We stayed here 2 different times now and love this place. It’s cozy and lots of room. The outdoor wrap around porch is a bonus. Very comfortable and the owners are amazing, making sure our stay was perfect.

Had a really great time at another area property last year, but Gasthaus is the winner. A 3 night stay was not enough time to enjoy all that is available. I have been petitioned by the entire family to book a full week next year. Steve and Ellie are great to work with!

This our second stay at Gasthaus. We had a tremendous time with the family. We even caught a break and had a clear night and stargazing which was Tremendous! Steve the host is a sweetheart. Will definitely be back!Total Blessings!

We had a wonderful time! The lodge is fantastic! We enjoyed star gazing, walking the property (My sister and I hiked to the top of the hill, walked the treeline to the teepee and nade it safely back to the bottom...71 and
67 years young.). The ponds were a joy to my grandchildren, the fishing in the area was the best...we even went to the mouth of the Allegheny! It was a very relaxing time. 10/10. Another refrigerator would have been a plus as we needed to keep food in coolers. Can't wait to come back! Thank you so much. It was very nice talking to Mr Wilson who has a memorial on the property for his grandson 😞.He told us that part of the Gasthaus was the post office! Again, we really enjoyed ourselves 😄

Very nice house and property. The location is great for children with lots of room and three ponds and Clara creek. Good for adults too. Great for star watching. Everyone had a comfortable stay and a great time.

The lodge was a great place to stay and had everything we needed. My impression from the Vrbo ad was that it stood alone on 120 acres, which wasn’t the case. There were three ponds near the house but it wasn’t clear if all three were on the property because another house stood near the largest one.
Overall, we had a very good stay.

Great place to stay! You won’t be disappointed by anything when staying at this gorgeous cabin!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gasthaus! The spacious layout is great, the kitchen is stacked, and the furniture, including the beds (and especially the pillows) are super comfy. I was glad that the provided linens were very clean and of very high quality. The only negative comment I heard from my kids all weekend was from my 6-foot-tall son every time he banged his head on the wood beams!
We went to Cherry Springs Dark Skies State Park and saw a lot of meteors with it being the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower. During the day we spent some time walking through the giant concrete remnants and exposed rebar of the Austin Dam Ruins and were intrigued to see up close the destructive power water contains. In the town of Austin, we found Big Mike's Dairy Dine and got Perry's homemade ice cream which I highly recommend the Coffee and Donuts and the Salt & Sun flavors. We would definitely want to stay at the Gasthaus again!

The property was the perfect size for a group and very comfortable! The landscape was beautiful and the house had a homey feel. The three bathrooms were large and the laundry was conveniently located.

Our multi-generational family wanted to go on vacation to a place away from tourism, hustle, bustle and noise. This was perfect. Biggest tourist spot - Coudersport Ice Mine. Most hustle and bustle - deer grazing in the hillside field. As for noise - the music of birds singing and the far off sound of the fountain running in the property’s pond. It was a wonderful place for our long distance family to reconnect.

The property was clean and as advertised. The owner greeted us on the first day we arrived. The mountain view was breathtaking. We took walks on the trails, fished in the pond and sat around the fire pit at night.

The location and property were amazing. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the views and the atmosphere. We fished, hiked and just had fun hanging out. The host was extremely responsive with the few questions we had and we couldn't have had a better experience.

My family stayed here while attending a wedding nearby and everyone was extremely pleased with the spot and very comfortable (7 adults, 3 kids, 1 pup). We had the entire house and had plenty of space. Food etc was picked up en route, but we also took a quick trip to Port Allegany which was about 25 min away and had all that was needed. The GastHaus is clean, comfortably furnished and the bear was a big hit. Plenty of showers, towels, and we had Pandora/Spotify on the tv to lend some tunes. We had beautiful weekend weather and spent a lot of time outside enjoying the property and visiting the horses. Steve's communication was excellent, as were the directions/hints for checking in, and we were glad to chat with Jeremiah before departure. We had no issues with anything at all and really appreciated our stay. Next trip to the area, we hope to stay again! Thank you!

We rented this place as a weekend getaway to celebrate our mother’s 70th birthday. It was the ideal setting for family bonding. We spent hours enjoying cornhole on the deck (we brought our own boards), exploring the property…so many great spots for family photos, and we loved the large kitchen table that we used to play cards on well into the night. It was clean, comfortable, and serene. We plan to go back again soon.

My husband and I with two other couples and our dog stayed a week at the Gasthouse in late winter/very early spring. We hiked, walked, cooked, played games, did puzzles and hung out by the fire. Overall the property was clean and we loved the location. The size of the house was nice as were the number of rooms and bathrooms. Due to the cold weather we did not get to use the outside fire pit or sit out on the porch but the outside amenities looked very nice.
While we had a good time on our visit there were a few things someone looking to stay at the property may want to take into account. These were not huge issues for us, but they were impactful to the overall quality of our visit. First, we brought our corgi Lili with us on the trip. The house rules are that dogs cannot be in carpeted area of the house and we followed that with no problem - additionally this was clear in the listing so we expected it. only the bedrooms are carpeted and we were able to put Lili's crate just outside the door on the first floor and leave the door open. She tolerated the minor distance from us overnight very well. The information binder also states that dogs are not allowed on the furniture. This was unexpected and much more difficult to do. Lili is used to sitting with us at home and it was a huge hassle to keep her on the floor. The no dogs on the furniture policy was not clear in the listing and would have been a deal breaker for us if we would have known ahead of the rental.
The second issue was the amount of comfortable seating in the house. The house sleeps 10, but there is just a couch and loveseat - seating a total of 5. we had to bring a chair in off the porch for our sixth person - making it an unpleasant game to see which of us got to sit in the uncomfortable chair when we were hanging out.
Third, we had a difficult time figuring out the heating system. There were instructions in the information binder but none of the thermostats seemed to work like the information suggested. This led to temperature swings in the house from 59 degrees the first morning we got up to almost 75 the last evening in the house.
Finally, while the kitchen was the best stocked we have yet run across in terms of cooking and baking items (which was really great!) there was not enough toilet paper or paper towels. We had to make an emergency run into town to get both at one point. Of note, we did not bother out host with this...

