go back to the front desk twice to get this dealt with... The other rooms tv didn't work. The internet was down upon arrival so it took forever to check in and they were writing down everyone's cc numbers which I didn't care for. We were tehre for a concert and traveled quite a ways to get there, we were hungry and discovered that the resturant didn't open until 5 even though the bar opened at 4 for check in...When we returned from the concert at 10:30 there were loads of people wanting to get food from the resturant and they turned us all away saying they were closed. Why on earth would you close food and bar so early when you have hundreds of guests staying at your hotel for the local shows (the venue is a 5 minute walk from the hotel)

Room was very nice, bed extremely comfortable. Grounds are beautiful & very convenient if attending an event at SPAC.
Staff was rude & unhelpful. Requested late checkout 2 days before my stay & again the day of check in. Was told that I was “all set” and a note was made for my room. The next morning, I called down to confirm our late checkout once more & we were told that it would not be possible & that there was no note on our account. Was then rudely told that they would prefer we get as soon as possible (this was at 10:15am, checkout is at 11) because they have hundreds of guests checking in.
Food at the restaurant was good, but overpriced & the service was awful.
If I’m paying $400 a night for a room, I expect the service to be outstanding.

This is a beautiful setting and a grande dame hotel with a lot of style and creaky joints. I loved that it is NOT slick, polished or too modernized—but its all heart. If you can accept the “historical feel”, it is a gracious comfortable place to come home to. The staff is lovely and working so hard to keep things going during a resurgence in travelers. The shuttle was very convenient—to the track and downtown. Walking the grounds of the park in the morning -or evening- a wonderful bonus. We loved our stay.
Room was clean but a light bulb would have been nice! Breakfast too pricey -tho the room and outdoor terrace were pleasant to dine in but continental option would be appreciated.
