Simple but comfortable stay with good air conditioning. The family were helpful and the food they provided was lovely. Worth doing the snorkelling trip offered, we had a great morning at a secluded beach.
On the final day we were asked to leave because our boat was coming early. We packed up and when leaving realised that this wasn’t true but that the next residents had arrived so they wanted us gone. We ended up being taken to the dock and left for over an hour in the midday heat with young children. It was a shame as it put a disappointing end on an otherwise lovely trip. Also there are no cars on the island and to get to the house you have to take a motorbike for 15 minutes across the island, beautiful but can get a bit steep at times. We had young children with us and no helmets were offered so the experience was a bit anxiety inducing. Though to be fair the kids loved it and in the end all was well.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They were very welcoming and tried their best to make our stay as memorable as possible. We really enjoyed it and the kids loved all the monkeys that came to the house. The food the house owner made was delicious and they made according to our wishes which the kids loved.
If you wish to experience how to live in a Vietnamese home, this was a great experience.
To think that the place is on an island with many nice sand beaches and you would expect that sand would come in any time. There was no place where we could rinse off the sand before coming inside the house which made all the sand come all the way inside to the bedroom and bathroom.
The madrases in the beds was very thin and hard so they were bad for our backs. There was AC in the room but it did not work properly so the room was still quite hot.

It was a few steps away from the beach. The owners are very lovely and so helpful. They even gave us a ride back to the pier. And we had a home cooked meal which was absolutely delicious
Nothing it was perfect

I had a wonderful stay at the homestay. The host was very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect, close to the beach. I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the cultural exchange with the host and other guests. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic experience. Thank you for everything!

Very nice simple accomodation in an authentic village. Friedly and helpful owners. Wonderful food. Calm and relaxing atmosphere.

This cute home stay is a gem. The family running it is so accommodating and caring. They organised bikes to rent, cooked beautiful homemade food fish freshly caught by the man. Great value for money. So beautiful to sit on the roof top for dinner overlooking the ocean. The owners English is very limited but we got by. Great aircon.
The beds are rather hard which is ok when you are young but as a 40+ I felt it.

Pretty good all round,I wasn't disappointed with anything

Food was good, room was clean and rooftopterras was nice. The mom was nice and gave us a fair price.
We decided to switch accomodation for 2 reasons:
1. They were not transparant with their prices. They unexpectedly came to pick us up at the port, which we thought was a nice gesture. But when we arrived at the homestay, the first interaction with them was the owner asking 70k per person for the ride, which was not exactly a warm welcome. We understand that this costs money but they didn't ask if we wanted a ride and didn't tell us in advance what the price was. Coffee is also not free (only 10k per coffee which is of course also more than fair, but it felt like another nice gesture). This all would have been fine if they just stated their prices somewhere.
2. They were very pushy with asking if we wanted to do their activities. We rented their motorbike for the first day to explore the island and look at some restaurants, but they kept asking if we wanted to go snorkeling, eat there, etc. eventhough we already said no several times. We pretty much felt like we had to dodge them to have a relaxing time.
In the end we did pay a fair price (the motorbike was only 150k per day incl. petrol instead of the 200k they initially communicated), but we didn't know that in advance. We just didn't feel comfortable during our stay.
Maybe if you say yes to all their activities you have a great time, but if you want to be a bit more independent I would not recommend it. Of course, when you stay at a homestay you will have more interaction with the hosts, but we stayed in many homestays throughout Vietnam and never had this 'suffocating' experience.

The owners are very lovely people, helped me with everything I needed, took me around the island as I couldn't drive motorbike myself. They made breakfast for me and dinner which I could enjoy in the evening on the rooftop. It was very relaxing stay and I really enjoyed my time here.

The family were incredibly welcoming even from before I arrived on the island. I was collected at the port on arrival and taken to a wonderful home. I ended up staying an extra night and by the end I truly felt like one of the family.
I feel certain that I will be returning back to this place again
Special mention to the food that was offered, cooked from the heart and amazing to share with fellow travellers.

Family was so nice an friendly! they Organise also nice fishing and snorkeling trip! Food is amazing!

Amazing Homestay which we highly recommend. The atmospere and the food prepared by the family are unforgetable. Before our stay we asked for help with organizing the transfer from Cua Dai and renting motorbikes. They booked the speedboat tickets for us as and then when we arrived to the island, we were picked up from the port with the rented motorbikes prepared for us. The host also organized a snorkeling trip for the guests, it was really nice. Thank you so much for the fantastic stay!

We did not know what to expect when we would arrive Cham Island. When we found Mr Lau and his son they took us to their lovely homestay. Mrs Thu and Mr Lau prepared us a nice lunch and afterward we went snorkeling and a boat trip with their son Trung. After the boat trip we explored the island on a scooter and trung showed us the nicest spots. In the evening we cleaned and prepared the sea urchins we caught during our boat trip. The dinner was served at their roof top. In the morning we got a nice breakfast. The family took good care for our children and ourselves. Big recommendation if you like to stay in a simple homestay but with great hospitality!
Make sure you wait for the family to pick you up with their scooters. We did not know but you can rent a scooter from them with much better quality. We rented one from the people along the quay with far less quality...

Tasty food, friendly and warm host family. We can recommend.

