A wonderful cottage in a peaceful countryside location with rolling countryside views, and great walking and cycling straight from the door. Enjoy the fantastic south facing sunny garden with birds tweeting and cows parading on the field opposite. This bijoux little cottage with Scandinavian influenced design and top quality fittings throughout is lovingly restored with plenty of character.
Warm and welcoming it has everything you need for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Included is everything you could possibly need free Wi-Fi, top quality bedlinen and towels, DVDs, books, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, espresso coffee machine. Interiors are carefully chosen to create a peaceful and comfortable retreat.
Located in a picture perfect quirky town of Wirksworth with a walk away from range of independent shops, boutique art-house cinema, monthly farmers market, french bistro, local delicatessen, annual arts festival, micro-pub selling records and local ales, antique shops and country pubs. Wirksworth is an ideal place for a local relaxing stay, or to venture further into hills of the Peak District.
Hillside Cottage offers a peaceful, calming, spacious and airy double bedroom on first floor with exposed beams, high ceiling and a skylight window letting in lots of natural light and sunshine. A comfortable and chic Laura Ashley king-size bed with a lovely coil sprung mattress with memory foam top, luxurious mattress topper, fluffy pillows and high quality cotton bed linen for a peaceful sleep. Next to the bedroom there is a beautiful and stylish modern bathroom with freestanding sink and powerful shower, as well as nice fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.
Downstairs has a fully equipped kitchen with high-quality Smeg appliances, including dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine, and plenty of supplies for cooking and baking.
The cottage has everything you need for a perfect holiday and all the little extras like hair dryer, ipod dock, ironing board, free Wi-Fi, DVD player, internet enabled TV and books to read. A home away from home. Guests often comment how spotlessly clean the cottage is and what an amazing tucked away retreat feeling it has.
The sunny South facing garden is a real suntrap with all day sunshine and lots of wild birds and butterflies. There is a table and chairs to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy a sunset. In the autumn you can watch the beautiful autumn colours of the trees on the fields opposite. In the winter you might be lucky to get amazing snowy fields or a frosty morning views from the cottage. This is a beautiful tucked away little cottage. Just bliss.
Wirksworth provides an ideal base to explore the Peak District at any time of the year, with plenty of walks straight from the front door and close proximity to High Peak Trail and Carsington Water for cycling, canoing and walking, as well as close to stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. It is easy to just enjoy a lazy day in the town sampling great cake and coffee in one of the independent coffee shops with a newspaper and a stroll around the quirky and historic narrow lanes and streets of Wirksworth. St Mary’s Church, the Star Disc and the old hidden footpaths around The Dale and Greenhill offer great exploration of local heritage and architecture, and brilliant views.
Plenty of cultural activity in the town with an annual arts festival, open gardens, spring carnival, well dressings, open air cinema screenings and music nights in the pubs.
Hillside Cottage is located in Gorsey Bank, a short walk away from town centre. Gorsey Bank is a delightful hamlet of character homes located just on the outskirts of Wirksworth, overlooking the town. Many of the homes were built for the employees of Providence Mill, once a hive of industry, where narrow red tape to bind legal documents was produced. Gorsey Bank has a web of paths and walkways leading in and around this historic site.
Please note that this cottage is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility.

Very clean and fresh. Versatile kitchen. Very comfortable base for exploring the Peak District

The cottage is small, but perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is a great starting point for various trips to the surrounding area. We had a great time and would recommend it to everyone!
Just one thing: the last few yards to the cottage are on a rather steep hill (hence "Hillside") and it can be a bit tricky to park your car there. You'll need to ascend the last few yards up to the cottage, but if you're reasonably fit, it shouldn't be a problem.

Great little cottage
Visited this lovely little cottage over the Jubilee weekend. Perfect base for couples for exploring the south of the Peak District and about a 10 minute stroll into the village of Wirksworth which has several decent pubs and eateries. We did trips to Matlock Bath, the Heights of Abraham and Chatsworth House all within half an hour of the property. Everything about the cottage was lovely and we even bumped into Tiina who gave us some tips on places to go and kept in touch with us before and during our stay when needed. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing
The cottage was in a great location, close by to main points of interest and was presented immaculately. It truly felt like a home away from away and the views were amazing. Little touches of some milk in the fridge and sugar etc available was great. The owner was also very responsive

Lovely quirky cottage
This is a wonderful place, quirky and very cosy. It’s a steep climb up to the cottage and the stairs are steep too, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues, but otherwise I highly recommend it. I also love that all the cleaning products etc are eco-friendly. I will definitely be back. Thank you Tina.

Cosy cottage, good location
Lovely cosy cottage, clean and very well equipped. It has a nice elevated position and a small garden with table and chairs which is perfect for a morning coffee or afternoon cuppa. There are lots of walks in the area so we didn't use our car during our stay, we parked near the church, a short walk away. Tiina is a great host and responds quickly. Highly recommended.

Hillside cottage
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, cosy cottage. Perfect position as shops, pubs, restaurants, walks all within easy reach but far enough out of the way to be quiet and peaceful at night. Only downside is the steep hill up to the cottage- not a problem for us but could be for anyone less fit / able . Will definitely go again.

Lovely cottage in a working town
We enjoyed our stay in what is a perfect cottage for two.
We
Had dinner at the pub which was good and also went to the arts cinema which is recommended.
Wirksworth itself isn’t picturesque but has lovely countryside on its doorstep

First visit to Derbyshire
Spotless cottage. Kitchen well equipped. Nice to have milk in fridge on arrival. Need that cuppa after a long journey! Take the car to top of the lhill where cottage is, unload as no parking immediately outside prooerty. No problems with parking at the bottom of the hill. Altogether a delightful experience in Derbyshire.

Relax in comfort and style
This property is just as described, in fact probably better! The owners have thought of every detail that could make your stay comfortable and feel like you are really treating yourself to a relaxing break. The location is not for the faint hearted but it was exactly what we wanted and needed! So peaceful! The bed was comfortable and the cottage was incredibly clean. Finally the communication from the owners was quick, exact and useful. Highly recommended!

Hillside must be the nearest to heaven you’ll ever get.
Hillside is just perfect, a warm welcome from Tiina heralds a wonderful stay. The views are stunning. You can sit outside and enjoy just the sound of silence. Nothing has been forgotten to make it an outstanding stay. Comfortable bed, that you can lie in and enjoy the view. Fully equipped kitchen, tv and DVD player. If you don’t stop here you’ve missed out. We can’t wait to go again.

Cosy cottage
We had a lovely stay at Hill side cottage.
When we arrived Tiina had kindly left a pint of milk and cakes, which were very much appreciated!
The cottage was clean and beautifully decorated with a lovely small garden which had great views down to Wirksworth.
Unfortunately the weather was very wet and quite chilly during our stay but we felt warm and cosy as we retreated back to the cottage.
Just wish we could have taken advantage of the lovely garden and been able to take in the beautiful views!

My husband and I stayed at this eminently pleasant property for almost three weeks. We were very comfortable and could not fault the amenities. We were impressed by the owner's response to recommendations made in the book provided for that purpose and noted that all reasonable suggestions were duly dispatched. The general feeling expressed in the small extras such as biscuits on arrival, copious information on the best way to see Wirksworth and its surrounds, clear instructions on the use of all electrical equipment in the cottage and no stinting on appliances was one of genuine desire to ensure that the guests in the cottage really enjoyed their stay in true holiday fashion.
