About this villa rental
Check out the short video about Casa Alimas (located in photos - number 3).
This spacious, yet cosy, detached holiday villa is set in a peaceful location, a short walk (less than 1km) from the centre of Praia da Luz and the beach. The 3 bedrooms (one double and two twins) usually accommodate up to six people, but can comfortably accommodate eight people. Each bedroom has ensuite facilities and patio doors.
Casa Alimas is licensed by Câmara Municipal de Lagos (the local council) as meeting all requirements of the Alojamento Local (AL) legislation for holiday rental properties. Registration number: 3890/AL.
A marble spiral staircase, with child gates, leads upstairs to the large, fully equipped kitchen and the lounge/dining room. Three sets of patio doors lead onto the broad balcony with beautiful views over Luz and the Atlantic Ocean.
The large 10m x 5m swimming pool is walled for privacy with areas for sunbathing on all sides. The gardens are well stocked with flowers and fruit trees. An almond grove in front of the villa adds to the sense of peace and privacy. Fully equipped, including Air Con, fibre broadband wifi, Widescreen TV ( UK channels), DVD, CD/Radio/iPod player, telephone, dishwasher etc. Ideal for family holidays. Private parking for three cars.
Praia da Luz is developing into a busy resort in the peak summer, but Casa Alimas offers a peaceful position accessible along a cobbled lane in the centre of Luz. The beach, shops and restaurants are all within 10 minutes walk of the villa. There are many good restaurants in Luz and even more in Lagos. The beach is protected by the famous 'Black Rock' headland and is very popular with the Portuguese. There are many quieter beaches within a short drive. The local villa management company can arrange many local leisure activities for you, such as tennis, water sports and horse riding.
Lagos and the Algarve: Between Luz and Lagos there are spectacular caves and grottos, accessible from land at Ponta da Piedade or by sea from various boat trips out of Lagos. The historic town of Lagos is just 10 minutes drive from the villa and has a wide range of good shops and restaurants. The main street fronts onto the river and the elegant marina.
There are numerous beaches both to the East and the West of the villa. Other attractions include Zoo Marine - a seaworld park; Family Water Parks; Lagos Zoo (a small but very attractive zoo); Monchique and the hills, Cape St. Vincente ('The end of the World'); and the wilder West Coast. The nearest golf course is at the new Boavista resort just outside Praia da Luz. There are numerous other courses all along the Algarve.
Booking Information: Bookings for Casa Alimas are managed in the UK - send us an enquiry via HomeAway in the first instance after checking the availability calendar. During your stay, a local villa management company is on hand to deal with any queries you may have.

We were really happy with the villa, it was a good size for 6 adults and is well maintained and clean.
Communication with the owner and agent was very good.
Good view over the town to the ocean from the balcony.
Parking for three cars.
The only downside for us was the pool area. It’s a bit bland and lacks any shade in the morning (the covered area shown on the photos is no longer there). The pool is also very deep (2.4meters for more than half its length) which meant the water was very chilly even in August.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

We had a most amazing week as a family at this superb villa which is so well equipped and the layout is ideal. Contact was great from host and villa management. Pool though not heated didn't present a problem and was thoroughly used and enjoyed by us all and soon heats up given the sun shining which it did throughout the week

A very comfortable villa in quiet area of the beautiful village Luz. We stayed in the winter period with 5 persons. A very good fireplace and aircos to warm the villa in january. An excellent sitting room for 6 persons and a high quality Wifi network. The 3 sleeping rooms with good beds and 3 bathrooms makes a comfortable stay possible.

We had a fantastic time in the villa and couldn't fault anything. Wonderful views. Would definitely stay again

The view from the villa is excellent overlooking the bay. It is a short walk to the beach, shops and many restaurants and cafes. Geoff is excellent in corresponding efficiently. We loved our time at the pool. The house was very well presented and equipped.

We really enjoyed our stay in this newly refurbished villa. It was spacious and every room had a bathroom which really helped. The kitchen was amazing with all the equipment and appliances which were new. The host was amazing where we received very useful information before our arrival. One host came to visit us a few days after to make sure that we have settled well and really made us feel most welcome. The pool was huge, clean and warm so everyone in the family enjoyed it. The villa itself is set in a quiet area of Luz with fantastic view of the sea. We will definitively come back here and I thoroughly recommend this villa!

Not much I can say that isnt good about the property. I is what we expected going in. The upper floor has gone through a renovation to modernize things a bit. The lowere level where the bedrooms are, is next.
Not that it has anything to do with the home, but the laneway to the home is very narrow and we had a large van to accommodate our family, so that made it difficult but I managed.
It was great to be able to shop and cook most of our dinners in the upgraded kitchen.
I would stay there again and recommended it.

