Location and price
The cleanliness was a bit lacking
10.0
it was clean and not run down. The MODA center is within walking distance as well as tons of great restaurants. The staff was competent and friendly. The bed was comfortable and clean. Parking was free. It was first come first serve, but the lot never filled up completely.
My one nit pick would be that the door to the hotel room felt like it was made of hollow plastic. I could push it in easily in the center with just one hand. I don’t doubt that it would have been easy to break through or down.

The location was perfect for what I needed. The room was clean upon arrival and the front staff was friendly at checkin and checkout. 24 hour check in was important to me. The king sized bed was very comfortable. Having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was nice. There is an awesome food truck right across the street that serves delicious food late night.
No coffee maker in the room, however free coffee in the lobby. The rooms were quite small. The bathroom was tiny, and a bit dated. The hairdryer provided in the room did not work properly and the blankets were on the thin side.

Lobby is the only portion that has received updates. The guest rooms need a deep clean. Only one lock on the door. Lodge suggests you secure your valuables, but there isn't a safety deposit box.

Very good location, free parking, safety.

On the plus side, the location was convenient for access to public transit, restaurants, and fairly walkable location in general. I appreciated that the room had both a microwave and fridge.
Didn't quite realize that this hotel was directly across the street from a strip club (I checked maps in advance of booking, and it's conveniently not listed). Nothing against strip clubs, I just wanted to be somewhere further removed from the nightlife scene and noise associated with it, and this was not it. The walls were paper thin, I could hear EVERYTHING happening in the rooms next to me. Room didn't appear to have been fully cleaned when I checked in -- still someone else's hair in the sink/shower, and bits of trash scattered around the floor. Also, I saw other reviews mention how friendly the staff was, which was not at all my experience -- only one person on staff that I interacted with was actually friendly/welcoming. Everyone else I interacted with seemed like they couldn't be bothered to greet me / interact with me / be welcoming at all. Would not stay here again.

Nothing. They cancelled my reservation within hours of my arrival by leaving a phone message that my booking was messed up by Booking.com
I was lucky to find another hotel, where I stayed at a higher price. They told me that I should get a refund from Booking.com

Runned down..needs to be updated

Convenient location. Easy to get to. Close to restaurants
It had a musty smell, and you could clearly see lube handprints on the headboard

It was close to a lot of decent food option for breakfast. And some good dinner options too. We'll maintained'clean rooms that felt safe.
I would have preferred a physical locking mechanism rather than something that shut off the card reader.

For $99 we really got a deal. There are no free breakfasts or anything fancy, but the room was clean and was fresh. We slept well, and if someone wants an inexpensive place to stay, I recommend it. the host was helpful and good natured.
Our room with two queen beds was tight! There was less than a foot between the side of a bed and the bathroom sliding door. It felt like it was meant for one bed.

Check in was super quick and easy, staff was 10/10 friendly and really made the stay.
There wasn't anything I didn't like. Rooms were dated in decor but very clean. The shower was great with nice hot water. Felt safe, good location.

Yes, it's older basic budget lodging, but it was very clean, owner at lobby desk gave amazing customer service, even handing me keys to check out two different rooms for my preference. We were worried if parking would overfill if out late and she mentioned option to go into lobby and they would help to have 3 or so cars that could park under portico at entrance. Rooms had refrigerator, (I think microwave) desk area, end table lights with plug-ins on base, bathroom sink had shelf below, all the things that make a room handy. Blankets super clean, bed and pillows comfy.
Yes, it's older styles, parking free but not guaranteed availability. However we were there on Saturday night for a late night event and husband found parking at 2am.

Everything was perfect and comfortable. Very friendly staff- lady gave us room 5hours before check in. So we could explore city without backpackes! Really nice and highly recommend!

It’s a very simple, but lovely hotel. the room was tidy decently furnished. Everything seemed to have a somewhat recent coat of paint. the shower and bathroom were great. Location is brilliant - very easy to reach by public transportation. Also, many interesting places to eat at and see around there.
Cleanliness could be improved, especially corners in the bathroom. It could also be better ventilated. After a few hours with open windows it was okay.

Definitely had a fine place, and I saw people complain about not having enough towels, pillows or anything, just please ask, they had a clear sign at the entrance to ask for them if you need more.
The bed could have been slightly softer, but otherwise was still comfortable enough, the TV was great had some fun with a game night or two, the AC was excellent and kept my stay cool enough for me to sleep.
It was sad to see there was a big scratch mark on both the tv stand and the table next to it, I can't understand why anyone would cause damage to any of the rooms, the staff from what I've seen was very friendly and helpful.
In general I was very satisfied with the place
The only noise issues I had was mostly noise that could not really be fixed by the hotel, well unless they were to add more noise canceling options to their rooms, but it was mostly the noise from the bar that is nearby which seems to frequently having a party with loud music going on later in the night.
I could definitely hear through the walls at times but eh I'm personally not to bothered by it.
I don't think I ever had any issues with random people knocking on my door besides what seemed to be possibly other people staying who were either drunk or just thought it be funny to knock on my door while the Do Not Disturb was up, but I didn't really care enough to do something about it besides removing my sign.
A minor issue I had was that I found my card no longer working, turns out keeping it stored near my phone demagnetises it and makes it useless, something I would probably warn future users about just to prevent this from happening more.

Great value for the money. I really appreciated the free parking, cleanliness of the room, and super friendly service at the front desk. Great location in East Portland near tons of restaurants, bars, etc.
I really wish I had known there was a nightclub right across the street that plays super loud music until 2 a.m. I could easily hear it from my room even with the TV and fan on. Not the hotel's fault, but still annoying to deal with.

Comfortable bed.
Location in the older part of town... run down.
Evidence that downtown Portland hasn't recovered from the riots or the pandemic.
But... Sizzle Pie pizza across the street is
outstanding.

Location is great! I liked the mini fridge and microwave too. It's clean and staff pleasant and helpful.
The bed is too hard, only 2 pillows for king bed, no in room coffee.
