Great place to meet friendly people, check in/out was easy, more than enough space to cook/shower/chill out!

I fell in love with this place. Yes, it's in the Ohara area, which isn't that convenient (especially with how rarely the bus runs), but this property and the staff were INCREDIBLE. The staff offered a free shuttle to and from the Ohara ferry port, were extremely responsive when I had questions, and also helped me book a night jungle tour with an English-speaking guide (Nature's Delights with Hiro)! I had such an appreciation for how kind the staff were and how supportive they were with all my queries and wishes for adventure.
The property itself is gorgeous. It's in a really nice, jungley area, and they offer bikes that you can use at your leisure, for free. The common spaces are spacious, clean, and full of interesting things. There is a terrace where you can eat, or hang out with other people, and the overall atmosphere was wonderful - everyone was so friendly, and even if there is a language barrier, the locals are always happy to share some food with you and tell you about the Iriomote wildcat, the yamaneko!
Honestly I was so impressed with this property. It really made the trip for me. Thank you so so much.
Just be aware that because of how humid it is, your clothes might not dry very well (there is no dryer, you have to hang them outside). Also the water temperature was a bit fickle, especially if someone was using the washing machine - I like cold showers, so not a problem for me :)

Everything in this place is great, first the owners, the lady came to pick me up at the port, helped me arrange accommodation for the later part of my trip. She sings beautifully Okinawan songs, moreover!
The facilities are great, lots of place when you want to stay on your own, lots of opportunities to meet other people. I had such a great time there, I so much appreciated the warmth and coziness of the guesthouse when outside the weather was not good.
I could cook my own food, wash my clothes in.the free machine. If I come back to Iriomote, I sure will stay here again.
Nothing!

Actually, we didn't feel the magic of the place like in the reviews. The hostel was okay, but not that comfortable for us. We just had too high expectations because of the great ratings.
The owner was really friendly, she also picked us up at the port. Thank you so much! But at the hotel she felt more stressed and hurried while explaining everything to us. And when we had questions nobody was there. She said we could call, but we don't have the Japanese SIM..
The IH stove in the kitchen didn't work properly so it was quite a hassle to prepare our own meals. And the kitchen felt a little dirty.

For the price it was fine :)

Quiet surroundings, friendly staff and people around the property. Comfortable bed, quiet common areas to relax and read, including a veranda. Running route and hiking trail near the property to observatory towers overlooking the Nakamagawa river.
Bathrooms are rudimentary (but clean). Remember to bring your own towel.

I loved staying here, very calm and authentic. Worth a stay. Staff is great, easy going people, very clean and the area is just lovely
I was alone and didn't have a rental car so I felt kind of stuck as it is in a very remote place. I loved it but depending on your way of traveling could become a minus point to be considered

Very friendly & nice staff. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a place to stay at the Ohara area.

The host was super friendly and welcoming! I was so grateful for the ride from the ferry port, and she also provided some really great tips for exploring Iriomote. The guest house is also super clean, with big communal areas, in a beautiful, scenic location, and provides free bike rental! If I return to Iriomote, I would definitely book again.

This guest house is clean, has a well-furnished kitchen, and has a friendly staff. The location is remote, but perfect for cyclists looking to ride around the island. If you need to ride the bus to the other side of the island, the bus stop is a short walk away.
It is remote and the only store is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

The hosts are most gracious. We were grateful to have a Port Pick-up, and good info about the local restaurants, and things possible places to visit on the isle. We were given a little Shamisen lesson, which was very sweet! The cows chimed in! Together with other guests and the owner, we enjoyed a nice evening BBQ. They also provided bicycles! -- a PLUS! Location was close enough to use our own paddle-boards on the nearby river. They arranged a rental car. And the place itself was spacious, w/ convenient kitchen and common area. Over all handy and memorable! Thank you so much!
There was nothing we didn't like. Except unfortunately there was some wind and rain. But C'est la vie! ;)