Just returned from a two week stay at this villa and we all had a great time. It is a lovely villa with excellent facilities and well equipped. Whilst there we a few issues at the beginning of our stay these which were quickly dealt with by the owner and the management team. The pool is a nice size but unheated and a little deep for us, however, we used it daily and had great fun doing so. Whilst Luz is close by, we found it a little too small and switch to Lagos which is just a 10-minute drive away. We would highly recommend this villa and should we visit this area in the future would certainly look to stay here again.

The house was great, everything as advertised. There was a beautiful view of the ocean from the terrace. The manager was very helpful and nice. I highly recommend staying at the villa.

We stayed for one week and absolutely loved it! The Villa is modern, bright, clean and comfortable and felt like home!
The pool was a little chilly (came mid May) but no doubt if we had come later in the summer it would have been perfect!
It look around 13 mins to get to the shop and around the same to get to town! Couldn’t fault the location and we were with older parents and young children.
The management team were wonderful and super helpful and we had great communication throughout! Absolutely recommend and will stay again! Thank you for having us!

A quiet area, good view from the top floor and the recently renovated kitchen opened up the living space to maximize the ocean view. A great location in terms of access and touring various coastal towns and it’s proximity to Lagos with an abundance of restaurants and shops made it a very strategic locale. Marena the housekeeper and the pool maintenance guy as well as Patricio who was managing some of the other Reno’s were all very friendly as was the villa management team!! Geoff, the owner was particularly helpful throughout.
Very enjoyable stay - other than some pesky mosquitoes and the towels could have been a bit softer (but typical for line drying) otherwise had a superb stay!! Highly recommend.

Wonderful views!
Nice property , spacious and views of the Atlantic are great from the upstairs balcony. Just a few things that were less joyful, the oven didn’t work although the guy that came to look at it said there was nothing wrong with it, we couldn’t use it. In one of the bedroom we had a flood from the shower and this was fixed temporarily. We were given two dishwasher tablets, one bin liner , one toilet roll and no washin power, which means you have to buy these in greater quantities then needed and a bit stingy for the price of the villa. The bbq is not useable unless you buy new trays, very dirty. Also keep in mind it’s uphill all the way from the beach and a dark path. The pool wasn’t cleaned until the day before we left. Apart from the above it’s a lovely villa with a good size pool and only 15 min from the centre. We had a lovely time

Great stay at Casa Alimas
Just had the pleasure of 10 days at Casa Alimas. The booking process was really easy and the owner, Geoff is very helpful. We had a few questions before we arrived and he was great at giving us all the right information. He was able to put us in touch with the villa management company who arranged our private transfers and they were perfect.
The villa is fantastic and in such a beautiful spot. Very secluded with stunning views which we enjoyed every morning at breakfast. The villa is very well equipped, beds are really comfortable and the pool is huge for a villa.
We could stroll down to the beach and restaurants on Praia da Luz in about 15 minutes. The supermarkets were only 10 minutes away. There are a few hills to walk up from the beach and shops but nothing too bad. We did, however make use of Uber cabs now and again and they were great and very accessible.
There are many restaurants around town and on the beach, our favourite was tapas at Boaty's on the sea front.
I could certainly recommend booking through VRBO and Geoff for Casa Alimas as you won't be disappointed.

Large Villa in a good location
This is a large villa 3 good sized bedrooms all ensuite. The bathrooms are all good, great showers and 2 baths. The living room has ample room and the upstairs veranda has plenty of room for dining and sunbathing. The pool area is large, we visited in Sept 2020 and it maybe because of Covid that the Pool was not as clean as we expected. However when we called the management company with our disappointment they sent a pool cleaning company to us within the hour.
This is a large villa in a lovely location.

Great location, great view
The place was nice enough, but a little tired, the lounge furniture has seen far better days, the kitchen really needs the updating the most. A real deep spring cleaning is needed as well.

Great New year’s vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Praia da Luz. It was our first time in Portugal and we were happy with this family-friendly home for our stay. The neighbourhood was very quiet - perhaps because of the time of year. If you intend to go out at night for dinner, restaurants are a short walk. I would bring a flashlight though as the walk up the final lane has no street lighting.

Perfect villa for families and close friends
The villa is up a little road in the little town of Luz. It offers stunning ocean views over Luz on the sunny veranda. The villa is perfect: big kitchen, plenty of dining tables, a pool, comfy beds with linen and towels. There is an open empty plot of land immediately in front which makes the villa feel private and off the beaten track. The host was brilliant.

Fabulous villa
Spacious villa in lovely location. Stunning view from the balcony. We enjoyed a lovely week relaxing around the pool. Praia da Luz is a lovely small village with some good restaurants we especially liked Chiccas! Shops etc within 20 mins walking distance although it is uphill on the way back. Lovely beach but sea was cold!! Enjoyed a dolphin watching boat trip from nearby Lagos. Would recommend for s quiet relaxing family holiday.

