Ordinary stay at very high price.

Location, Easy check in and out.

Kitchen was basic. There was no hot water in kitchen or bathroom for the night we stayed in. I did complain, someone came and started the boiler but hot water did not came to tabs.. So we left without bath.

A nightmare

Really nothing

Strongly not recommended! Luckily we stayed here for just one night. Throughout the night we were cold and there was no possibility to turn on the radiators. As soon as we woke up we would have liked to take a shower, but there is no hot water in the structure (not even in the kitchen or in the other rooms). We tried to contact the staff, but there was no response. On the access instructions (after booking) they say "remember that you have booked a hostel, not a hotel", but even the minimum services are not guaranteed under these conditions (I think hot water is one of them). This place shouldn't be available for rent. Not to mention the cleanliness and smells!).

Price

Kitchen dirty. Fridge a mess. Freezer full of ice so the door didn’t close. No TV in the room. No soap for bathroom or shower.

Disappointing

Onsite parking. Large kitchen available for use. Spacious enough but simple triple room.

While I appreciate this runs like a hostel, the facilities could have been better. The room initially seemed OK, but once you walked around barefoot or in socks it was clear the floor of both the bedroom and shower room were not fully clean. The air vent in the shower room was filthy with dust. While I accept this is low budget place, there wasn't even soap for handwashng! Amazing given COVID & all other germs are still out there. The shower head was poor and the controls for the shower swivelled around completely, meaning it took 10 minutes to just try and get it to a temperature that wouldn't burn you. The shower leaked out onto the bathroom floor. A hairdryer would have been nice to have in the room. Only half of the spot light bulbs in the room worked. The bed was creaky and the mattress soft. Only 1 pillow per bed and no spares if needed. The floors creaked, the door handles squeaked (no sneaking to the loo in the night).And you could hear the noise of conversation from other rooms.

Very good

It was good value for money, the room was comfortable and we got everything that was promised. The self-check in was also a bit plus.

The hot water ran out in the evening, so we had to choose a hot shower or cutting our evening short. So for that I'm taking off two points because that is a deal breaker for me. Also the room had a stale smell, probably from smoking, but we got used to it.

Cute little hostel

I liked the facilities, we booked a twin room(only option) with shared bathroom but it ended up being a private bathroom just for us, outside the room. We also ordered take away and used the kitchen with was very clean.

Quite far away from the center if you are walking but from there you can go to the Ness forest which is beautiful! Not recommended if you want a central place. When we checked in there was somebody doing repairs so it was quite loud and annoying.

Me and my family love Hillview and have stayed several times. . Will be back. 😊

We have stayed here the last few years and always enjoy our stay. Its in a quiet area and a short walk to the town centre and only a couple of minutes down to the river! Ideal. You're left to get on with it but can always contact someone it there is a problem. We love it.

As there is always 4-5 of us staying we always take extra toilet rolls anyways but on this occasion there was only half a toilet roll in the bathroom in a room for 5. Just a few more would be great.

Disappointing, needs TLC but passable if other options aren’t available.

unfortunately nothing stood out as really good about this property other than the potential it could have to be really good. The location wasn’t bad and the house itself was a nice size with a reasonable layout. The kitchen was large and I think suited the size of the property and rooms.

The poor cleanliness of the communal areas, bedrooms and the outside space. The broken cupboards, bed and bath panel. The towels smelled. The kitchen smelled and was not clean. The cupboards were in disarray and the tea towels were disgustingly smelly and food stained. The fridge smelled and there no defined areas for each of the different rooms to use in the fridge. sadly I could not call this a luxury hostel which is a shame because it has the potential to be so much better with a little bit of care and attention.

If you're desperate!

the kitchen, including cupboards and fridge, needs a thorough clean. Notices asking us to treat it 'as if it was our home' were tokenistic with no dish washing liquid, tea-towels. There was no plug for the sink so difficult to wash dishes. Breakfast very basic. Fridge full of old food. The whole building needs a decent clean. Sheets and towels old and worn. Felt like false advertising - no views or outside garden area - it looks neglected and unloved which is a waste as it could be much nicer. The redeeming feature is that the place is quiet including the location. We moved to a nearby hotel which wasn't much more expensive so not good value for money.

was basic as I expected and a bit over priced.

relaxed easy to check in and had parking.

though room was clean my daughter had part of a sanitary towel stuck on her duvet cover. cover had been washed but still pretty disgusting. other guests arrived around 11 and were very noisy as they found their rooms and got settled

Horrible place

a lot of things .. we can ear too much the others com in and out, the bath is broken couldn’t use it, doors are definitely too noisy. The mattresses are horrible, didn’t sleep well at all. No hairdryer, the kitchen is smelly and the fridge too. The fire alarm is running out of battery so it start doing a strong sound from 3am and had to leave the flat at 8am to get rid of it ! I’am very disappointed about my stay in this place.

The hostel is not being cared for, it is filthy and not clean, simple things as chairs are not being fixed, the kitchen - OMG the fridge with all old food left behind! Although with some more love and care it could be a really very nice place.

Self-served place, not bad for the money

The hostel is self-served, which was okay, since we got instructions about everything. The rooms were not big, but were okay, bathrooms too. The location is not central, but is close to the river park islands, 30 min walk from downtown. It has big kitchen.

Since it's self served - some of the other guests were making mess in the kitchen and didn't clean it, as well as the fridge was kinda of a mess. Maybe some stuff checks on the kitchen or more strict rules would help for this.

Dirty facilities with broken furniture

Room size was okay.

Dirty room no clean towels and bed linen. Bath was broken, furniture in bathroom was broken. Room was way too hot. Kitchen was dirty. Found it too expensive for what you get. I already paid but keep getting mails that I need to pay. Send an email before leaving with no response back.
