Right in the middle of central Lisbon, this spacious 6-bedroom apartment with a bow window and a separate dining room is ideal if you fancy the comfort of feeling at home.
DESCRIPTION
Space, comfort and class define an apartment situated in one of the most impressive buildings in a street parallel to Avenida da Liberdade. Built in the Belle Époque style, with bow windows, a lift and beautiful tiles in the lobby, it’s easy to feel like you’re in Brussels or Paris, famous for their Art Nouveau architecture. The spacious living room has tall windows with lovely painted details and an unusual bow window (these are very rare in Lisbon), which looks onto buildings from the 30s and 40s. Particularly striking is the bow window area, which has beautiful stucco decorated ceilings. There is a separate dining room with a table for 12. Bedrooms are attractive and colorful and include white laced curtains. The bathrooms have been renovated, as has the fully equipped kitchen.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Avenida de Liberdade is the most sophisticated and expensive avenue in Lisbon. Defined by a combination of Belle Époque and modern buildings as well as many leafy trees, here you can find stores of brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Cartier and others. 5-star hotels and top-end restaurants complete the description of an Avenue where, in the 19th century, Portuguese high society loved to walk, greet people of similar status, talk business and flirt. Yet, the area is also home to local grocers and shops as well as small, inexpensive and rather good restaurants.
Located parallel to this avenue, the apartment is excellent for exploring Lisbon given its central situation. Served by metro and plenty of buses, you can easily reach the striking Praça do Comércio, Rua Augusta’s triumphant archway and the famous Martinho da Arcada café, where the world renowned poet, Fernando Pessoa, used to have his daily coffee. Lively Rossio with its many cafés is also nearby. A bit further, in the opposite direction, is Estrela Cathedral, from where you can get a perfect bird’s eye view over the city rooftops and unending blue Tagus. Buses or the metro will take you to Cais do Sodré train station, which serves the sunny Cascais and Estoril summer resorts. Within walking distance, you have the beautifully renovated Rossio train station, from where you can reach Lord Byron’s beloved town of Sintra. The metro – Avenida metro station is a 3-minute walk from the apartment – will take you to the airport or Santa Apolónia train station in less than 15 min. Taxis also abound, so moving comfortably around the city won’t be a problem.
The apartment is just a stone’s throw from some of Lisbon’s hot spots: Marquês do Pombal square and Eduardo VII park (5min); Rossio square (7 min); Principe Real, the unmissable quarters of Chiado and Bairro Alto (20 min); Amoreiras Shopping Center (25 min); and Alfama with its many cultural treasures (30 min).

It turned out that the weather was cool enough, but I chose the property in large part due to the listing stating AC. The master bedroom and living room are AC, but the rest of the unit is not. The multiple bathrooms were EXCELLENT to have with 9 adults staying there. Overall, I would stay again.

A family of 7 with 5 kids 14 and older. Loved the apartment- it had plenty of rooms and it was what they stated in the pictures. The location was perfect - LOVED the front room so full of light and the windows allowed for cross circulation. There is only one bedroom with airconditioner and the family room. They dont get it very cold but with the temp at 75 outside the apartment did not get very hot and at night the windows open cooled it down. It is a noisy street from wed- sunday with restaurants and bars downstairs. They are building a new bldg across the street and you hear that in the AM. Place was VERY clean and big and nice
5.0 / 5.0
The apartment was large and was a great accommodation for our large group. The location was perfect. It should be posted that there are only two rooms that are air conditioned and the others are very hot. Would stay again.
4.0 / 5.0
This apartment is nice. The living room is very nice for a spot for the family to hang out. The rooms were fine. Our door didn’t close completely, which wasn’t ideal, and there was a very strong, unpleasant smell coming from the back bathroom that should be addressed. Otherwise, nice location and a good place for a larger group.

We had 13 family members meet in Lisbon for a wonderful holiday. This rental was great for all of us with plenty of space in the perfect location. Public transport was just around the corner and it was easy to walk as well.

Beautiful Apartment with lots of room to spread out. The location is great and just outside of the main tourist areas. We had some excellent local places to eat at and two supermarkets nearby (including Aldi's). It was a wonderful vacation spot!

Idea was a large apartment easily accommodated up to 12 people. Centrally located.

