Loved our lodge and the wonderful view! Decor and design was lovely. Very fresh air with amazing sunrise views. Fabulously comfortable beds.
The staff were really friendly and helpful (especially Wendy on reception). Food was tasty.
Just a little bit dusty (probably from the high winds).

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Chayote Lodge and it was the perfect place to relax after a long flight. The views from the room were amazing both during the day and night with all the lights of San Jose. The area is so peaceful and we really enjoyed a tour of a local coffee farm and an early morning bird tour, where the guide was so enthusiastic and we saw so many birds including toucans.

GREED! Money cant buy life. we booked and paid 4 nights for $1080 US in advance at Chayote Lodge but we barely could stay for 2 nights. Not more. IT was unbearable. Chayote Lodge rates are in no relation to their offer ( the pics in their side are fakes): dirty rooms, no Yoga, high altitude, a lonesome place, no store, nothing nearby, hardly guests, no service, at night not one person in sight at a deserted place/area, icy cold at night The owners son, Roberto said at our 1st day that we can cancel 2 of 4 nights, just staying and paying two. that would have been fair. Roberto we didnt see again. The day we left, we were allowed to leave, we were told that we wont be forced to stay but that we will not get no money back for the 2 nights overpaid. For the coming 2 nights we had booked already another hotel. No driver awaited us like promised to drive us. The owner talked only over the telephone to US, unfriendly. Chayote Lodge is not only overrated, the service advertised &promised cant be found, was not presented, besides the host & staff has an arrogant attitude, unfriendly, rude, greedy. We cant recommend this hotel. Our 5th visit at Costa Rica but 1st negativ experience. Costa Rica has so many really luxury hotels for half the price where they treat you fair and with respect and courtesy, offering beautiful landscape, food, friendly staff and service. No need to get treated the way the people at Chayote Lodge treat their guests. Rather let the owner have the money, even he didnt earn or deserve it but going to an enjoyable hotel, laughing about greedy people like the owner of Chayote Lodge, Pura Vida

After a long day of flight connections from the USA to Costa Rica, we wanted to book a spot that wasn't much more than an hour from the airport, as we knew we would be tired and ready to relax before heading to the busy Furtuna area the next day. This facility was great. Can't say enough good things about the view from our cabin... forest and foliage during the day, and the distant lights of San Jose at night. The grounds are beautifully maintained with lots of flowers, etc. The restaurant/bar is very attractive and the food is good. The property is somewhat remote from other towns, homes, etc and is very pleasant and quiet.
As I recall, the bed was rather stiff.

Best view.
Nice attention.
Nice room.
They started to clean the restaurant windows during the breakfast which was loud and disturbing the peace of the place. Worst timing to clean windows.
The rooms lack privacy with the small windows on the top of the front side where everyone can look inside, even to the bathroom.

Chayote Lodge was incredible. The views from the rooms are stunning and the rooms themselves are stylish, large, comfortable and well equipped. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to help us organise a day trip and transfer to our next location. The restaurant was good and well priced. All in all, loved it
Nothing. My only regret was only spending one night there

the view was amazing, we woke up at 5:30am due to jet lag and opened the blinds to see the sun rising over the mountains while sitting in bed. it was stunning!!
a kettle in the room would have been nice so we could have had a cup of tea in bed while looking at the lovely view

view was incredible and lodge was lovely
for the price paid, would have expected better quality of food in the restaurant especially when there is no other option close by

Gorgeous setting in the hills overlooking the entire valley. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. A good restaurant and very attentive staff made it a perfect stop between San Jose and Monteverde.

Roberto was excellent. We had the grounds all to ourselves
We were lost for a bit. Need to get better advertising and clarification of location

A coffee or tea in the room could be nice ;)

This is a very small hotel with ten or so rooms. Each room is in a separate building with a good sized bedroom area, plus a loo, shower and double sink. There is a large balcony with great views down to the central plain.
This is not a luxurious place but simple with nice wooden and stone floors. The bed is of good size and is comfortable.
Food is ok rather than great. A basic breakfast is included. The restaurant area has big windows and some outside tables.
Along with the view, the other big plus is the staff who provide excellent friendly service (and speak good English).
The hotel is in a somewhat remote location but that is part of its charm.
I would definitely return.
The hotel is set high up on the hill side and there is frequently a howling wind. Not very much anyone can do about it, but be warned!
