About this cottage rental
Castleway cottage is a charming historic 1100 square foot three season cottage, just steps away from the Pamet River which opens up into Cape Cod Bay, one mile south of Corn Hill Beach. Built in the 1890's as an artist's colony, Castleway is one of 8 Sladeville cottages (built by Mr. Slade), which are steps from a private riverfront on the Pamet River. Bring your kayaks, canoes and floats ! Pet friendly. Cottage is simple and charming, with a recently remodeled kitchen, first floor full bath with tub and shower, outdoor shower, three small bedrooms on the first floor and two on the second, along with a half bath. Sleeps 7-8 comfortably and up to 9 if some guests are small children. Newly sanded floors in kitchen & two first floor bedrooms. Living room has been painted and has a working fireplace ! Dining room table can seat 8-10. There is a small TV in the living room and a second one in the upstairs master bedroom. Internet is provided and signal is good, as is a land line for local calls (cell phone service can be spotty). Rustic and old fashioned but clean and very functional. Bedrooms are pretty small but have water views and windows for nice light and ventilation, and beds and linens are new or in good condition. Dressers and closets in all bedrooms (first floor queen bedroom has hooks for hangers but not closet).
Kitchen includes new counters, cabinets and fixtures, newly-sanded floor, and all customary kitchen equipment including microwave, washer & dryer, pots and pans, dishes and plenty of utensils. BRING YOUR OWN BED LINENS AND TOWELS, WE PROVIDE ALL PILLOWS, BLANKETS AND QUILTS. (Linens and towels can be provided for an additional fee if notified in advance). Outdoor shower is heavenly !!
Property also includes outdoor adirondack chairs, a gas grill, a polywood dining table plus 6 polywood chairs and two outdoor umbrellas. Free standing hammock for those lazy naps. 8 beach chairs, foam noodles and floats available for your use. Parking spaces for two cars, and additional guest spot may be available if needed but not guaranteed. Swing set for children and large grassy area in front of the cottages for outdoor play. Leashed dogs permitted for an additional $150 fee per dog. Professionally cleaned before and after each guest. Saturday-Saturday arrival and departure during peak summer weeks. Built-in electric heaters installed in master bedroom, living room and first floor hallway outside full bathroom which can also serve to heat the queen bedroom. All other rooms have portable electric heaters for warmth in the shoulder seasons. Plenty of fans in each room for hot summer days.
Note - Although it may not appear so on the google map, the Pamet River flows right out to Cape Cod Bay, so you can take a kayak or canoe from our cottage, and paddle out to the bay beaches within a few short minutes, as well as stop along the way in Truro harbor, where you can moor or anchor larger boats !
Fantastic family destination. Also great for one couple or family, or as many as three couples, and extended families. Many repeat guests over many decades.
For a change of pace, please check out our one bedroom waterfront cottage in North Truro (#3506195), our 3 bedroom walk-to-water all season cape (#976979) and our charming 4 bedroom house in Woodstock, Vermont (#3809315), which is great in both winter (for skiing as it's near Killington, Pico & Okemo mountains) and summer/fall !

We stayed as a family. The kyacking was amazing . The host was very responsive and the community is quite friendly. Plenty of fans. Unfortunately there was a fair amount of rain and the cottage is a bit small for a group hang out. If you are a close knit group, or smaller group, I would highly recommend. I loved it, but not everyone in my family felt the same.

We had such a wonderful time in this gorgeous spot. The salt marsh / river is so incredibly beautiful. The house is well appointed and had a perfect set up for our 2 and 3 year old with the trundle bed. Easy to access corn hill, we swam, kayaked and explored the marsh. Neighbors were nice too. Thanks Liz!

This was the seventh house we've stayed in on the Cape and it was all of our favorite. The location, view, and grounds are fabulous. The house is comfortable and cozy with wonderful water views, cross ventilation, a great outdoor shower and everything we needed to cook at home. The rooms/beds were comfortable and the house was very clean and didn't have the common musty smell. The owner was very quick to return emails. We enjoyed every aspect of it and would love to stay there again!

This is our second stay at Castleway. All year I anticipated the salty breeze and calming sight of the Pamet and it was as magnificent as I’d remembered. I love the quietude and old Cape essence of this place. I appreciate the thoughtful touches like the well outfitted kitchen and hammock. Already planning our next visit.

Vintage Cape Cod cottage on stunning tidal estuary
We enjoyed a glorious old-school outer Cape week at Castleway. Never tempted to turn on the TV, we paddled the Pamet, read books in the hammock strung beneath the lacy shade of locus trees, washed off salt and sand in the outdoor shower and made local seafood dinners in the well equipped kitchen. The full laundry was a handy and welcome upgrade for a vintage Cape cottage. The neighbors in the adjacent properties were congenial, family oriented and respectful. Bay and ocean beaches are 3 and 6 minutes away. We sought out a vacation spot with direct access to paddling on the Pamet estuary and the Castleway was a dream come true. We left rejuvenated and eager to return next year. Host Liz was so helpful and attentive. Wish we were still there!

As advertised - had a wonderful stay
The property was as advertised. Rustic, small and cozy, in a great location. Small bedrooms that would not sleep nine unless you had a few kids (luckily we only had 5 adults). Kitchen was well equipped. The outdoor shower was fabulous. Location is great close to Welfleet and Provincetown and Truro as well. Working with the host went very well. The 10:00 am check out was a little too early for us. And having to rent bedding and towels was unfortunate for people traveling from across the country. But that was all spelled out in the listing - so wasn't a surprise. We would happily return again.

