We had an amazing time. Perfect location and the host was wonderful. We will be back!

We stayed at Pam's mermaid house this weekend and it was so much fun!! Pam was so sweet and showed us around upon our arrival and even let our daughter feed her bunny rabbits! You can't beat the location!! The outdoor space was wonderful and offered a ton of amenities! We made so many special memories with our 2 year old that we'll cherish forever!!! Our daughter thought the house was so magical with all the mermaid decor. The house fits the description listed perfectly! Highly recommend and looking forward to staying there again!

We had a great time at PAM’s mermaid house. Location was amazing for river access. We spent most of our time in the water . The patio area is amazing. Our family definitely enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to coming back ❤️

Everything is exactly as pictured! Our kids thought it was the most magical place to stay. Having coffee in the morning while the manatees swam by was magical. Pam is a wonderful hostess.
4.7
Pam was an amazing host and that spring is a little piece of blessings on earth. You will enjoy yourself if you like the water.

We had a blast! We loved Pam’s mermaid house! Everything was wonderful

5 star stay. Pam the owner was extremely accommodating and always checked on us to make sure our stay was spectacular. The outside is where it is at. You are right on the main Weeki Wachee River with an incredible LARGE pation with stairs that walk right into the river. We grilled, we kayaked, we sat outside to watch all the other kayakers go by. It was an incredible long weekend. I would stay here again. Thank you Pam for everything!
4.7
Great spot on the river, unique place we made fun memories at.

Pam and her pup Julie were wonderful hosts! Very attentive and kind. Her home was so fun, and it was great to have such an expansive outdoor space. The location was also excellent, and fun to have steps right down to the water.
Note that it is really for 4 people max, not 5 as listed.

Pam and her mermaid house were perfect. Awesome spot on the River. Pam was a friendly and gracious host and the house was perfect fit for a weekend getaway and we were able to comfortable fit our 3 elementary aged kids in the queen bed. We spent most of our time in the back yard and in the river and even in August got to see manatees and a dolphin and tons of other wildlife you don’t usually get to see in the wild. Perfect end to summer
4.7
We really enjoyed our stay. Located right on the river, we saw many manatee and even a dolphin several times. Hostess was great and very helpful! We will be returning!

Had no way to cook and no dishwasher
And not foldout couch to sleep on

Pam was an amazing host who went out of her way to make our stay fun and interesting. The place is adorable and right on the river - we saw manatees swim right up to our stairs :) Beds were comfortable, and the space had everything we needed for a great stay. Thank you, Pam! We will be back someday soon I hope.

You must stay in this house to truly enjoy all the time and effort put into its creation. Pam was very good at getting in touch with me to help check in our group and acquaint us with the property. It is truly a unique and enjoyable space. In her write up she was very clear about what the space came with. I loved cooking on the outside bar. There is a refrigerator both outside and in the Florida room. Where else can you be cooking and see a manatee swim by? Her BBQ worked great! I camp a lot so I bring my own camp kitchen with paper plates and other items that make for a more enjoyable and easy time for outdoor cookery. It is Florida and in the wilds of the Weekie Wachee river so there will be some no seeums and plenty of river wildlife too! I’m in awe of the work Pam has done to create every fairy tale loving inner child’s dream come true. Each area needs time to really look around and take in the details and love that went into its creation. I can not wait to return to this house again. Pam also is such a kind and helpful woman. She pointed us to many local eateries and answered all our questions. She is as unique as the house she created. Pam is a true artist and what I would consider a super host. We took her 3 single kayaks up the river. Gorgeous. It was also heart warming to see how many people were enchanted by the art painted on the river wall and the beauty of the whole property. I love this place and I love Pam for giving my friends and I an unforgettable experience.

Pam’s place was fabulous. We enjoyed the patio, the grill, and just relaxing outside on the river. There’s no better view. The steps lead right into the water. It’s fabulous. We loved it. Thanks, Pam. 😊

This review is the DIRTY truth! This is NOT a house or apartment it is a 2-bedroom mother-in-law suite with no door to close off your space. There is no kitchen just a few old dirty appliances. There is no food prep area, nowhere to plate food or make a sandwich. There is also nowhere to sit and eat, just wobbly table trays and a couch. Unless you eat outside at the bar. The property is extremely dated, and disgustingly dirty. It has not been professionally cleaned in a very long time and definitely wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival. Upon entry I immediately noticed dirty floor mats at the doorways and in the bathroom, blood on the linens in both bedrooms, stained bath linens, all the fabrics were filthy or covered in an inch of dust. The shower was covered in hair and dirt. Feces splattered on the toiled bowl; the sink had toothpaste spit in it, the faucet also dirty and spit on. Dirt and hair all over the entire house. Years of build-up on the floors, baseboards, and all of the fabrics in the home. I was in a panic since I promised my kids this manatee mermaid experience. Thank God for Target. 4 bath towels, two sets of sheets, two blankets, and lots of bleach wipes later I was able to make it livable for 3 nights. Only we basically stayed outside the entire time. The washing machine was covered in dirty and build-up. There is an overwhelming stench of air freshener throughout, migraines beware. There are 3 kayaks on property, they are old, and missing plugs. You will sink if you try to use them, I know because it happened to my 85lb 13 y/o. The house sleeps 4 at most.I contacted the host and provided picture evidence. The host denied all of this and said the pictures were from my house, lol! iPhone photos are time, date, & location stamped. The host is and lurking around every corner, literally No privacy. The only positive was the location on the river, it’s perfect! The backyard is amazing, with easy concrete staircase entrance into the water, a large concrete bulkhead to tie off to or jump in. So, if you're into amazing views, other people's filth, and a lurking host. This could be the place for you. Contacted Vrbo multiple times to resolve….No resolution.

