Family friendly, home town hospitality! Rural setting with urban amenities. Excellent opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Located in close proximity to the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area. Public lands, roads, lakes and rivers offer countless ways to spend the days - hike, bike, swim, boat, fish, ATV, snowmobile, cross-country ski, snowshoe etc.

Gorgeous scenery and home. This beautiful property was so perfect for our growing family. Very clean and well stocked with sweet touches of snacks and cookies. The swing set and sandbox were perfect for the little boys and the pond an adventure for the big boys. Great accommodations were made for the little ones such as high chairs and baby gates. We watched family movies in theater and ate popcorn. We will definitely be back

The Elk Barn Inn was the perfect spot for our family reunion. Through the year prior to coming I was in contact with Meggen, the host. All my questions I had were answered in detail and in a timely manor. From the moment our clan turned into the Inn we were in awe. The views surrounding the Inn were stunning. Walking into the lodge we all felt relaxed and at home. The decor in every room was meaningful. If we could all have a kitchen like the Elk Barn…..Everything we needed and more was there, as well as the entire house. There was so much room for the family. Also the grounds were well equipped with games and relaxing areas, The Inn was a dream come true for all of us. Thank you very much Meggen, best host ever. We hope to do it again in two years.

I don't think I can really add anything to what all the other reviews say. It's all true. This is an amazing place to stay. Absolutely everything has been thought of. It is 110% spic and span clean. Everything is just absolutely beautiful, inside and out. We would love to come back.

We had the privilege to spend several days at this amazing place . So many activities for everyone. The kids never asked what is there to do…..actually there wasn’t time to do it all. This place is built for large groups and handles it beautifully. The owner has thought of everything and more to make your stay the most memorable ever. We will certainly return again. Thanks Meggan and the staff…..we are all missing the Elk Barn Inn.

Our second stay at the Elk Barn was as enjoyable as our first. We love being enveloped in nature where everyone has their own space and can find something they enjoy doing. The kids loved the creek, the teens and adults loved ping pong and pickleball (created our own court) and everyone loved the nightly wiffle ball games. We plan one day out to hike and swim at Kootenai Falls and bowl at the lanes in nearby Troy. Hard to beat this lovely place.

The Elk Barn Inn was the perfect spot for our family reunion. We filled the lodge, had three RVs and used the Cowboy Cabin. The lodge had all we needed for our group . Meggen has added little touches everywhere that were appreciated. The setting is stunning and the pond was a refreshing spot in the hot afternoon. We all (28 of us) agreed the Elk Barn Inn is exceptional!

As a professional traveler, I stay in 8 to 10 home rentals a year with large groups. The Elk Barn is easily in the top three I have ever stayed in - absolutely ZERO complaints! Meggen makes everything easy and bends over backwards, even helping us come up with anniversary decorations last minute. Never have I ever seen a more fully stocked house - from multiple washer/dryers, multiple refrigerators, multiple cover bars and microwaves, all the way to EVERY POSSIBLE cooking spice or equipment you could need. SO SO SO CLEAN! Additionally, the outdoor space is as grand as the indoor. You could arrive at the Elk Barn and never leave and you would be fine. The pond and creek are especially magical.
Staying here allows you see so much during the daytime.

The Elk Barn Inn is nothing short of spectacular! The pictures really do not do this place justice. The forests and surrounding mountains are jaw dropping, as is the barn itself.
We spent 5 nights with a full group of 9 kids and 16 adults for a family get together. There was never a shortage of beautiful views, fun things to do, or warm cozy spots to hang out. Being close to the Cabinet Mountains, the Clark Fork River, and Lake Pend Oreille, meant we were able to take several day trips to local areas as well!
Meggen was a great host, and we'll for sure be back in the future.

This place was fantastic for our family reunion!
The Inn was even better than it looked in the pictures. The rooms and gathering spaces were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Lots of kitchen space for our crew of 25. We enjoyed the property so much too- lots of great amenities. The pond and stream are great and Meggen made us feel welcome and was attentive when we had a need. Great stay- highly recommend!

