It was useful to have the Brown Cow pub next door as the cottage as it offers food especially as the cottage is quite isolated.
Situated on the main road makes it easy to travel about. The cottage is cosy and warm and offers most requirements for your stay.
It's not fair to say we didn't like anything, however a few things could be addressed. There could be a more precise information sheet although there were phone numbers to make contact if there was an issue. There was nowhere to empty the rubbish once the kitchen bin was full. Possibly thicker curtains in the back bedroom to block out the early morning sun. The decor was a bit tired although it is toward the end of the season.
A list of local facilities would have been useful too e.g shops and when they were open.
All that being said, we had a lovely week in a comfortable cottage with off road parking.
A most enjoyable week.

Nothing special

If you don’t want to see anyone or be in a bigger town, it’s perfect.
The deco could be refreshed as you do feel you are stuck in the past a bit but not a big deal.
Closed parking was great.
Comfy beds.
Enough plates and cutlery.
Being next door to the pub was amazing.
All the cleaning stuff available.
Not far from the beach.
Old deco.
Not so clean. Clean enough though.
Noise from the road as unfortunately during our stay the tarmac was being done overnight so very poor sleep for most of the stay as you could hear all the machinery outside.
Broken door from the boiler- what makes me think property wasn’t checked after the previous guests and it was cleaned only by the guests.

First impressions lasted, all as expected, comfy, clean, cosy & warm. Would definitely stay again if we ever return to the Lake District.
Just a practical suggestion re the location; might be an idea to correct Google maps as it took us to another property a few hundred yards down the road.

Comfy beds, pub next door. Food was excellent if you did not was to cook daily. Close to all areas of interest.
The main road, although it had a off road parking area that was enclosed.

The location, the communication and the house was perfect home from home.
Not enough cutlery but there was only 3 of us so we managed. Everything else was exceptional

house was OK, beds comfy tv and wifi good
black smoke emitting from boiler flue, going into bedroom window, texted but no response.
Boiler door falling off if you went near it, cooker and hob controls so worn, unable to use hob.

Great location, handy being next door to the pub, clean and comfortable accommodation.
Fair bit of road noise, bedroom curtains didn't block out much light in the morning.
Kitchen tap was very loose.

The cottage was lovely all we needed
Pub was wonderful (go hungry )lol 😂
Bar staff are lovely
Unfortunately the noise of the traffic sorry
3.5
The place was clean and spacious with big rooms and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Beds were comfortable and it's very convenient having the pub next door (which does excellent food!)
Some of the equipment was old and could do with replacement. None of the knives in the kitchen were sharp and there was no washing up brush which made cooking quite difficult.
The bedrooms are quite noisy as the room is right next to a main road with traffic waking you up from as early as 4am (even with a white noise machine on).

Really nice and cosy, comfortable bed traffic noise didnt bother us.could have done with milk to greet us as no shops.
Garden wasnt private dogs could get out of gate.

Main bedroom was the only room that was nice but mattress too soft and bouncy.
Kitchen needs revamping and only a few pots and pans.
You can sleep in the main bedroom (front room) with windows open as when cars passes it’s very noisy.

Positives:
The cottage is lovely, lovely central location, comfy, and warm (in December we had the heating turned off!) Shower is good and powerful and hot.
Nice courtyard and parking is good, with gates, so I felt secure leaving my car.
Furnishings are comfy, 2 WCs so no queue for the loo!
Oven, microwave, freezer and fridge, plus utensils (bring a can opener if you need to open a can though! We had to borrow one from the pub next door lol)
Washing machine, iron and ironing board provided, but no hairdryer! It's ok, I'm happy to look like a shocked witch, but bring one if you need sleek.
Lovely views.
Easy to get to shops within 20 mins (seascale) and the whole area nearby has something to do and see.
Wifi
Peaceful location with stunning views.
35 mins to wasdale, 40 mins to scafell, 40 mins to Bouth..perfect location.
I love, love, loved our stay and will definitely come back again and again, starting with spring 2021!.
We went in December 2020
Negatives:
It's very loud at night, on a main road, so the front bedroom is impossible to sleep in with the window open (that's a personal thing, I always have windows open for sleeping, so you may not notice with them closed) so we ended up sleeping in the back smaller bedroom. (Quiet with windows open)
The oven was not the cleanest inside and kept setting the smoke alarm off when we cooked baked potatoes inside and opened the oven door.
There was no where to put our rubbish, so I had to bag it up and leave it in the porch area, outside bins or a communication as to where to put our recycling and rubbish would be good.
You think you have sky but you don't, it may be better to just have freeview telly?

The whole house was great well equipped spacious and clean what more can you say perfect break for us
Nothing to report really, small amount of road noise during rush hour morning and evening shower head needs replacing it has a leek at the side of it but nothing £10 and 2 minutes wouldn't cure ,other than that its great place
