Nice little waterfront cottage. It was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. Just what we were hoping for.

A peaceful and beautiful cottage nestled a few feet from the water's edge. Everything you need for a relaxing stay to recharge and revive was provided. A good nights sleep is guaranteed in a very comfortable bed and the cottage was well equipped, including comfortable chairs inside and out to enjoy the view and the calls of the loons.

Our goal in staying here was to unwind and recover from a very hard and stressful eighteen months and this place did not disappoint. Definitely ten out of ten stars! And Laura was so very wonderful and patient, especially with all of our questions. Laura is simply a very nice lady and a great host. It was the best vacation we have ever had and we definitely plan on going back.

What an amazing place to relax and unwind! The hosts, Laura & Blaine thought of everything to make sure we had the best stay! From the amazing views from the cottage to listening to the loons on the dock, we couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more! Highly recommend!!

Perfect place to work while gazing out at the beautiful lake. Loved the comfort and decor. Easy communication with the owner. Her dogs were great, too, and came to check on me periodically. I plan on returning.

Me spouse and I spent 8 days at the Bunkhouse. It's a great waterfront cabin. Check in was simple. There is a comfortable king size bed. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking.
Also a nice Weber gas grill on the the porch.
The town of Hope is well located. We hiked several of the nearby trails. We made trips into Union, Belfast. Camden, Rockport, and Rockland.
Found the area has some good restaurants.
Overall very enjoyable.

This was our 1st time visiting Maine and I will have to say, this little cottage was the perfect little getaway spot; so cozy and peaceful. The view was amazing, right from the living room. Laura was a great host! She text us first thing morning of check in with a video of how to get to the property, which was perfect when arriving in the dark. She answered quickly to any questions we had and followed up with us about our lost luggage. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Such a perfect place to unwind and recharge. Would definitely stay again!

What a sweet little cottage. The view and having the lake just outside the living room was so peaceful. There was another little living room space at the back of the cottage, however, never even used it. With this view you don’t need it. The cottage has every thing we needed. Will definitely rent again when in the area. Thank you.

As we were bringing in our luggage, we were greeted with a friendly "hello" from her deck. Laura made us feel welcomed from the start, and then her husband, Blaine, came out to join her. Within a few minutes, Gus came down to meet us. Gus is a Bernadoodle who is part of the welcoming committee.
The cabin is small, yes, but very clean, efficient, and homey. Our favorite part was the view of the lake...can be easily seen whether you are at the table or sitting on the sofa. So close you can almost touch the water from the steps.
Thank you, Laura and Blaine for allowing us and many others to enjoy this part of Maine, the way life should be.
Give our best to Gus and Gracey (her Corgy). Hope to see you next year!

My husband and I stayed in this lovely, comfortable and quiet cottage for a week in September. While the weather did not cooperate, we had a wonderful time just relaxing and napping and reading. Just what we needed to recharge. The Bunkhouse is very well appointed, with very comfortable furniture and a cozy big bed, lovely big shower and bathroom for a little cottage. Laura is very nice and helpful she got right back to me when I had a question. Once it stopped raining we could also look forward to visits form Gus the dog! he is a sweetie! There are plenty of restaurants within about a 20 minute drive and the lovely towns of Camden, Rockland and Belfast to visit. We had a wonderful time and would definitely book again.

This is our 2nd stay at the Bunkhouse. The perfect location and perfect hosts. The weather wasn’t that favorable but it didn’t matter. We still enjoyed what the area offered. Laura suggested going to the Botanical Garden in which we did. Well worth it. The highlight of our stay was Laura’s dog, Gus. He started our day with a visit in the morning and ended our day with a visit at night. Such a bonus! Looking forward to another stay at the Bunkhouse.

What a wonderful little retreat, literally steps from the water! Convenient location for outings to Camden and Acadia. Could not ask for a more serene environment to start the day with a cup of coffee and end each one with a glass of wine on the dock or by the fire. You are completely surrounded by the beauty of nature and the cabin has everything you need. Laura was super helpful! Would highly recommend for a couple looking to connect and recharge.

Perfect stay at thoughtfully designed cabin home right on beautiful lake and deck with canoe; modern appliances and other charms (games, firepit, etc) Hosts were responsive and welcoming, as was Gus their dog. We would definitely stay again.

This place is EXACTLY what we needed. The cabin is a great size, super cozy and comfortable. Very clean and stocked with necessities as well as games and puzzles, a large TV and plenty of spaces to curl up with a book, or like we did, just sit and soak in the beauty. Quiet, but we were early in the season. The owners are close by for anything you need, even gave us some really great recommendations. They are a very cool couple who know so much about the area! We wanted a getaway, in a cabin on a lake/pond, where we could relax and listen to the loons, and this place DELIVERED.

