LOCATION:
Capitol Hill radiates a heady sense of geo-political significance with a small town feel. You're just a few blocks away from landmarks like the Supreme Court, U.S. Capitol, Senate and House Office Buildings, and the Library of Congress. At the same time, Hill locals have managed to instill a sense of "neighborhood." It's easy to see why the area's residents cherish their brownstones and tree-lined streets. You'll be able to run most errands on foot, not to mention walking to a variety of restaurants and cafes around Eastern Market and Pennsylvania and Massachusetts Avenues. You'll be near the 11 Smithsonian Museums along our National Mall including the Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art, Sackler and Freer Galleries of African and Asian Art respectively, National Museum of American History, the National Portrait Gallery & American Art Gallery and the list goes on!

TRANSPORTATION:
Leave your car at home, having a car in DC is more a liability than a convenience! Nearby Union Station is a transportation hub for not only Washington DC, but also for the mid-Atlantic region. Union Station is also home to Washington’s Metro Red Line, Metro and Circulator buses, tour operators, and rental cars and bikes. Two train lines, AMTRAK and local MARC trains, also run out of the train station.
If you are driving to DC and need parking, we can also order you a street parking permit. Please check with us first on this, we will need the car make, model, and the plate state & number.

This made a wonderful home-base as we visited family and toured the local attractions. If you like walking historic neighborhoods, it's great for that.

We chose this property based on its description, photos, previous reviews, and location close to the Capitol Building. It was convenient for sightseeing and is within walking distance of the Metro Rail and Bus routes. It has the usual appliances and amenities, including cable TV and good WiFi. The neighborhood is old brownstone buildings and very quiet, which was a plus. On the downside, the couch was uncomfortable (felt like we were sitting in a hole), as was the chair located in the living room. Similarly, the bed had dips on both sides, which was either due to the age/condition of the mattress topper, or the mattress. The topper appeared slightly soiled (body oils) and possibly not routinely cleaned. When you have been on your feet all day walking, you want to relax at the end of the day, so those issues were very disappointing. We intended to wash our clothes at the end of our trip, but decided against that after discovering that the washing machine was not clean (i.e., areas of dirt and hair accumulated over time), which caused us to question the otherwise "clean" appearance of the apartment interior. The bedroom heater worked well, but the heaters located in the front room area put out little heat. We shared our concerns with the property manager. We anticipate that those comments will be communicated to the owner and addressed for the benefit of future tenants.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved to property location. Easy walk to Union Station or Judiciary Square metro stations. Very quiet neighborhood. Th communication with LUXBnB was outstanding. We had some questions about a rental car and parking that steered us away from a car to all public transit, worked out well. Would recommend this property.
