About this cottage rental
The Home Cottage is close to England's smallest City of Wells, with trendy Frome, the picturesque village of Mells and the Mendip Hills all close by. Bath (where my boys both go to school each day) is also only 14 miles away
The cottage is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with children), and dogs.
The cottage sits at the end of a rural track surrounded by fields. It's architect designed, newly built, cozy and peaceful with stunning views of the countryside around.
Guests can access a series of wonderful footpaths direct from the cottage.
We live just up the track from the cottage and should be available most of the time to help with any queries
A few house rules please:
- No smoking
- Check-in is after 3pm and check out by 10am
- One well behaved dog is welcome; we have wonderful walking. However please not upstairs or on sofas.
- Please respect our little cottage. No food or drink to be taken upstairs.

Cottage just georgous, lovely and quiet. We had a good rest whilst enjoying the local sites of Wells and Frome. We enjoyed a meal at the Oakhill pub at the end of the road, a very good recommendation.
Beds were compfy, shower good, everything you need kitchen wise, garden great for our small dogs. The fire was great and we were kept very warm. For us, the sofa was the only downside.
Ultimately we loved our stay ❤️

Beautiful cottage in a quiet spot with lovely walks on the doorstep.
Cottage is well equipped and tastefully furnished. Garden is pretty with views of rolling countryside.
The enclosed garden, walks and having a good sized boot/utility room was great with our dog for drying off muddy paws/contained sleeping space.
Lovely touches on arrival with fresh flowers in the kitchen and milk in the fridge, biscuits and tea/coffee.
A great spot for getting out to see more of Somerset.

It was a fantastic house, it had a great garden.
But….. there was only one coutch, en 2 little chairs.
The garden was big, but only four metal hard chairs.
We missed a nice one, or two or three or four to ly down in the garden.
But it was great, we liked Bristol, Glastonbury, Bath, Wells. Al lot of musea. The dog was very welcome in all these places.
We could see all the places on my list.
One week was to short

The cottage is such a cozy, calm and peaceful place to stay, the cows on the adjacent meadow are grazing slowly. It is perfect for a hike around Stoke St Michael, alongside brooks and abandoned places to discover. A perfect base for daily tours, no matter if up to Bath, the coast, or to more hikes, ruins, castles, cathedrals.

They left wonderful signs to indicate our directions to find the beautiful cottage, and when we got there we were in awe of the beautiful view and landscape. There is a beautiful grassy yard to play in when the weather is nice and when it’s a bit cold the living room has these beautiful glass doors so you can still feel the surroundings. They have really put a welcoming energy and feel in this home away from home!

Beautiful cosy cottage, well equipped with everything you could need, in a great location for walks and attractions further afield.
Weather was awful during our March stay but watching the snow and rain from the comfort of the cottage, reading Infront of the woodburner was a wonderful way to spend a weekend!

A very cosy cottage in a very attractive part of the country. Wonderfully secluded but within easy reach of so much to see and do.

Peaceful and Pretty
There are no words to express how grateful we are to have experienced the peace and serenity of Home Cottage. Everything was comfortable and clean, and we wanted for nothing. During the heatwave we lay under our shade tree and contemplated the life of a dairy herd whilst being cooled by constant breezes. There were rabbits to watch, a woodpecker at the birdfeeder, and a very healthy fox out on the footpath!
Thank you, Nick, for providing such a comfortable break, and we will be recommending your cottage to our friends and family.

Great Location
Amazing quiet location - brilliantly situated for visiting some great sights and villages such as Frome, Bruton , Wells and Mells. Great walks direct from the cottage.

We had a lovely week at the home cottage.
The garden saved us and our two young children during the heatwave! We spent most of the hottest hours under the splendid tree, playing and taking the view. Our evenings were spent at the outdoor table, enjoying a bbq.
Inside, the cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything one could think of.
Ideally located, we visited Mells, Wells, Frome, Bruton, Bath and enjoyed a splash at the Lido in Shepton Mallet. All these places were so close... ideal with a 4-year-old and a baby.
I'd recommend this place if you need a tranquil base to explore leafy Somerset.

Idyllic cottage in lovely rural location.
Nothing much we can add to all the five star ratings.
Photographs are a true reflection of the cottage, other than there are now lots more flowers and rose bushes.
Great location with only the sounds of the country side. But close to lots of towns and villages, and the oak hill pub!
A truly ideal place to stay if you want to get away from it all.
Thank you Nick

This is a lovely property - smaller than the photos suggest but perfectly formed. We were very lucky to have good weather over the weekend so we spent a lot of time in the garden when we weren't out and about on walks or visiting other parts of the surrounding area. The beds were very comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and finding the property was very easy even though it is at the end of a lane. We had a lovely stay.

Beautiful and functional cottage in a peaceful location.
We stayed in the cottage for 14 nights and had a lovely time. It is just as pretty as the photos. The rose Bush was in glorious bloom and was a real treat. The property was clean throughout and well equipped with everything we needed.
The shop in the village has pretty much everything you need and the Tesco superstore in Shepton Mallet is only 10 mins away.
Nick was very helpful and friendly.
We would stay again.

Already planning another visit
We booked this as a short getaway with our 9 month old baby and dog. We absolutely loved it, the location is really private and the cottage had everything we needed. Lots of local dog walks and places to explore; Mells, Wells and Frome.
We all loved our little get-a-way and will definitely be looking to visit again! Thank you!

A November stay
This is an excellent rural location. Took 2 dogs with us, good access to public footpaths (usual idiot farmers placing barbed wire as close to footpath gate ways as possible to make things awkward), property owner allowed access to his 2 local fields so an excellent dog owners holiday venue.
Inside the property is in excellent order, 2nd bedroom is excellent for 2 small children, those with teens will struggle.
Likewise sitting room area is very small, great for a couple but anymore than 2 and you may find a little cramped.
What issues we had with property; badly opening door and fly infestation was tackled promptly by property owner. (Latter remained an issue but the owner did try and planned to re visit before re letting).
Good access to Shepton and Glastonbury
Take a torch and wellies and you ill have a great time !
We will certainly return

Country Life
I don't even know where to start. This has been a wonderful holiday. Nicholas greeted us along the lane towards the property and was very helpful. He gave us some great tips for things to do. The property itself was just beautiful, small and cosy. But clean and modern inside. Waking up to the sun rise each morning over the fields was just amazing.
As for things to do, the list is endless. We visited pretty much everywhere but of course the main places were top of the agenda, these included Wells, Warminster and Salisbury. Just book this cottage and have a wonderful relaxed holiday.
Thank you Nicholas.

A lovely country cottage
A beautiful, picturesque cottage with scenic views. Very peaceful at night which was great for us with a sleeping toddler. Nick was so friendly, he even provided toys for our daughter to play with. A lovely little break away from reality.

Christmas holiday
This is a very comfortable, well-equipped cottage in a lovely, quiet rural area. There are numerous walks (one right from the property) and the region has a fascinating history clearly evident in the landscape. The owner was very helpful and available throughout our stay despite it being over Christmas. We would love to return - perhaps in the Spring or Summer.
