We arrived at an exceptionally poor weather (snow storm in June!) knowing that we may freeze in the cabin, the owner had kindly offered to let us stay in the apartment instead. (A free upgrade!) it was genuinely a great surprise and a lovely highlight amidst the bad weather

A lovely part of Iceland. Very nice hosts. The outside cabin was very comfortable and self contained. Even the outside shower was quaint! The price though is somewhat too much, even for Iceland
A little too expensive.

A truly exceptional stay at the Herring House in June. Owners Helga and Dagur were most kind and very helpful with info. Most comfortable bed in the world. (I'm not kidding). Our little private cabin was great and we loved the outdoor shower with a great view of the mountain!! An easy walk down the hill into the little town and the bakery is a great spot for breakfast. Just adored the Herring House and Siglufjordur in general. Already planning another trip to this wonderful location and can't wait to discover more. My new favourite place on earth.
Honestly, couldn't find one fault. Everything exceeded expectations. The quiet and solitude of this northern Icelandic location was exactly what we were looking for. Will definitely be back in the future.

Everything else!
The only slight drawback was the shared bathroom.

This place was perfect. Everything was perfect. Helga was so nice. The cabin is pristine clean. Cozy bed and great decor. Hot tub was pure bliss. Cute town with cute brewery and decent restaurants. Honestly I would have paid more for this it was that nice! These are luxury cabins
That we only stayed 1 night

I enjoyed my stay here. The hosts are very kind and accommodating. I loved the outdoor shower and the chance to soak in the hot tub.

Nice Host, cozy House, Hot Tub was amazing.

Our favorite accommodation of our trip to Iceland! We stayed in the main house and only for one night, unfortunately. The place was very clean, cozy, and quiet. Helga was very lovely and helpful. The beds were super comfortable, but it certainly also helped that we were quite tired after having stayed up until late at night marveling at the dance of the norther lights :D

Great location, small but nice room. The owner was very friendly and greeted us right away. Nice kitchenette to make tea. Room had a great view.
The shared bathroom was not an issue as only two rooms were occupied but I can see how it could be crowded with a full house.

Lovely helpfull host. Beautiful view and comfortable beds. Perfect stay🌸

Great location
The only thing to warn people is that there is one bathroom that has the toilet and the shower in the same room. It was not very busy when I stayed, but I could imagine that it might be a long wait to use the facilities at times. Otherwise great (and I didn't ask if there was another toilet available because it wasn't crowded when I was there, there may be another one available).

Nice host. Cosy interior, good beds and everything you need to enjoy an independent visit to beautiful Siglufjordur

very clean and lovely
lots of steps hard with luggage for elders, with only one bathroom had to wait a lot

Helga was a very friendly and informative host. Our room was bright and clean, and had a nice view over the city. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well both nights we spent here.
The house and garden are both beautiful and superbly decorated.
On our second night we even got to enjoy a relaxing bath in the hot tub in the garden, which was prepared just for us. Absolute highlight!
The only thing that could be mentioned at all is the lack of a stove in the kitchenette (so if you’d like to cook something here make sure it’s microwavable).
There are also very nice restaurants in town ;)

Helga directed us to the bakery down the street where we purchased breakfast (try the cinnamon rolls!). The front rooms have a wonderful view of the city and harbor and incredible mountains surrounding this fjørd. Look for the snow fences. The one shared bathroom for four rooms is large and very modern. The kitchenette was well equipped with a new Siemens coffee machine, microwave, refrigerator, sink, cutting board, bowls, and utensils (no hot plate). The rooms were filled with whimsical decor that was fun to discover. The room was spacious and well appointed. Safe parking is plentiful on the street in front. Walk up 20 steps and you're there.
Nothing at all. This is a fine place to stay. All our needs were met.

Great location, very nice clean room, very nice/helpful proprietor.
Up to 4 rooms could be sharing the same shared shower/bathroom… too much. Fortunately there was only one other occupied room the night of our stay.

Super nice hosts. Great location. Cozy room, thought a bit small.
The shower is outdoor....
For us it wasn't that convenient...but other things made up for this

we stayed in the private cabin for two nights and found it to be more than we expected. lovely setting, quiet, roomy, fully equipped with modern decor and appliances. our hostess, Helga, was always available to answer questions regarding iceland in general, and to suggest things for us to do. siglufjordur is a small town but has everything a visitor would require (museums, restaurants, grocery store, even a free carwash).
we have no complaints about this property and would sincerely recommend it to everyone.

Absolutely wonderful to stay @ The Herring Guesthouse.

The host, Thorir, was very personable and helpful. We happened to stay there on the night before Iceland Independence Day (75 years!), so he let us know what festivities were happening in town. We ended up seeing him and Erla at the community musical heritage center. We even got to have some of the official cake that EVERY town in Iceland had for the celebration!