Family in Montana
We loved this exclusive get away in Montana! The property was amazing with so many activities and the house was even more amazing with all the space and accommodations. It was so nice to have food and snacks there because we didn’t realize how far away from stores we were. The kids had so much fun and the owner was available when we needed her! A blast at the Barn!
We are Friends and Families that ride snowmobile’s through the winter and love to check new places out! The riding was good after we got some fresh snow, our stay at the Barn was better than expected! We are all in to see stay at the Barn again next year!
Meggen is the general manager and the owner, she was great to meet and find out a little bit about the Barn. I would like to thank her and her family for rebuilding the Barn so we can enjoy it also!

Simply Stunning, Hostess is Incredible
Meggen was a born hostess. Every area of this property and home is thoughtfully designed and stocked for maximum comfort, convenience and fun for all ages. No detail was overlooked and there were special touches to be found throughout.
To say this home was ideal for our event would be an understatement, I didn't hear the slightest critique from anyone in our party the entire weekend. There is no way a photo could capture the grand beauty of this home, it just has to be seen in person. We already had high hopes for our stay, but our expectations were surpassed in every way. I can't thank Meggen enough for providing such a wonderful location and for being so easy to work with. This location provided us with memories that we will all cherish for a lifetime.

Family Reunion
The Elk Barn Inn is a little piece of heaven and our family loved every minute of our stay. Meggen’s attention to every detail was noticed and appreciated at every turn, like homemade chocolate chips cookies (and many other snacks) to greet the weary travelers and fans and extra blankets in every room. The inn is spacious with many areas to gather in large or small groups. We played lots of games! The kitchen is a caterers dream and we found every possible pan, bowl and tool needed. The kids spent hours playing wiffle ball in the spacious gravel parking area and they especially enjoyed skipping rocks and wading in the creek and pond even though the water temperature took their breath away. We brought many of our own games and yard toys but didn’t even need to get them out. The kids had so much fun playing outside we never felt the need to bring out the craft projects we planned. Everyone slept comfortably and the early risers didn’t wake the late sleepers since the bedrooms are separated from the main gathering areas. We spent one day visiting the Ross Creek Giant Cedars, Kootenai Falls and the Swinging Bridge—all spectacular sights. We even rented the bowling alley in Troy where we were treated like honored guests. Very memorable family reunion.

The Elk Barn is fantastic!
We just returned home from our stay at the Elk Barn. We loved every minute we were there. It is in a gorgeous setting, with so many outdoor things to do and see. We loved the pond, the creek and the lawn games. The Barn itself was amazing - Meggen really has thought of everything! The rooms were so comfortable, the kitchen and breakfast area were so well stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again. I can' say enough good things about this special place!

Very nice!
Beautifully furnished and decorated property! We were there during a heat wave and the cooling was inadequate on the 3rd floor (1 bedroom and theater room) but otherwise we had a wonderful stay! Grounds and pond were nice, too. The pond was a nice respite from the heat and accomodated our 16 grandchildren well. They have made a beach with a fine gravel that extends all the way to the island so its not weedy and doesn't have sticks that hurt your feet. They also provided a nice array of treats that were enjoyed by all. We had a great time!

We had a large family reunion filling all the rooms. Such a wonderful time!! Meggen has this place so cute with everything stocked. She even had a huge full jar of homemade chocolate cookies & it doesn't stop there. So, many extra amenities if you forget something. You will not be disappointed!

Long weekend getaway
We got together for my wife’s 40th birthday. The whole family from Grandma all the way down to my 5 year old daughter, all said there were 19 of us at the Lodge.
The accommodations were so far above our expectations. Everything was immaculate, well stocked, inviting, and comfortable. It seemed like the place just kept going with a new surprise around every corner.
We spent 4 days snowmobiling, relaxing, playing games, and eating. It was a perfect getaway. Highly recommend the Elk Lodge for any large group looking to spend time together. Plenty of community spaces along with private suites for all. Awesome place!
