We enjoyed our stay at this large home in the countryside between Altopascio and Montecarlo. The common rooms are spacious and easily accommodated family meals for our party of ten. The kitchen was large and contained everything that we needs for big meals. The bedrooms were comfortable and had space for many more guests.
The location is perfect, being close to basic needs and good dining in Altopascio and wonderful views and even better restaurants in Montecarlo. You'll be close the Lucca, which should not be missed, and less than an hour from Florence and Pisa.
The property is quiet and remote. You won't see neighbors or have to worry about privacy.
Your host communicates easily in Italian, but less fluidly in English. I you do not know Italian, using a translator to communicate in his native language will greatly ease your conversation.

Prima Villa, sehr comfortable

A Pleasure to stay in!
Our family had a wonderful 10 days in Villa Fontanino. A perfect villa to accommodate 3 generations. With 2 of the bedrooms on the ground floor being very suitable for those members of the family who were unable to manage the stairs (unfortunately there is no handrail). The villa was well presented and very clean.
The large pool was very well used and loved. When we ate at the villa the kitchen was perfectly adequate for our needs and there were two large tables outside which we used for every meal, what a treat to have breakfast outside! We also made good use of the BBQ.
The location is very good for getting quickly to the motorway (for sightseeing) although you would never realise as the villa is set in peaceful countryside.
We loved the local Trattoria da Natale (within walking distance) and also discovered lovely restaurants in the old town of Altopascio.
There were some initial issues communicating with the owner who can be very slow to respond to emails. However, once we were there he responded and resolved requests very quickly.
Our only real complaint would be that the outside sofa and armchairs were not really in the best condition. There was only one armchair (two in the photographs) and that was broken. There could also be a more comfortable sofa inside.
All in all, we loved it and wouldn’t think twice about returning for another holiday. Beautiful place!