A beautuful property with a huge waterfront main river property. Easy in and out with widesteps into water.

very nice to be right on the river saw a lot of manatees and enjoyed the day.

Great spot
Me and the kids had a blast. Great spot on the river for watching wild life and kayaking in crystal clear water. The kids loved the mermaid theme of the house. Great swimming with a sandbar right across from the house too.

Beautiful Location
Easy rental experience, good communication from homeowner, Pam prior to arrival. Home and property were clean. Attention to decor detail was impecible. Pam has obviously put a ton of time and personal touches into the home; the painting details were impressive inside and out! We have two young daughters who loved the mermaid theme and bright colors which helped make this stay magical and memorable for them! The location of this home is beautiful; the natural spring fed river runs behind the home, making it a perfect spot to swim, wade, tube, paddleboard or kayak right off the back of the property (and there were plenty of manatee sightings during our stay)! Pam had kayaks, life vests, and a double tube with ropes to use. We stayed with our family of five and brought two additional guests which we paid an extra Resort Fee for them to stay, as per the listing. Pam was apprehensive about us bringing additional guests, which once we arrived we saw why. Please note the 5th sleeping arrangement is outside on the screened in lanai with ceiling fans, but there is not A.C. We were prepared and had a blow-up mattress to accommodate our guests on the lanai, so sleeping was comfortable and the weather was cool during sleeping hours, since we caught some evening rain to bring temperatures down. We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed all that the property had to offer. Some details to pay close attention to: there is no conventional kitchen; there is a microwave, toaster, air fryer, and fridge in the lanai, also an outdoor propane grill and a sink on the side of the house; which does make cooking similar to what glamping would be like. Pam does live on the property and when you enter the home your area is directly to the left with the door to her side of the home to the right. There is a doorway, without a door, to separate your section of the house. We did not find Pam to be intrusive of our space but she was very much present during our stay. Pam is pleasant and knowledgeable about what the surrounding area has to offer. I would say that the highlight of this property is the outdoor area; the river, the outside bar setup, and the screened in lanai make it an "outdoor oasis".

I hate writing bad reviews. I try to be as positive as possible. That being said, I feel like all of the current reviews I read on this property are very misleading and led us to a decision we regretted. I’ll put a few highlights so you don’t have to read the whole thing.
(Dead rat. Dust and dirt everywhere. No privacy. Windows to your area everywhere. Door doesn’t lock. She doesn’t leave you alone. Will talk to your husband in a bathrobe, requires cleaning but property isn’t clean)
When we arrived at the property, Pam was quick to greet us. My husband walked away to walk our dog. The first thing she says to me is “he’s got bags right?” Not a bad thing to ask but she was looking at our beagle like he disgusted her and she was worried. I laughed it off.
She shows me around the house and I immediately notice dust everywhere in the corners, no duvet covers on the beds and dust all over the valances. My allergies had a terrible time. The description on has one little line that is easy to miss about property owner on premises, but man that’s misleading. She can see In every part of “your side”. There’s glass doors and windows to her side everywhere and you can see from the porch where she pulls back the already translucent curtains and peeks. We heard her clinking around the entire trip and felt like we were in a fishbowl. Even when we were outside walking our dog she was watching from her little porch up top. No privacy. At all.
We went out to eat our first night and discovered there is no true way to lock the residence. There is a sliding door that won’t stay latched in a bedroom. We left anyways and came back to knowing for a fact she was in our rooms. There is a “light show” remote she has hanging in the full bed room and it was clicked on.
The beds are awful. There was a stain on the sheets with the queen bed. When I took the sheets off as requested, the mattress looked like it was from the 90’s.
we decided to enjoy the River the next day. We had brought our own floating mat but she told us to use hers. We put it out and she comes outside before we can even get on and starts cleaning the sea wall and won’t leave us alone. She puts her dog on the mat, so we went inside to wait her out. Took about an hour.
There was a dead rat in the float shack.
The outdoor kitchen has spaced apart appliances with no sink. (But requires you to wash dishes.) No oven.
The day we left she came out in a tight robe and only addressed my husband.

