Two friends and a teen stayed here for our vacation to Hawaii while we checked out the Hilo area and Mauna Kea. It was nice each having our own room. Comfortable home with nice amenities. Only issue we had was a fuse blew out and knocked out power to the three A/C units but that got resolved quickly. Very friendly hosts. Enjoyed an orange from the tree out back. Only suggestion is to add a strainer to the kitchen wares (maybe there was one and I was too sleepy to find it to strain my OJ). :-)

There are not many listings or hotels in Hilo especially for family of 5. This place was right in the heart of Hilo, only 7 minutes from the airport. It was very nice and well appointed property and would been excellent for a longer stay. We loved the one night we were there and the communication with property manager was excellent.

Loved the property- clean, beautiful, private and safe. After the first night we opted to use the earplugs for bedtime as the next door neighbor has roosters and the other neighbor has barking dogs. We didn’t find that a huge issue but mention it as this was not in any of the other reviews. Owner was kind and prompt and left instructions to contact neighbors if dogs barked but I didn’t feel comfortable doing that every morning at 6am, personally.

The property was exactly as described.
We did have two issues. The first issue the property owner has no control over. The house next door has a barking dog. Our last night there it woke us up at midnight and continued to bark until 3:15 am. We never went back to sleep.
The other problem was the steep driveway. We parked on the street due to the incline. My husband is disabled and walks with a cane. He held onto the railing and I held onto his other arm and walked him down. Then I walked each piece of luggage down one at a time. It is a very steep incline to walk up the drive. I go to the gym five times a week and am physically fit, yet it was difficult for me to walk up the drive. This was the only negative about our stay. Therefore I would not recommend anyone with a mobility problem to stay there.

House was perfect for us. Nice yard for kids to play in and a nice neighborhood. Kitchen was stocked nicely with cookware and supplies. So nice they supply beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and a large cooler. We had a blast and appreciated all the extras the host provided.we had a minor issue with the toilet and they were fast in responding and addressing it. Would highly recommend staying here for families.

The property was super clean. It had all the amenities we needed. Very comfortable and its location was great. We definitely would stay again and would recommend to all.

The property was exactly as listed. Lots of pros - it was very clean, a stocked kitchen with anything you would need to cook or pack a lunch for the beach, large living room, comfy beds and a nice bathroom with extras like cotton balls and q-tips. There was even welcome gifts.
I was nervous about the reviews of the barking dog next door, but it wasn't an issue for us. Overall, a central location for a stay in Hilo. I would suggest you stop Hawaiian Style Cafe and Cupcakes, Boom! (both within walking distance). We also ate at Cafe Pesto in downtown Hilo which was excellent. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect place for our family to stay and great location. Will most definitely stay here again when in Hilo. Mahalo for hosting us

Great place for a stay. Lots of thoughtful touches that made visiting the sights in the area convenient, like providing umbrellas, labeling light switches, a cooler to use. Location was convenient, but was a little noisy the weekend we were there.

Our daughter and her family loved the house. Nice size, great yard, easy parking. We did Christmas dinner there, plenty of room. Location is great near by Hilo and Puna.

The bedroom arrangement was nice with two on one side of the bathroom and one on the other. The living area was large with a big comfy couch. The bed we were in was too firm for our liking so the couch was a good alternative for my partner to sleep on. The shower has a rainfall shower head and modern drainage and tile work. The overall decor was very tasteful. The only negative was car noise, an occasional plane overhead, close neighbor with large barking dogs (but the neighbors control quickly). We didn’t see a sign behind the kitchen door about a tenant below us and were shocked the first time we saw someone so perhaps this should be mentioned in the property description. One of the friends used a wheelchair and could get around the house but he did have to climb three steps to get into it. Still, it worked out nicely for us.

We visit family on the Big Island often and decided to find a place in Hilo. This was a great property, with every detail taken care of for the guest. Close to all things Hilo. When we are back we will try and book this property again.

comfortable and convenient
The location was great for us with access to many groceries and local food shops. Our stay was definitely too short, and if we could have stayed longer, I would not have tired of this place.
Yes the frogs are noisy at night and the dogs do bark (they sound very close and big!!) but everything calmed down as we wandered off to sleep. I did not mind the rooster in the morning because it reminded me of my old neighborhood in LA. So if anyone is a light sleeper beware!! I did notice that the host left us each had a pair of earplugs with the shampoo. I did not need them.
The decent from the street to the house on the driveway is quite steep and the first few times I could hear the bottom of the car scrape as we descended down and we ascended up the driveway. After that we figured out how to avoid that so beware if you are driving a low to the ground vehicle. You can avoid that altogether if you park on the street.
I would definitely would rent this place again. This was my first time in Hilo and I hope to return soon.

