Just the environment! Så beautiful! The feeling is that you are at someones home with excellent taste. Just the fact that breakfast is included, that you can go to the kitchen at anytime and make yourself a toast or a tea adds to that feeling. I stayed one day, and I met some great people staying there. And the host was really attentive and nice.

The location was fantastic. Close to several restaurants/bars and located in a great neighborhood overall.
Booking.com made a mistake on our initial reservation and we showed up to find a different room than we expected and the room we thought we were getting occupied. When I reached out to the Villa's staff to question the mistake, they were great in handling the situation and ultimately we were allowed to come back for a second night, free of charge, and stay in the Tuscan Suite we initially thought we were getting. Big thanks to Don and Brooke for taking GREAT care of us.

Super cute with the old fashioned decor!
It was winter, so hot tub and back porch were not ideal but can’t blame it on the owner!

We didn't get breakfast. We had to make our own and we didn't wake up in time. The entire place is absolutely beautiful! The garage is so convenient, I'm glad we were able to park in it (for an extra fee).
The room was very hot and stuffy over night. There was no airflow. I didn't sleep well due to a stuffy nose caused by the dry stuffy room. I also woke up with a swollen face, it seemed like the bed was at an angle so we were positioned on our heads. I missed that there was no elevator when I booked, we had to carry luggage up two flights of stairs.

Villa d' Citta is a lovely pricey Bed & Breakfast, French ornate with a large downstairs, a beautiful kitchen and sitting room and a nice outdoor patio area at back. The bedroom is roomy and the bed super comfortable.
Elevator to top floor (where our bedroom was) didn't work. We visited during a hot weekend in August and our bedroom at the front of the building was warm though downstairs the AC was cranked (maybe 2nd floor bedrooms were cooler?). Good breakfast and coffee but timing was overly relaxed....so, like, no coffee prepared at 7 :30 a.m. one day.

- Beautiful property! You need to see it to believe it.
- Well stocked kitchen. Keep in mind you have to make all your own food. But there’s everything you could need for a great breakfast or a snack.
- Hot tub at night on the deck is amazing. It’s big! (Jets weren’t working on one side)
- Rooms is large and bed was very comfy.
Overall a very relaxed environment!
With only 6 rooms, we rarely saw other guests and almost always had the kitchen to ourselves.
- check in was a mess. There were staffing issues which meant we had arrived in time to check in but our room wasn’t ready as advertised.
We ended up waiting for three hours past check in time and still couldn’t check into the room.
Obviously with Covid… this wasn’t something the staff would have wanted and it wasn’t on purpose or their fault. But it was still a negative experience and it meant we had to shower in a spare room and change in the lobby.
My actual issue is that besides a quick apology, there was no real acknowledgment of the impact and no real attempt to make it right.
We had paid to check in at 3 and didn’t get access to the room until after 6.
A gesture of some kind to “make it right” would have been in order. Something as simple as a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine… to a discount on the room that night would have been in order and helped get everyone off on the right foot.
- after a negative first impression, at midnight someone on the property offered to rent us a second room that they had open for $100. This also left a bad taste in the mouth. We’d had a negative experience checking in and now we’re being offering to have a second room, which we don’t need or want and you want $100 dollars from us? It was an u professional moment made worse because of the check in experience.
Besides these issues the only other thing to consider is the heat.
There is only one air control for the entire place. The room severely overheated the first night. We opened the window only to come back after a day out to find that someone had entered our room to close the window because it was “broken” and the gentleman told us not to open ANY of the windows in the room. Again, it left a negative impression.
We found the air conditioning controls and were able to lower the temperature the next few nights.
Honestly, a bit more effort to make things right would have made a good stay GREAT. I’d give them another chance.

Great location and it’s a really pretty house! Brooke was really helpful and our room was clean and comfy. Love having the kitchen and hot tub too! We were walking distance to a ton of bars and restaurants.
I can’t really think of anything I didn’t like!

The building is a beautiful example of a Chicago Greystone in the midst of A prime Lincoln Park Neighborhood. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. The common areas including the gourmet kitchen and furnishings are top notch and thoughtfully decorated in an Italian theme.
There were a few basic maintenance items in the rooms that needed attention. One room is below the main floor and can get a little loud in the morning. The staff happily switched my room so I was satisfied.

Beautiful place.
The main draw to stay here was the rooftop hot tub, which wasn't working. Some guests were playing extremely loud rap music and smoking pot, the whole place smelled terrible when we came back after dinner.
