About this house rental

Located on upper level of the historic Pier 14 Pilot Station (still operated by the Columbia River Pilots) the Pilot House is an elegantly appointed luxury suite in the heart of Astoria's historic waterfront. Surrounded by water, nearly every room offers a panoramic view of the Columbia River. The dock is a 24 hour working dock, with pilots and pilot boat coming and going. (There is noise from pilot boat starting and pilots coming and going all night)

The 1700 square foot unit has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths with 4 gas fireplaces. The spacious living room has leather furniture with a queen-size sofa bed. There is a fully stocked kitchen with a dining room that can seat 6 people. The master bedroom suite has a king size bed, full bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub and shower with a private deck off to the river.
The Pilot House has the warmth and feel of a home with high-end features of a four-star hotel. The building was restored in 2005 and is listed on the National Historic Register of Historic places. Inside you will find museum quality maritime artifacts throughout.
Astoria is the perfect getaway for any interest... history, outdoor adventure, or maritime activity. The Pilot House is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and many local attractions. Both the 5-mile river walk and trolley line run right outside the door.

This was our second visit to the property. The views are sublime, the mood of the water changes constantly and there is continuous action as pilot boats, ships and pleasure craft cruise past. There were 6 of us plus a 30 month old child. We cooked in every night for greater sociability than going to a restaurant. It was like being home but it was a vacation. You will not be disappointed here.

The views of the river are terrific. The living room wall is all glass and it was fascinating to watch the big ships go in and out, as well as the pilot boats go out to meet them and assist them through the difficult waters in and out of the ocean. The location is terrific--you can easily walk to several restaurants from the VRBO as well as walk to the Marine Museum, which is well worth the walk.

We loved the entire experience at the Pilot House! There were 6 of us staying for just one night for a weddingat the Astor Hotel which was walkable! The views and accomodations at this propert were spectacular! I wish we could have stayed longer!

Teresa Olson was really easy to work with. She was accurate and quick in replying to my questions. She did exactly as she said she would throughout the entire process. There were no unpleasant surprises, only happy ones. The view is so fun and very entertaining. The pilots went out to the ships often, waving to us on their way in and out. It was fun to see all the activity. We never heard noise at night and never used the provided earplugs at each bedside. I wish it had 4 bedrooms so no one in my family had to sleep on the sofa but I would highly recommend the Pilot House.

I still feel like it was a dream...waking up and having coffee with that view of the Columbia River right in front of me. Amazing! Astoria is great, we love it. The Pilot House though...it made our trip one of the very best yet! It was hands down the most comfortable and relaxing place to stay! I have NOTHING negative to say. The beds are amazing, the view is priceless and we felt like royalty with our parking spots. We traveled with friends (3 couples total) and it was the perfect accommodation for us all. All three couple slept great as well. The noise was not an issue at all. The Host...she is amazing too! To those who are reading this... Click "Book Now" if it's available. You WILL NOT regret it. It's worth every penny and you won't want to leave either! Chang!

We were super excited about our stay at the Pilot House and it was even better than we expected. Beds are super comfortable, kitchen well appointed and you can’t beat the view! It was really exciting being right in the middle of all the boats/ships comings and goings. And the location is great too! Right in the historic part of town. We loved this rental! It was spacious, clean and right in the middle of everything in downtown Astoria. You can walk most anywhere and the food and shops are convenient and excellent. We highly recommend Gizmo’s Arcade and the Surf 2 Soul food truck. Highly recommend a stay for any large family or group.

The property is so unique. We walked into what looked like a warehouse. Then we found a door that led up to 20 steps up. At the top of the 20 steps was this absolutely beautiful three bedroom, three bath apartment that sits over the Columbia River. It was truly breathtaking. Exceptionably clean. We had a wonderful time and can't wait until we return. The only problem we faced was that we could not figure out how to turn on the TV in the living room.

Six adults stayed a the property, which was in the perfect location in Astoria. If had a great view of the river, the ships and pilot boats, and the seals. Everything was in walking distance. We cooked in each night and the only negative I had was that the "gourmet kitchen" wasn't really gourmet. There wasn't a pot big enough to make seafood stew, for instance, and there were a number of items you should find in a normal kitchen that just weren't there. I don't really mark them down for this, as we rarely find a kitchen that is well stocked with cooking utensils, etc., but felt I should point it out. Otherwise the beds were comfortable, the music system was great, the fireplace was warm, and the view was spectacular.

The property was exactly as the pictures depict! You cannot beat the location and unique property. The views were so incredible and even had sea lions swimming by for entertainment!! A huge great common area for all of us to gather, with fully appointed kitchen, dining table, and plenty of seating for lounging. It was perfect having three bedrooms with queen and king beds with three full baths for couples to get ready and have our space. Absolutely loved our stay and would recommend to anyone!!