We had two families visit from the USA and a total of 10 adults. The unit had everything we needed including 5 bathrooms. We cooked in one evening and breakfast one morning of our 5 night stay. The unit was in a great location and very quiet. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay a Liberdade I. Paula is a gracious host and all our needs were met. The apartment is stunning and perfectly located. We could walk or metro everywhere easily. I highly recommend for large groups. We were 6 siblings with our spouses and there was plenty of room.

We all absolutely loved this apartment, and loved the location. The windows were beautiful and loved the old style elevator. (Only 2 can fit in the elevator at one time so be patient or take the stairs) It had everything we needed, and there was lots of space for the 11 of us that stayed there. It had a real old time feeling and that’s what we were looked for in Lisbon. Great place!

Great location. We enjoyed our stay in this property. Very spacious. I would have given 5 stars if not for 2 things. First we did not know that it’s not AC in all rooms. This was one downfall as summers in Lisbon gets super hot. We especially looked for a place that advertised with AC, maybe the add should include AC only in living room and one bedroom. The other downside is there’s a weird smell, specially in the kitchen. Perhaps old pipes? And kitchen is a bit small. But other than that, it’s a lovely space. Very elegant.

As a large group of two families (11 people) we enjoyed the spaciousness and character of the apartment, multiple bathrooms and easy walking distance to the sights and laneways of Lisbon. Our host was extremely helpful in giving tips on key places to visit, restaurants and cafes
4.0 / 5.0
Large apartment in great location. Close to shopping, restaurants, groceries and Metro. Air conditioning in Living Room and Master bedroom only, however, nights were cooler and manageable with open windows and bedroom fans. Apartment building has elevator. Apartment is on fourth floor of building.
4.0 / 5.0
The place was beautiful and the host was easy to work with. The amenities listed air conditioning however it was only in the main room and one bedroom so the other bedrooms were hot. The back bathroom also had an odor.
5.0 / 5.0
Our group of 10 friends found the apartment's location ideal for exploring all of the city's attractions, whether walking, metro, tram or taxi (and ferry for crossing the river). It was a great base to come back to as well, and there is no shortage of cafes and restaurants within walking distance, with a number of pleasant squares to be found round and about. We felt at home in the apartment, and in the city, during our 7 night stay.
5.0 / 5.0
We travelled with our children and grandchildren and stayed in Lisbon for the first 4 nights. The apartment was just as expected, very comfortable, spacious and clean. The hosts were very professional and prompt in responding to my enquiries. It was a very pleasant experience from start to finish. Will definitely stay there again.
3.0 / 5.0
My family and another family (5 adults, 5 kids between 3 and 8 years old) stayed in the apartment for a week. The location is amazing and the layout is perfect for groups. The beds were comfortable and the apartment is quiet, both of which are important to us when traveling with kids. Communication with the owners was also great - they are very responsive and helpful.
Unfortunately, the big downside for us was the smell. The bathrooms all have an extremely strong sewer smell that they attempted to mask with Jasmine diffusers, which somehow made the experience worse. I was told that it's an old building and sometimes it smells, but that the smell would go away once the water runs. However, it never went away. While the smell was strongest in the bathrooms, it permeated the house. I wouldn't say I am generally sensitive to smells, and I was bothered by it, and my friend who never lost her sensitive smell from pregnancy was suffering.
Overall, I wouldn't return due to the smell alone. But if that kind of thing doesn't bother you, it's really a great apartment. Maybe we just got unlucky with a particularly smelly week, which would explain why none of the other reviews mention the smell.
Another tip- if you like more than one pillow and towel per person, you should ask in advance. We received only one of each, and I like two pillows to prop my head up, and an extra towel or two as a spare when the others are being washed. Not a huge deal, but extras would have been nice.

The property had more than enough space to accommodate 8 adults comfortably. The property manager,s communication and process were great. They even went about to recommend places to see and eat. The location was perfect. If you have an appreciation for older homes, this place is perfect. Highly recommended.

Perfect location to explore Lisbon
A group of nine of us stayed att he property for a week in July. The location is very central to getting around Lisbon. The bedrooms were all good but the bathrooms varied in quality with a couple needing a plumbing upgrade. The main living and dining room are amazing and great for large groups. Checkout was a rather formal affair with a detailed inspection of the property and no flexibility on departure time.
Overall a good experience and good communication with the owners.

