+ it was cheap
+ Common outside area
+ Safe parking
- we got a whole dorm for us, which was not really clean and smelled very bad
- bathroom was inside the room, open on top and also not super clean
- kitchen was dirty
1.0
I wondered what happened because what I read in other comments about being perfect and what I saw was so different.
First of all, everything is very very dirty.
The kitchen is unusable as it disgusting - the fridges are rusty and inside there's just so much left over and rotting food.
The (only cold) shower is full with cockroach and with wires you can see.
Also, the doorm was next to their living area, so it's very noisy. They watch or listen to very loud things so don't expect to relax. They also wake up, talk and cook breakfast at 4:30 am.
The open area could have been nice if it wasn't for the smell of dog pee.
I've booked 4 nights, I left after 2.

José was fantastic and very friendly. Nice for a night or two; I recommend anyone who is here for the bioluminescence to stay in this hostel.
10.0
José and José are very nice hosts! They help you with everything you need. I felt at home. It s very clean (thanks José for cleaning so good ;) ), 5mn by foot from the town center, 2mn from a soda. Safe place to be and to have nice conversations with this tico family!
Honestly, I don't have anything to complain about.

I liked the shared facilities
The room was extremely hot, and there were mosquitos
5.0
-eating space was nice
-allowed us to use washer and dryer
-proximity to markets and bank
-hostel workers were being too “friendly” and we felt very uncomfortable and scared
-bugs in the shower
-insanely hot with horrible fans that don’t really promote airflow
-a plug sparked electricity and exposed dangerous wires
-didn’t feel very clean in the room
-very molded and rusted fridges and lots of moldy food inside
-the town is really small and was scary to walk around after dark, lots of places with no signal
-Might have bed bugs! ppl in our group got many bites that appear like bed bug bites

very nice location, helpful staff
the room was a bit hot, the fan was very loud

lovely staff, super helpful for booking taxis and very smiley. location was useful and in the middle of lots of restaurants and only about 10 minutes drive from all the attractions (ferry/ bioluminescence/ tortuga tour). lovely outdoor areas to sit and chill. we got given an absolutely massive room too which was great
our room was ridiculously hot, way hotter than outside. we had to leave the doors open to cool it down and the fan we were given didn’t help much. the kitchen was a bit of a mess too

It was fine for a short stay. The Curu wildlife refuge nearby and the bioluminescent kayaking nearby are amazing. So it's location for that is good.
When the skinny dog was on a chain he was very sad, (he loved pets though)
The room was quite hot at night and the sheets didn't fit the bed/were broken so the mattress kept being exposed.

Very good spot for travel around. Owner is a very nice PURA VIDA guy, we went with his brother (He has a boat) to Isla Tortuga just for 23$ each! We spent there all day And they gave us Snorkeling equipment! Its also Very nice And couzy hostel with good vibe And its the cheapest hostel around. Room And bathroom are clean. U can cook in big kitchen. They can wash your laundry for free!

Nice, clean and calm place. Jose is very friendly and I felt a little bit like home so I can definitely recommend the place.
The only thing that could be improved are the lockers in the dormitory. At the moment there is none and it would feel safer if I could lock there my passport. But it didn't feel unsafe and also Jose helped me hide it.

The owner was absolutely welcoming and always around to help or have a talk. He helped me to find all the information I need. The hostel is clean and well equipped ! Gracias !

The hostel was clean, the common area is spacious and cosy at the same time. Rooms are big and great value for the price! The owner and his son are very welcoming people and I’ll remember their kindness for long! If you have any doubts then leave them behing and book the room at this hostel. You’ll feel as a part of the family not a hostel guest. (In the area you can search fir the bluminescence which is a big location advantage)
I liked everything

great for a cheap nights stay before taking the ferry to puntarenas

They were very helpful with helping schedule a kayaking Tur last minute and providing me a with a lift.

The host was kind. We had access to the global area of the hostel which was cool
Even with a booking when we arrived the hostel was full and our room taken. We had to be settled in another dirty hostel with ants walking on the wall and people trying to entry at 3am. Definitely a bad night

Great host, easy to find, great value

the host was very gracious, he would make coffee for anyone that was around and just sit and relax with me and we would try and communicate, me learning Spanish and he was learning English. supper chill atmosphere.
at night there was a lot of bugs that came out and haunted me in the porch while I was trying to read, I just chocked that up to being in a place next to the jungle.

The price was very low and we had our own room. Still I would not recommend.
The room was smelling very bad. The cover of the mattress was cheap and did not hold on the mattress so in the morning we were laying on the bare mattress which was not very comfortable regarding the bad smell of the room...
5.0
Good location if you want to visit the Curu Reservation.
There were ants not only in the room but actually on the bed itself, and big ones!
Kitchen was disorganized and really really dirty (leftovers everywhere, the trash was full which attracted a bunch of mosquitoes).