Good location, in downtown hilo
The house is perfect. Very cute. It has a very steep driveway down to the house so we almost drove past it the first time. It is located in a downtown so it's close to everything. There wasn't ripe fruit in the trees, my husband was sad about that.
The frogs were so loud we didn't get any sleep the first night. The neighbor German shepherd dogs barked until midnight. We bought earplugs and you could still hear the frogs, they are that loud. They left a number to call the neighbors about the dogs. I did text her the second night when we couldn't sleep and the dogs were quiet after that. So not a lot the homeowner can do, I don't hold that against them. Just a hard situation.

Great location! Perfect for families.
Check in was straightforward. Host was very responsive to questions. Location is excellent, close to the airport, downtown, restaurants within walking distance. Easy drive to Volcanoes National Park and black sand beach. I was appreciative of the plentiful towels, beach mats, laundry machine, well stocked kitchen. Thanks!

Our own bungalow lifestyle vacation
This home is absolutely charming and cozy (not small kine cozy). The location is perfect for going in any direction and finding adventure. There were only two issues that we came across. It took more time than usual to start the smart oven and a couple of neighbors believe its pau Hana every day. We did find we kept ourselves busy and the result was utter exhaustion by the end of the day. The coqui frogs had the same effect but the random and rhythmic timing of the calls was tolerable and we all went right to sleep. The experience was terrific and this house was more than we could have expected

Good location in Hilo
The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The host had coffee and cookies for us when we arrived. The host also provided a lot of information about the surrounding area. The kitchen had a lot of pans for cooking and that was helpful. The actual location was near the downtown area, restaurants and grocery stores. However, the neighbors were loud late at night.

Great Leaping off point
Enjoyed our stay here. It was the perfect spot to go north towards Waipio Valley or to Volcano National Park or just hang around Hilo. It is in a neighborhood and need windows open for air (which was refreshing) but if your not used to night sounds you might need some ear plugs. Loved the welcome gift of local flavors. Overall great place to stay.

Pleasant comfortable home
Pleasant, comfortable home, nicely set up for guests. It is in the city, so a bit noisy: barking dogs, one night the neighbors had a party, roosters in the morning, and coquis at night. Light sleepers should pack earplugs. I was visiting friends in Hilo, so the location was convenient. We also used it as a base to explore Volcanos Park and the coastline to the south. We enjoyed our stay here.

Great base to discover Big Island
I nice tiny house in Hilo with all comfort you need for a stay. We used it as a base to discover the island and were fully satisfied with all what we found: a charming interior, a well equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer and even snorkeling equipment. We enjoyed each minute of our stay and can really recommend it to other guests.

Clean comfortable house
Clean comfortable house. Worked well we were able to set up our office and run business things in the one bedroom and also outside under the covered lanai We did all of her meals and food prep there and they even had coolers for us to pack our daily lunch so we could be out and about and still have great food and ice packs. House is very well stockeD. Owner was very friendly and helpful as we needed. Enjoyed fresh fruit off of the tree in the backyard. We appreciated the owner bringing over extra fans. Japanese gardens are nice and we went to farmers market. Drove to Volcano national Park two different days and that was about an hour and 10 minute drive one way Went to a donation suggested tropical rain forest zoo which is definitely five stars and a must see for adults and even a 13-year-old thought it was cool Went to check out the Mauna Loa macadamia nut free tour which we all enjoyed looking in on the workers. Went to Rainbow Falls which was phenomenal and free. Owner has umbrellas even hanging if need and you will need Thank you so much

Amazing Location!
We stayed here for 8 nights. It was our 2nd visit to the Big Island but first in Hilo, and the location was perfect to get around local beaches, the downtown, shopping, Rainbow & Akaka falls, and the volcano. The place was clean and had everything we needed for the stay. There’s no A/C but each room has a ceiling fan that works just fine and with the windows open the breeze is wonderful for a good night’s sleep. The weather during our stay in Hilo didn’t require much cooling after all. All in all, a fantastic place!

All the benefits of home.
House was close to everything being midway between downtown and large supermarkets/shopping mall etc. Had everything you need when travelling with a family and very central. Fans in every room kept the house cool.

Spacious with a perfect location
Mahalo Steve & Simone for your home during my last few days in Hilo.
This home was perfect in regards to location, it's near Downtown Hilo, Hilo Airport, and shopping mall. Also its fairly close by to most restaurants as Hilo I found is a walkable city for the most part everything is nearby.
The home itself has everything you need, internet has a good speed enough to stream netflix/ youtube videos. Lots of space for cooking in the kitchen, plenty of space for a larger family but best of all the price isn't over the top.
I'll be coming back to this location when I return to Big Island!