Perfect place for our family vacation.
This place was ideal in so many ways. We loved the feel and layout provided space and quiet times from children! Only complaint was construction going on in building, but I think they were done sanding the day we left. Lol! Fabulous stay, hope to return.

Great place for a big family
It is not easy to find a place like this, with so many bedrooms and bathrooms, all of good size, in a comfortable house, where you can cook and feel at home, and in a great part of town. It was awesome. Thanks!

Lovely spacious apartment
This apartment is well located within walking distance of the sea front and old town.
It is an incredibly spacious apartment with lots of space for large groups. It was clean and well equipped, and the owners were very responsive, friendly and accommodating. They were able to arrange an earlier check in which was appreciated. At check-in they made helpful recommendations about places to see and eat.
We had a lovely time in Lisbon.

Great stay in Lisbon
Our group of 5 couples enjoyed our stay in Lisbon. The apartment was clean and spacious and the check-in was very helpful - complete with city maps, guides and recommendations. The apartment is ideally located on a quiet street just off of one of the city's main (and picturesque) grand avenues. There were two restaurants steps away (they looked good and were well-crowded but we didn't have time to try). Lisbon is a beautiful, friendly, walkable city and our hosts made us feel right at home!

As a group of 14 (6 adults and 8 children) from we could not have been happy with the property, location, owner and host. The property had nice bedrooms, ample bathrooms and great dining table and living area. The kitchen was very functional. We were able to have nice meals at the large table and really loved that ability. The location is fantastic. You can walk to shopping, the metro, the bus station and to the downtown area. There is also a great butcher right across the street! The owner (Fatima) was super helpful with communication and helped us with transport from the airport and an earlier check in. Daniel (Host) walked us through the house, the neighborhood and gave us some good insider tips.Lisbon is an awesome city and this is an awesome place to stay.

Pleasant stay
Apartment was in excellent location. Check in was easy and the apartment had a very historical feel. Fatima and Jose were very helpful with any questions and provided great information for exploring Lisbon. When we discovered we had left a bag inside after locking the apartment at departure, Fatima had Jose arrive within minutes to help.

We had a lovely time staying in this Lisbon apt with friends. Lots of room for everyone to have their own space, plus a large living and dining room for us all to be together. Trip of a lifetime
We were a party of 9 and we arrived in Lisbon and we were greeted by Ze. The check in was flawless. The information he gave us was priceless. The apartment was immaculate and so roomy that we never felt cramped. Beds were very comfortable and we slept like babies after full days of walking and the metro. Very central to everything. The bus station and Metro were steps away from us. Had an amazing time and could not have asked for anything more!!!

Could not have been more pleased.
Great place, great location, and great country. All of us, (9), had a great time and thought the apartment could not have been any better. It gets my highest grade of all the apartments I have rented across Europe. Thanks to all.

comfortable apartment for large group in great Lisbon location
Clean, comfortable, lots of room for our extended family of 15, great location (walk to heart of old-town, small butcher shop across street, grocery at corner, great restaurants flank the building, others within a few blocks), helpful owner/managers, esp. Ze at check-in/check-out, charming historic building.

Fabulous Lisbon apartment!
This apartment was a classic style with high ceilings & gorgeous solid wood doors! It’s been renovated and was extremely comfortable. We were a group of 3 families and friends & it gave us plenty of space.
We were greeted at check-in by Carlos who gave us a detailed overview of the apartment and even gave us advice on what to visit in Lisbon. They were also very responsive when we had an internet issue and got it working quickly.
The apartment is centrally located and it was very easy to walk to all the major sites. The metro is near and there is also a market down the block.
I would highly recommend this apartment! We were very sad to leave it!! Thanks for sharing this wonderful apartment with us!

Great location and accommodated 15 of us!
May 2018: We were part of the city and walked most places. At night, great setup for card games and socializing. High ceilings and grand windows were a positive.
One door down, MadMary cafe was perfect for a daily stop. They have great coffees, smoothies, sandwiches, yogurt/granola/fruit among other treats available when restaurants are closed during siesta. They bake their own bread so try the crusty baguettes, croissants and multigrains. Staff is very friendly.
Minimart across intersection diagonally for groceries.
Place was great but, as you can see from my focus areas, location with local ways to eat is near to my heart.