Disappointed with customer service that has failed so far.
We contacted vrbo, voiced our complaints, we wanted to stay for 2 nights, we left after approximately 3-4 hours which during that time included going to the store and being locked out when we returned. Owner would not answer the door, we found a way in through the back. Overwhelming air freshener throughout the house would force you to sleep and spend most of your time on a covered screened in area, which this time of year in Florida is almost unbearable. There were other concerns we voiced to a vrbo rep. After over 1 hr waiting and talking we were given a case number and told we would be contacted in 24-36 hrs. Have heard from no one. Very disappointed with vrbo’s knowledge of the property they represent and there failure so far to help there customer.

Pam the owner of this house is phenomenal. I had a trip lined up with my parents when suddenly I found myself at the hospital with my 17 year old daughter who was seriously Ill. She was gracious enough to adjust my trip dates and reschedule my trip. Unfortunately, my daughter was readmitted right before my new trip plan. I spoke with Pam in despair. Pam not only gave me comfort, she was incredibly gracious and understanding despite me and my circumstances interfering with her business. When life improves, I will most definitely be booking another trip here. This river is healing and gorgeous and magical. Pam is so lucky to own such an amazing house right on these crystal clear waters.
I have kayaked by this home many times on my other trips to the WeekiWachee river. I always thought this house would be amazing to stay at as the beautiful sea wall painted with mermaids called to me.
You will never regret a stay here on this most incredible water.

Great location on the river, seawall was in perfect condition made it easy to enter and exit the river launch kayaks. Clean house and bathroom. Host was a pleasure to deal with.
You can tell the host takes pride in her property. We would stay here again.

The river this house is on is absolutely beautiful and as I love mermaids I have been kayaking by this place for years. When I saw it was available to rent I was so excited. We saw a few manatees plus lots of other wildlife. Pam is on-site and very helpful to anything you need. The beds were comfortable and we slept great after paddling the river during the day. We used the grill outside to cook dinner and the electric griddle outside to cook breakfast. Be aware the only real sink is in the bathroom so you have to clean your cookware with a hose in the back yard. There is a toaster, microwave, air fryer and full fridge inside and griddle, gas grill and small fridge outside. Bring paper plates and silverware. The yard was beautifully landscaped and was fenced in which was great for my little dog. If your dog will jump in the river you would need to secure them, mine was not a fan so we didn’t have to worry about that. Overall we had a great vacation.

Staying at Pam’s Mermaid House was a total highlight of our trip. Pam is so warm, welcoming, funny and generous. We loved spending time with her and hearing her stories about her life. She was extremely communicative but not overbearing. She made the stay at her property so delightful that we wished we could have stayed a few more nights! Outstanding location, clean rooms, lovely amenities. The kayaks in the backyard were such a plus. We took early morning kayak rides right off the back of the house that were sensational. Couldn’t recommend this place more, both for the actual home and it’s wonderful host Pam. A true highlight!

This house is straight out of a fantasy. Definitely a fun, whimsical, mermaid haven. The reason you want to stay here is its location on the crystal clear waters of Weeki Wachee.
We took Pam's kayaks out on the river several times, but my favorite thing was tying a rope to the sea wall and just floating in one spot behind the house.
This house is more like glamping than anything else. As noted in the details and the reviews, there is no kitchen. There is a fridge, gas grill, air fryer, toaster and the sink is outside on the side of the house hooked up to a hose.
The inside of the house is decorated with embellishments to make it more unique.
We stayed here for my wife's birthday and we had a great time. We pretty much stayed hanging out on lanai, the backyard or on the patio.
We say families of manatees float by, turtles, fish, deer, and a couple bald eagles that like to hang out in the trees right behind the house.
4.7
No place like it on earth...
We all know the standard vacation rental set up - uninspired, visually drab, low cost stuff that gets the job of generating secondary income done. Pam's place has so so much more. When you visit Pam's Mermaid House you are stepping into a work of art, someone who has a very clear vision for how a home should look and feel. And what a vision it is! Everywhere you look there is something chosen to delight you. The pictures will give you a sense of the experience. The home is playing off the unbelievable blue color of the Weeki Wachee river and weaving those colors into a mermaid garden theme that made us smile again and again.
The house is ideal for a couple, a couple with a couple of small kids, or perhaps two couples in a pinch. It's a unique layout and the kitchen set up, as described, isn't traditional. But really you didn't come here to cook like a cordon bleu chef, you came here for the river and the manatees. Pam's house is ideally situated on a quiet very clear and clean part of the river. Point one of her kayaks to the left and you're in complete nature, not a house in sight. Kayak to the right and you're a short distance from Hospital Hole where we saw at least 50 manatees relaxing in their winter home. This was truly an experience my wife and I will never forget.
Pam herself is a sweetheart who has led a very unique life. She was available when needed, full of funny stories and interesting bits of local history. She gave us menus and even homemade snacks which were greatly appreciated. I would drive her amazing gold car any day!
All in all, I would say that if you have an adventurous spirit and are willing to dive into someone's creative vision and have an optimal experience with the Weeki Wachee River - this is the place for you.