My GF and I spent 3 nights at this cottage and enjoyed every second. Whether sitting on the dock, by the Firepit or exploring some of the local seaside towns it was an awesome time.

There is nothing more that can be said about this property and stay than perfect. Everything the owners have claimed to be is exactly that. A very clean and comfortable house that is two steps from the water. My spouse and I stayed for 3 days and we only left the house/lake for about 3 hours.
We enjoyed the quiet warm interior with views of the lake while we relaxed and read. We took the canoe out twice across the lake which was calm and full of wildlife. Saw many ducks, geese, a beaver swimming about, and a hawk snagging some prey. The outdoor seating was a treat on a sunny 70 degree day.
There is a separate tv room behind the front room for some privacy. The kitchen is fully stocked to address any cooking need. We also took advantage of the washer and dryer to catch up on laundry from our long northeast vacation.
I would suggest this property is most ideal for a single or couple. A third could be comfortable but the sleeping arrangements for that person wouldn't be ideal. Secondly, the location of the bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom and may be intrusive if you are using while others are sleeping.
My only complaint for the entire stay is that the right side of the bed is too soft. It felt as though the bed may be worn out on that side as the rest was much firmer. But I sank into the bed quite a bit on the right side and would prefer some support. Fortunately, I was so relaxed from the stay that I was still able to get good sleep.
We will try to book this accommodation again if we come back. Wouldn't consider another place over this one for my spouse and I in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay. Place was comfortable and had all we needed for a pleasant visit to a different part of Maine

This cabin was a wonderful place to stay. It's close (20 minutes) from Camden and Rockport, but remote. It's got a wonderful view through a huge sliding glass door of a small lake, a dock, canoe, patio, and fire pit.
The king size bed is incredibly soft (maybe too soft?), the bath room is small but modern, and the kitchen had everything we needed. This is a two-person cabin.
The hosts live on-site (the cabin is between their home and the lake), were pleasant to talk to the one time we ran into them, and were otherwise non-invasive. I didn't need to ask them for any help, but my sense is that they would have jumped on any problems that had arisen.
If we find ourselves in this area and without the kids again, we'll definitly stay here again.

Laura is the perfect host and the property is wonderful. So peaceful and we are happy to just sit and look at the lake, but it is so close to Camden and Rockland that there is also plenty to explore nearby. Everything is spotless and the cottage is stocked with everything you might need. Can't wait to come back next year!

This is a perfect VRBO for a couple. Comfy king size bed, quaint & homey decor, compact kitchen with dishwasher &!full-size refrigerator, updated shower, washer & dryer, outdoor grill . . . Offering the best view of Alfred Pond (really a lake) steps from the door. Close to Camden and Rockland. Second time that we have rented the place. Thumbs way up!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day stay in this charming, light-filled cabin at the water's edge. The music of the loons was wonderfully evocative, we were surrounded by greenery, the small kitchen was remarkably well-equipped, the king-size bed comfortable, and the furnishings eclectic and cozy. The dock and the watercraft were a plus. The sense of seclusion was palpable. And to top it all, Laura graciously located something we left behind and mailed it back to us. Two thumbs up on this one!

Of all the many rentals I have stayed at in my life, this cottage was hands down the best location. Peace, quiet, lake access, the interior space, the outdoor space—simply divine. Highly recommend, will be returning next year. Laura was a fantastic host.

The cabin was just as described, very cozy, right on the water.
It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
Laura and Blaine were very accommodating.
Laura gave very helpful suggestions for places to visit including a place to buy the freshest lobsters and clams from a lobsterman of 50+ years!!!
If your looking for a relaxing getaway this is the place!!

Fantastic 50th Anniversary Stay
It was the perfect place & location for us to relax & focus on the important things in life as we talked about lives together thus far!
We sat on the dock & watched the birds, listened to the loons & watched their water antics & were amazed at the swift swimming beaver. The eagle gave us a show as he landed on the top branches of a tree & later flew away on the island across from the dock.
The bunkhouse was cozy & had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable & the shower was excellent!
We enjoyed our canoe ride on the pond! The book reading choices have now made us fans of Sister Fidelma!
Our hosts were very gracious & added a surprise or two for us at the request of our daughter-they added to the sweet days of our first visit to Maine.
Oh yes, we Southerners have now been initiated- we had a “lobstah” roll & “lobstah” pie in Rockland on our way to visit the lighthouse!