We loved the snorkeling trip!!! The village is not touristic, you can just go around and enjoy the views. The host family is very helpful (even if they English isn't fluent). They organized us two wonderful days on this beautiful island. We did the snorkeling around the coral riffs, fishing at the evening, enjoying peaceful bays. We did not expect it. The hosts picked us up from the harbour so we did not have to worry about anything.

Absolutely fabulous family.
Very warm and welcoming.
They totally took care of all of our needs--making sure we always had water or tea. And then making sure a fan was always on us! Over the top!
Their son Trung showed us all around the village and took us snorkeling in one of the round boats. He is wonderful!
The bed was not very cozy. But I did not care because the family is so amazing!!

Thu is the best cook in small village! Many lunches and dinners, Lau kindly picked me up from wharf and also his son Tung took me into town. Loved the small Cham shrines and prayers with Buddha in pagod
Bit isolated 5ks from town. Early morning wake up 5am very loud speakers each morning.

Authentic feel in the area, beautiful beaches. And the owners son is an incredible guide.
They gave me a motorcycle that the breaks aren't working correctly. And felt like i was surprised over charged for things that werent told to me that they cost money. Like going snorkeling or them casually picking me up from the doc, or being overpriced on the boat ride back to the pier (after asking locals what they paid i realized they over charged me).
Besides that i wish i could give this homestay a 10 but when i left i felt the owners greed for milking money out of travellers.
No hot water as well wich was nice.

Wow !! I don’t really know where to begin. Me and my girlfriend had the best time of our lives the four nights we stayed at this homestay. Food here is amazing, one of if not the best food in Vietnam. We ate at really expensive restaurants in Hanoi that wasn’t nearly as good as the food at this home stay !! the family is very helpful with everything and very friendly. But what really made the visit a real blessing for us was their son, Quoc, who took us out fishing, snorkeling, trecking, and knew absolutely EVERYTHING about the island. He was without a doubt the best guy we met during our whole trip to Vietnam (3 weeks) , we visited many places and did lots of stuff but we always missed the island and Quoc. We will come back to this place, I don’t care how long it will take us to save up the money for it but we will. Quoc is Cham islands, he truly is the soul of this island and to spend time with him and to experience all the things we did on Cham islands was truly a profound experience that I will never forget…!!!!!

Nice really athentic village, the owners of the homestay were really nice, and we had a great snorkling trip organized by them. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were really nice, the rooms were well airco
Not too clean, but acceptable
Had to get thereby scooter taxi, which is ok but perhaps not great for really small kids

The homestay is located in a fishing village, about 15 minutes from the main town. It is right on the beach and only a short drive from other even more secluded beaches. You can rent bikes from
the main town, but the owners will drive you anywhere that you ask. Lau and Thu’s son,
took us on a private snorkelling trip on his boat and a tour of the whole island on his bike. The food was a mixture of fresh seafood, fried rice and vegetables and was some of the best food I had in Vietnam. The owners as you can probably tell were amazing and even though they spoke very little english, always made sure we had everything we needed.

First of all Lau, Thu and their son Chuuk were extremely warm and friendly people. We were picked up from the harbour and warmly welcomed in their guesthouse. They really made us feel welcome. Also the food was abundant, tasty and very reasonable priced.
I would have to be honest though that we were a bit surprised by the super high ratings this guesthouse receives. I have the feeling that many guests feel guilty to write an honest review, because the owners are such incredibly friendly people and therefore either don't write a critical review or avoid writing a review altogether.
The room for example was not clean. When we arrived there was a mattress on the floor next to the bed. Under the mattress was a lot of dirt and the room was not cleaned well. Also the shared bathroom was already quite dirty when we arrived and was not cleaned during our stay.
Also an important note is that the family had the guesthouse for over eight years, but they do not speak English. It took a big effort and a lot of energy to communicate. We had many questions about Cham island, but there was no way of asking them. We saw other guests struggling with the same problem.
So having said this I would like to say to all people writing reviews on Booking.com, please be open and honest! I understand that you feel guilty. Providing feedback however gives a hotel the chance to improve itself and this also helps other travellers and the community as a whole.

We were welcomed by this lovely family and their friendly dog Lili. Even though they dont speak much English, we were perfectly able to communicatie (and when not - we were all Just laughing about it and eventually using a translator app). The food made by mom was delicious! We ate there every day and were surprised each time by the amount and the quality of food. Also, there is a nice roof terrace to watch the sunset. We went on a snorkeling trip and which is also highly suggested. Pro tip: go to the Bai Chong beach (after 3pm, when all the tourist boats are left) and take Lily the dog with you (it will be a nice company along the way) to have a paradise beach all by yourself. It was so perfect there that we stayed one more night! We are so grateful to the family for these great days here! Anyone who complains about the bed or expects spotless cleanliness simply shouldnt stay at a homestay - you're paying for the experience!
It's completely in accordance with what you expect from a home/family stay.

The family were so accomodating with everything we needed and more. The location was beautiful with amazing beaches in a cute village.
Everyone was so friendly. We were taken snorkelling which was so much fun, would highly recommend.
We had amazing meals, with great seafood and delicious desserts/fruit.
They took us to the beaches which were stunning especially Bai Xep.
We LOVE Lau Thu Homestay. Hopefully we can come again one day!
Just remember there is no ATM on the island!

Great friendly family. We were first guests, after CV19 LockDown. Their son took us on a sunset hike. Food provided was fantastic. Comfy room.
The father took us on a boat trip, for snorkelling. 500k for 2 people for 1.5 hours.. initially it was due to be 3 hours..
