Overall we enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It is clearly a place that has been in the family for years and is filled with fun things to explore like old books (like old recipe books fro 50's, old kids books) & cool old toys. It is old, but overall felt pretty clean. There was a good amount of space, which I appreciated with 2 kids; a moderate main room w the dining table and then a separate family room with a couch, as well as a nice big screened in back porch. There's a master bedroom and very small bedroom on 1st floor, then 2 kind of separate areas in a loft area. So all the sound and light from the 1st floor is heard/seen from up there, which isn't the best for little kids. There are plenty of beds, and a Pack N play available. The kitchen is small, but adequate, as long as you're the only one cooking in there :) Plenty of silverware, cooking utensils, cutting boards and pans, etc. The bathroom is very small, but has a small bathtub, which is nice for kids.
So, no fault of the owner, but the mosquitos were INSANE out of control, worst I've ever seen. You can see them swarming when you drive up. We literally had to grab the kids and run to the car, throw them in, drive out the driveway then stop to buckle them and we still all got bitten tons and had some in the car! Because of this, we obviously could not use the outdoor areas of the house, which was one of the reasons we chose this house, thinking it'd be great for the kids to run around and enjoy seeing the boats across the street. If you went at a non mosquito infested time they have a play set, pretty big yard and the marina across the driveway. The back of the house is a marsh area, we did get to see some birds through the windows. Though this definitely put a damper on our stay, the house was a short drive to many things in York., which was nice.
We went to Harbor Beach, about a 5 minute drive, multiple times. IMO this is not really walkable. You can park on Rt 1 & walk down the hill to the beach. The Cliff Walk is beautiful and begins at this beach as well. The Wiggly Bridge is a 2 minute drive (we could've walked, but, mosquitos...).
There is internet, but it can be slow and was a little hard to connect to, but once connected it was fine. There is no cable, only a Smart TV that you must sign into with your own accounts. The host always did respond to messages, but not always as quickly as I'd hoped/have experienced with other hosts. Had to ask for check in info.

A precious place, had everything a family needed and close to all the beaches between York and Kittery Point, and York Amusement parks, and all the historic sights in York, Kittery Point, Kittery and Portsmouth NH. Really looking forward to re-booking next summer!

We stayed at the cottage for the weekend. The grandkids ran around outside, there is a jungle gym, a tree house, and tetherball. The cottage is definitely retro/rustic, a place where you didn't have to worry about the kids touching things, plenty of toys to keep them busy. We had a fire and had a great time sitting around the fireplace. Everyone said they wanted to go back.

Great cottage. Brought back childhood memories of staying at a rustic cabin near the beach equipped with crafts, games, beach reading books and old national geographics! Great place for family with kids! We were here for a wedding didn't have time to enjoy cottage for what it's set up for. Only bad thing was no heat in cottage except for fireplace and a space heater in each room. Not enough to heat whole house had to have fireplace going -clothes smelled like campfire-not a great thing for wedding clothes! It was cold!! Nice property!

This property is exactly as advertised. Simple. Rustic. Beautiful. Perfect location. No frills but you’re in Maine. Get outside. We had a great time and had enough space for everyone.

Great spot for observing herons, egrets, hawks, and other birds in the marshland. Tree fort and trails for the kiddos. One old bathroom for the 4 bedrooms was a bit of a bummer, but didn’t stop us from having a great weekend!

It was a great location, across from a great restaurant and lots of walking trails. However, not so clean....two huge tubs of old recyclables left on the front porch from prior guests and no key? So we could not lock the house when we were out.

Rustic ambiance delighted grandkids and we had fun cousin time.
We checked in after dark and after previous days of 30 degree temp days the house was freezing down to its bones. Wish we had known only heat was 4 space heaters. We went to bed with clothes and jackets in. It took 12 hours to warm up and thankfully morning room temp cozy. Owners were contacted and agreed end of season after a cold spell, someone needs to set up space heaters well ahead of guests. We went on to have lots of fun. Kids initially ran all over discovering cool secret places and things like a craft and coloring box. Kids loved the climbing swing set and riding their bikes up the dead end road. They took over the tv room as their own room. We discovered roku on the tv and watched a great kid movie. We would definitely come back during warmer weather. Owners were very responsive to our questions and heat issues.

Cute Home by the Harbor
Great location! Close to Wiggly Bridge with a restaurant across the street. Short ride to downtown Portsmouth. Privately set home with large yard. Would love to go back in the summertime to be able to spend more time outside! Nice living area and table to gather around.
Thank you for the enjoyable stay!

Great, quick getaway spot that is close to everything!!!
Our family had a great stay at this cottage. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and have the privacy that they needed, but also be together. It is in close proximity to everything that you will need and want to do and is literally a few minutes away from the best beaches.
While the cabin is rustic, it truly met all of our needs as a family and the owners were super attentive to anything we needed and thought ahead for anything we may need for our stay.

We really enjoyed our family stay at the Rustic York Harbor cottage.
The Marina and Dockside Cafe/bar across the road were great for afternoon cocktails. Our grandchildren loved the swing set; the walk to the Wiggly Bridge and park beyond; getting to see the eagles and their fledgling and just watching the boats coming and going. The beach was just a short drive from the cottage. We spent time each day on both of the screened porches and watching the great blue herons in the marsh preserve. There was plenty of room for the 5 adults and 2 children to spread out. It worked out well attending a family wedding in Portsmouth, NH and extending our weekend to enjoy York.
Thank you Tina and Steve Ozaroff,