Comfortable Cape cabin conveniently located in heaven
I can't say enough good things about the Sladeville cabins, and Castleway in particular. The setting on the marsh is spectacular, and the cabins are quaint as all get-up. Castleway in particular features some nice updates -- TV, strong WiFi, an outdoor shower and gas grill, comfortable chairs and sofa, an even picnic table. Thanks Liz and company for sharing this spot with us!

The Real Deal
If you're looking for a truly authentic cottage experience on the Lower Cape, I highly recommend that you consider this property. It's a very sweet place yet has all the conveniences that you expect - wifi, washer/dryer, a tv, etc. I love the tranquility of the setting yet Ptown is only a ten minute drive. Stay here!

Castleway
We love our time at Castleway Cottage on the beautiful Pamet River and are planning to return again soon. Perfect spot for well behaved dogs and the neighbors are, in my experience, respectful of your need for some peace and quiet and so that really helps to make it a lovely experience for observing the gorgeous nature surrounding you.

Great stay for a group of adults!
My group of 7 adults + dog had a great stay at the cottage! We were worried about space, but found the cottage to be more spacious than the pictures imply, particularly the kitchen. The interior has a ton of Cape charm and was comfortable to spend time in. The rest of the property is definitely the highlight. The cottage shares a large grassy area with several other cottages, but we did not feel cramped at all. There is a ton of seating right outside the cottage, and there is also access to the river for walking or kayaking. We especially loved using the grill, playing frisbee, and spending time in the front yard. The water view from all bedrooms and common areas was beautiful.

A place of peace
Lovely property with the best location of anywhere I've ever stayed on Cape. Gorgeous sunsets and peaceful mornings listening to the bay awaken. In our opinion for an authentic old timey stay in beautiful Truro this is the place to be. If you're a kayaker it's your dream location, and if you like to walk the trails along the bay, they take you all the way to Corn Hill. We didn't want for a thing other than warmer weather, but I'm spoiled after staying here!!! Rent it, and enjoy.

Great location!
The property has a great location and you can get anywhere quickly. Our favorite beach was right around the corner in Truro called head of the meadow! It was great to have a place to come back to that was comfortable. The outdoor shower is an absolute plus for this property !

Wonderful for 7-8 people
We loved the house, and everything about the property. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that it did not sleep nine people. We made do, and otherwise enjoyed our stay. It will sleep 7, or eight if a smaller pair can share a “full” aka double bed. The house is very old, and the bedrooms are filled with the biggest beds available. I repeat . We loved our stay!

Comfortable and Well-Equipped Summer Cottage with Great Location
Our family of 6 had great stay here. Loved the large yard, the nearby tidal marsh, and friendly neighbors. The living room was very comfortable. The kitchen, while compact, had everything we needed to prepare several meals. Generally a well maintained house, thoughtfully furnished, with easy interactions with the owner. One possible area of improvement, while our bed was comfortable, my son reported the twin bed upstairs twin was less so.

Very pleasant get away cottage
We had a wonderful time in your cottage. We all enjoyed canoe and kayak. We did nice walks and children loved to pick up dead crabs. The outside shower is very convenient.
We were pleasantly surprised kitchen equipments, a wide choice of crockery and utensils that made french meal preparation easier 😉

perfect cape cottage
Castleway is the quintessential cape cottage. Great location, just enough off the beaten path to feel like you've found a hidden gem, and a quick easy drive or bike ride to P'town. Beautiful kayaking and launch from the "front yard" and access to the national seashore dunes and beaches less than 2 miles from home. Cozy yet spacious enough to accommodate a family and equipped with everything you need. Thank you for 3 spectacular September days. We will be back!

Lovely, very comfortable and well equipped cottage with access to the Pamet River -
Terrific house, but note its rear faces a road. Not a problem but be aware of it with kids and pets

Charming and peaceful spot
We have been staying at Castleway/Sladeville for about 5 years now, and can't say enough good things about it. We stayed here with our 3 children and another family with 2 children. Castleway was a great fit because it is roomy, comfortable and charming. The outdoor space - including the swings, the big open space, and all the crabs and creatures down at the Pamet River at low tide - was perfect for kids. The updates the new owners have made are wonderful because they add convenience without taking away the traditional beach cottage feel. The washer/dryer and outdoor shower were particularly helpful additions after a long day at the beach. The owners are incredibly helpful and eager to make sure renters have a great stay, and the cottage is close to Corn Hill and other great spots.

Wonderful water location
This is a spectacular location on the Pamet plus the house can fit a large family. Although this is an old cottage (no designer look) it has charm and most modern conveniences and a warm airy clean feel. It is not moldy which is a huge deal as one who has decades of rental experience on the outer Cape can attest. The owners make every effort to provide what you need and you feel well taken care of. The kayaking on the Pamet is just wonderful and there is a long beautiful trail to walk all the way to the harbor. I highly recommend this house if you love being right on the water.

Very clean and comfortable!
We loved that the property had a beautiful view of the river. We took kayaks out in the morning and had a wonderful paddle down the Pamet River. The cottage itself was nicely decorated with a view from the dining room overlooking the river on the top of a hill. Very peaceful with lots of privacy.

Charming Cape cottage with modern updates
This cottage is cozy and colorful and so pleasant to spend time in. We lounged on the back lawn looking out to the salt marshes of the Pamet River. Kayaks are available to use through the salt marshes and out to Truro Harbor and Cape Cod Bay- just pay attention to the tides. It was fun to bike to nearby beaches. We really enjoyed our stay.