Wonderful Three-Generation Retreat!
Our party included two grandparents, a mother, and two grandchildren. This villa, unlike some we've rented, is MORE beautiful that the pictures can show. There is both a coziness, with all three bedrooms being downstairs, each with its own full bath, and a spaciousness about this villa. The upstairs veranda has such a gorgeous view, and our visit in April gave us many opportunities to sit outside and eat outside to enjoy the view. The owners have carefully planned blooming flowers and fruit trees around the villa which just increased our pleasure. Since our daughter and grandchildren now live in Ireland, I really hope we can come over our grandchildren's spring break again.
We'd never been to Portugal, but I think we picked the best town in the Algarve. Luz is ten minutes from the larger historic town of Lagos to the east and an easy drive to the "end of the world" - Sagres - to the west. It's a small town but big enough for two grocery stores that offered more gluten-free and dairy-free options than we found in Lisbon. For us, this family time together in such a lovely property was simply heavenly.

Great villa!
We have stayed at Casa Alimas before and we really love it. It has spacious rooms and a very airy feel. It is well equipped and well kept. The pool is larger than average, so you can have a proper swim. We enjoy walking down into the centre of Luz - just a short walk. Another really peaceful holiday in the sun!

Very nice private home close to everything with a great view.
This is a very nice and clean home that has everything that you need for a nice vacation. We did not get to use the pool because it was winter, but it looks like it would be great in the summer. We highly recommend this house. We ate oranges and clementines from the trees in the yard. It is very quiet and private and safe. Three bathrooms are a plus. The view is great.

The property was clean, spacious and well equipped. We loved the balcony and the large pool.
We had a great time, enjoying the solitude of Casa Alimas, while finding it an easy stroll to the beach, restaurants and bars.

Casa Alimas
Casa Alimas is a lovely villa with lovely views of the country and sea. The pool was one of the biggest we have had and although unheated it was fine once you got in. You do not need to hire a car if you just want to walk into town as the villa is about a 10 minute walk if that from the nearest restaurants. However if you or any of your party have mobility problems then I would advise you to get a car as the road to the villa is all cobblestone and uneven and when wet can be a bit slippery. The beach was lovely and very well maintained. The villa is clean, well maintained and Marina the cleaner was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

Well equipped villa - excellent value for money
We stayed at Casa Alimas for 1 week recently. We found it to have all the necessary facilities to have an excellent holiday. The bedrooms were spacious each with their own, what appear to be, new en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen was well stocked with all kinds of cooking utensils which we enjoy because we like to put the odd meal together. The pool is a real treat with plenty of shade in the afternoons for pale folk like me. There is a really good barbecue which we used a few times and had some great meals overlooking the sea from the upper patio. It is also a short walk into the town although a bit steep coming back and a bit rough underfoot in parts. The customer service from both the owner and the on site management was excellent and overall I couldn't really fault the place. I would have awarded 5 stars if the bath towels had been bigger and the pillows and bedding better quality however all in all I would heartily recommend this place.

Excellent
Lovely villa, well presented, clean. we enjoyed our stay immensely. Even the steep hill up to the villa was regarded as necessary exercise !!
Maid service and villa management was very good.
Only minor problems with TV service (which we were made aware of) and the cooker looked past its best.
That said, we would not hesitate to recommend the villa.
All the bars and restaurants we went to were good to great, and we would recommend Onda Luz, Chicca's and Alloro.

A good choice for a family holiday
Casa Almias is a fairly private villa with a lovely garden, which we found quite peaceful during our stay, although there is a cockerel in the allotment behind the villa. The view from the balcony is great and the villa is well located for walking in to Luz, although the walk back is uphill along an uneven road.
The new bath & shower rooms are nicely done, although the access through the wardrobe to the bathroom did raise a smile and the towels had seen better days. I hope that the ensuite to the master bedroom will be given the same treatment as the others soon.
The kitchen is a reasonable size and reasonably well kitted out, although it did lack any facility to make a real cup of coffee, not that this was promised!
The owner provided good service and all dealings were easy, prompt and professional with no disputes.
Luz seems very popular with Brits and has plenty of restaurants. We liked the Fortaleza, A Concha and Chicca's.
We regularly take villa holidays in Europe and we think it woudl be fair to describe Casa Alimas as comfortable rather than "luxury", hence the 4/5.

Great Villa for Old and Young!
We stayed at Casa Alimas for a week in November and enjoyed beautiful weather everyday. The villa was ideal both for the children and our elderly parents. The spiral staircase between the two floors has wide shallow steps and handrails both sides, so was not a problem for the grandparents. The kids loved the pool - which I didn't think we'd be able to use in November (although it felt chilly when you first got in! The villa was spotless and the maid was lovely - her English is very good. Although we had a hire car, we left it parked most of the time and were able to walk into the village for shops and restaurants. We all had a lovely relaxing holiday and we hope to return soon.