Beautiful setting for the family (10 people & 2 dogs) to relax by the fire hang out and celebrate the new year. The hosts were friendly and responsive.

This property met and exceeded the needs of our party! We received quick response to our questions and the location was perfect for housing 10 of our 15 family members for a Holiday get together.

The view was awesome and cabin was homey.

Beautiful and spacious cabin of extraordinary craftsmanship. with wraparound porch. Quiet surroundings with 110 acres of fields and trails to explore. Dark night skies filled with stars. Crackling fires inside or out. Best ice cream a short hike or drive away. Where rush hour consists of three cars and a school bus. We love this place for famly time off the grid! It's obvious the owners take great pride in this property. You will not be disappointed!

There were four generations of us. We had a great time very relaxing and made some great memories with great grandchildren while visiting with relatives and friends from the past. The place had plenty of room and supplies were generous. A very nice place for getting back to your roots

My family enjoyed our stay here! The e house faced North/south with a rap around porch to catch the night skies. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. The only suggestion I would have is a big table so we all can sit down together. The other note was the gas grill. But Steve was on top of it. Even with a full moon out we were able to see a faint milky way and shooting stars. So, that means we have to come back forThe full affect. Great host! And the place was simply beautiful. Cabin but with a barn feel.

With a mix of generations staying together which sometimes proves a challenge, this home & atmosphere made those minor, if not nonextistent. We all had a wonderful time. Very relaxing. best ice cream, county fair. #lovefamily. - Heather

We loved our short but relaxing stay. The house is a very cool post and beam hunting lodge. It was also super clean and well laid out. The pond had cute tadpoles and frogs in it. My daughter loved the 2 horses in the nearby field. They were super friendly and came right over to greet us and accept pets. That night it was so clear and dark that we saw stars we had never seen before. The next day we took a hike in a field with wildflowers and tons of butterflies. We did some laps in the paddle boat in the other pond. The mountains and forest were quite and peaceful. Owned by a really nice family and the host was very responsive. If you like fun in nature and quiet relaxation then this is the spot.

Their is plenty of room for the whole family and is a great place to see stars and the milky way. I only have one issue, the glass front doors did not lock properly. They could just be pushed open.

It is a very unique country living experience. Open view and the scenery are beautiful. If you are looking for quiet place to escape city life otherwise it is far from everywhere. Going to grocery shop at least 40 min away. Other than that it is a comfortable place to stay and have everything you need. So if you prepare your trip in advance. Then it should not be a problem for this location. We enjoy our stay in general.

Our stay was amazing! The hosts accommodated all of our needs and were very helpful even in the late hours of the night! The property is beautiful and the home is in pristine condition. The kitchen is fully stocked! Beds comfortable and there is plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable! Thank you for your hospitality.

The star gazing even on the property is wonderful. The area is really beautiful and quiet. The house itself is welcoming and relaxing. I have no doubt that everyone who goes here will enjoy it!

Great property to connect with nature! Quiet and peaceful yet close enough to town if you need anything. Property was very clean and had all the amenities one would need/want. Owners were very easy to get a hold of when something was needed and very accommodating! My family truly enjoyed the trip.

What a perfect place for a larger family to stay!! We came together for a 50th Anniversary party. There were 9 of us total. We had PLENTY of room in this clean and cozy lodge! Would definitely recommend to anyone! Absolutely enjoyed staying here!

We had a wonderful time at the Gasthaus with family- 6 adults and 6 kids aged 5-14. The owner and his daughter were very responsive and were able to fix the few glitches we brought up (electric door lock issue and internet). Internet is spotty and cell reception is inconsistent, but it didn't bother us as we already had read that. The fire pit area is fabulous as is the hike up the mountain right on the property. We all made some fantastic memories, and I have already recommended the property to friends. We would definitly rent again.

The house was so cozy and rustic with a lot of nice touches in each room. You can tell they take great care and pride in the property. They also had a full pantry of basic kitchen items for our use which was a great convenience not having to worry about bringing that additional stuff. The house was a perfect size for our group which included 8 adults, 2 teenagers, and 3 kids 5 and under. Unfortunately we did not get lucky with the weather for stargazing, but had it not been cloudy, the property would have been perfect to see the entire night sky! My only critiques would be better internet or a DVD player for movies if better internet is not an option, and one more couch in the living room for more seating. Other than that though, I would say the house was perfect for our family trip! Would definitely come back again!!!

We had a wonderful time at Gasthaus! The house was spotless and extremely well equipped and comfortable. It is a perfect spot for a relaxing weekend with friends. The house has a beautiful living room with a large fireplace, and a large open kitchen with a kitchen bar, which was perfect for cooking as a group. The outdoor space also provides multiple lounging areas, with a beautiful wrap-around porch, a fire pit with folding chairs, and a beautiful lawn. It wasn't a major issue for us, but we had no phone coverage and the internet was very spotty -so make sure to download a map of the area, as well as the check-in instructions as you may not be able to access them when you arrive at the house.