The Bunkhouse
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bunkhouse. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy all that Maine has to offer. The Bunkhouse was conveniently located to Camden and Rockport. The owner, Laura, was the best on providing info where to explore, dine and even a lesson on e-bikes! We will definitely be back for another stay. Highly recommend. Thank you Laura for making our stay the best Maine vacation yet.

Idyllic!
Laura’s cottage was absolutely perfect for one of the best week-long vacations we’ve ever taken. Having visited coastal Maine several times, we wanted to choose a location that was a bit off the beaten path, central to everywhere we might want to visit, but desirable enough to be the destination rather than just a place to sleep. Laura’s place fit the bill100% on all accounts! Furthermore, Laura and Blaine are top notch hosts. Always available, responsive, and a joy to spend time with. No doubt our experience here will be encouragement for a future trip back to Maine.

The respite we needed.
The place was tidy, well appointed as it was, and quiet. It is near many attractions worth seeing and fine restaurants. What a lovely getaway for a couple or even an individual looking for some solace.

Lovely, Quiet Getaway
A tranquil, beautiful setting - the home is literally feet away from the shoreline providing a spectacular view from inside and outside. The small kitchen provides the necessities to prepare a meal if you wish. We enjoyed cozying in the small t.v. room, and reading books in the living room. The king size bed was appreciated especially by my tall husband, however, the mattress is on the soft side, if this matters. Hope, ME is close to Camden and Portland - two lovely coastal communities of restaurants, shops, galleries, the Wyeth art museum, etc. The only "negative" is that the home is left unlocked (the homeowners live very nearby).

Hidden gem
This is one of those special places that you would like to keep secret from everyone else!! A perfect getaway for the two of us and although the weather was chilly, we are able to get out for two days to paddle the beautiful clear "pond" and enjoy the fall foliage and the wildlife. The bunkhouse is exactly as it is pictured, the bed is so comfortable, sitting on the dock is so peaceful, and we even saw a lonely loon on the pond this morning. The hosts were so friendly and helpful and we can't wait to return.

What a find!
This was one of my favorite ever vacation homes! The house is perfect for a relaxing vacation near Camden. The furnishings are COMFORTABLE! So many vacation homes have uncomfortable furniture but this one was great. It has a rustic feel yet all appliances, and bathroom and bedding and towels all were so modern and up to date and top quality. We skipped Camden mostly just because we didn’t want to leave this house. We so enjoyed the proximity of the lake. Having the canoe to use was also fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about how much we enjoyed this special place.

We didn't want to leave
We chose Lazy Lake as an anchor for some midcoast leaf peepin' but once we got to the property, we didn't want to leave. Laura is a very gracious host and greeted us when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed. She also provided some local places to check out (Beth's Farm Market in Warren was our favorite!). The home is so unique, well stocked with everything you need and it is literally steps from the water. The land surrounding the home is gorgeous and the small landscaping touches just accentuate the land's beauty. We grilled out, sat by the fire pit (with plenty of wood) and spent a lot of time sitting at the end of the pier during the day and watching the stars and Milky way at night. There is also easy access to a canoe from the pier. An added bonus was a visit from Laura's Corgis- Grover & Gracie! We highly recommend this rental and we hope to be back sooner than later.

Perfect Location
Such a beautiful spot on a hidden gem of a pond. Within 20 minutes of all that Mid-Coast Maine has to offer. Host was very responsive and the property is well appointed with all you need to enjoy your getaway. Lots of big bass right off the dock as well.

Perfect couples getaway
Exactly what my husband and I were looking for on our first trip together to Maine. Time for restorative relaxation by the lake, short day trips to eat plenty of seafood and come back and enjoy the beauty of the setting. Equipped for everything needed to prep a light evening meal. Laura was very quick on communicating and providing exploring hints for our visit. Hoping to return.

Pond Perfect
If you appreciate a house with a barely perceptible inside/outside boundary, you’ll love this place. The water laps right up to the house. Large windows are well sited to give full view of the shimmering pond and dock area. Sitting on the floating dock you feel like you’re on a boat with beautiful island and water views on three sides. Close enough to Rockland. Great pastries at the nearby Mic Mac Mart, and Beth’s Farm Stand in Warren is not to be missed!

Intimate and Beautiful Cottage
We loved our week at the cottage. It’s small but it has the best use of space I’ve literally ever seen in my life. You want for nothing. The kitchen especially is great. While it has a quaint cottage feel, all facilities are updated and modern. Deep in the woods, the route to the cottage is a little tricky after dark but wealth worth the effort. We were refuges from Manhattan, it was perfect.
