About this house rental
**Winner of Most Charming Waterfront Holiday Home 2024 Cornwall at LUXlife Hospitality Awards** La Folie is a spacious Victorian town house located in the heart of Fowey on the principal waterfront road a few minutes walk from town, a few minutes from the nearest beach (White House) where the toddler sea pool has been revamped and the excellent beach cafe has been added and 8 min walk to enchanting Readymoney Cove. Set on four floors with one twin room, one super king/twin, one double room and two bathrooms, the house has been refurbished with elements of the contemporary interior whilst retaining many original features such as decorative fireplaces and a pretty ironwork balcony. The beautiful contemporary kitchen/diner is fully equipped and also includes flat screen TV and Rayburn. Bifold doors open onto a sheltered patio with dining table, separate utility room with washer and dryer. Outdoor stairs lead up to extensive roof deck with sofa, sun loungers and dining table.
We are able to accommodate one extra child on a daybed in our twin bedroom number three. We are also able to configure bedroom number two as a super king bedded room. Included in your rental fee is some cleaning equipment e.g. dish washing tablets, washing up liquid, soap and some essential groceries. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board provided.
Whatever the season, the first floor living room is the perfect place to relax on the chaise longue whilst enjoying beautiful views of the harbour. Catch the last rays of the sun on the front balcony or head for the extensive decked roof terrace of wood, glass and stainless steel for sunbathing or sundowner drinks.
Fowey's lively atmosphere, interesting little shops and galleries plus a bustling quayside is sure to attract visitors of all ages and interests all year round. The town is famed for its strong connection with author Daphne du Maurier and honours her with a literary festival each May. Other literary connections include Sir Arthur Quiller Couch (Q) to whom there is a memorial and Kenneth Grahame who was married in Fowey. Poldark imagery abounds in nearby Charlestown and Rosamunde Pilcher film locations are easily reached. Local amenities are excellent with many family restaurants and pubs, golf courses, sailing, canoeing, fishing, walking and wildlife opportunities plus Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and National Trust properties nearby. Foodies will be attracted by Fowey's new upmarket restaurant Appletons, rustic, outdoorsy North Street Kitchen and perfect seafood street food option Captain Hanks. Other options include the excellent original Sam's, Dwelling House, Pintxo, Buffala and freshly renovated The King.
Some of our favourite things to do:

2) Surfing in Watergate Bay or Polzeath (45 min).

Lovely view of the water from the deck and lounge. Short walk into town or the beach. Lots of stairs but everything we could have wanted for the week.

Had an amazing stay here. Perfect location to walk into the town centre or Readymoney beach. Picturesque views from upstairs and we had an amazing firework display for the queens jubilee right outside the house on a barge. Very comfy beds and lots of space!

Stunning views, charming house, comfortable beds, great location. The deck is a bonus!

Great house, views and location we didn't use the car all week just hopped on the ferries to go exploring. Amazing choice of pubs and restaurants locally but very glad I'd pre booked as everywhere was extremely busy. Weather was lousy which was a shame not to have been able to use the terrace but all in all a lovely trip. Thank you Beverley for your helpful and speedy email communication.

What’s not to like!! The house is fantastic, everything you could need for a home away from home is provided. The location is perfect and the views from the property are stunning. We were lucky with the weather and spent some great evenings on the sun deck with a few drinks after dinner. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed when you stay here. It’s quite simply perfect.

Four of us staying; husband and I, plus two (young adult) children which meant we each had a floor to ourselves. Comfortable beds. The house and location was even better than I'd expected. Turn left and walk five/ten minutes for just about everything. Turn right for Readymoney Cove and the little ferry to Polruan. All on your doorstep. Breakfast from one of about three bakeries. Coffee and pastries enjoyed either on the balcony or terrace. Both offer amazing views of the harbour. Lunches from the deli, a pasty from a bakery (which we ate on our half day hire boat), and a fab sandwich from Captain Hanks Crab Shack. Oh and lots of icecream options. Pintxo the tapas bar is virtually next door so we were regular visitors there too. (They're open 12 noon to 9pm). What else? Large TV screen (we were there for the Euro semis). We made one request during our stay and Jessica the housekeeper was on it straightaway. Basically, our stay was great!

The house was in a perfect position right in the centre of Fowey and we were able to stroll a short distance to the shops and restaurants. The view over the estuary from the sitting room balcony was amazing. We enjoyed watching the boats coming and going. The house was very well equipped and was comfortable and a joy to stay in with its stylish interior. Beverley was an excellent host. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and enjoyed long walks every day through beautiful countryside.

Very well maintained and presented property, with care clearly given to Covid-19 precautions. Everything we needed for our week in Fowey, with beautiful views over the estuary (when the weather co-operated!)

We had a lovely relaxing stay.
The house is really lovely and comfortable. Bathroom was amazing. Huge kitchen with everything we needed. Fab views from the living room and terrace. We only used the king bedroom on the same floor as the kitchen (1st floor) and main bathroom but there was a lovely twin room on the top floor and a large double room on the ground floor. Loads of space for a family.
Wish we had better weather so we could have used the sun terrace and balcony more. Great walks straight from the house and / minutes to the shops and restaurants. We really love Fowey and the surrounding area. Highly recommended and loads to do.
Thanks Beverley for sharing your home 😊
