We had a short visit but very relaxing- house was perfect for our needs. Great location, clean, good communication with host. Will definitely rebook!

Our family had a fantastic time staying here. Other than some dirty dishes and issues with the electric golf cart, we enjoyed all of our time. The property owner was very quick to respond to inquiries and the property was in good condition relative to the price to stay there. Access to the Safety Harbor Club ameneties provide a much calmer experience with far fewer people compared to the Island Club pool, and you can always head to Mangos for a drink or bite to eat. The property itself is within easy walking distance to the beach and nature trail. The house is also setup perfectly for a family of four. We used Island Girl Charters and Fresh Pick food delivery service, with zero issues.

Highly recommended. Lovely beach home just a few steps from one of the best beaches in Southwest Florida. Guest services were spot on, and the host is instantly available for any questions. North Captiva is a magical and beautiful place. If you have a chance to come to Southwest Florida don’t miss this great home and glorious location.

Perfect Island getaway. Loved everything about the island.

This was exactly what we needed! The house provided us a place to lay our heads until we could get back out to the real attraction, the beach. It had been many years since I had last been to the island and the hurricane did impact nearly every property, except this one! The house was clean and comfortable and allowed us to cook dinner each night. We would have enjoyed a dinner out but there are currently no dinner restaurants open on the island. Or breakfast for that matter. Not the host’s fault obviously. Make sure to bring all you need (or order groceries ahead of time) and you will be ok. We managed ok but would have been nice to have that information updated on Google. But if your goal is to relax in place a less than two min walk from the beach, on a modest budget, then this place hits the mark.

We so enjoyed our stay at Winterhaven…. Very comfortable, sparkling clean, well equipped and fantastic location. We had excellent communication with Allen (the home owner), who was flexible and very helpful. Sherman (the property manager) was prompt, friendly and immediately available as needed. Debbie (Fresh Pick Grocery Service) is the best. Location just a short walk from the best beach on the island. Love the gentle sound of surf. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this home for a laid back visit to paradise.

Hurricane Ian damaged much of North Captiva Island and many of the beach houses. This house survived with no apparent damage, has everything you need for a wonderful week and is only three lots from one of the prettiest beaches in the USA.

Nice beach house in a great location
4.0 / 5.0
As always, North Captiva is a wonderful destination for those seeking an entirely relaxing vacation without any agendas. The island is still recovering from the September hurricane such that there is a fair amount of debris and damaged homes, but the ideal weather and surrounding nature make up for these transient negative aspects. The home is well apportioned and within walking distance to the beach. The only negative feature is that the extra sofa bed is located in the master bedroom, which provides scant privacy for those using the master bed. (There is a sliding wall but the sofa bed is bigger than the sliding wall’s circumference. ) Would return as a party of four, rather than five, as we did. Overall, recommended.

Awesome location
We enjoyed our time on North Captiva Island. The location is perfect—a very short walk to a nice beach. The house isn’t fancy but certainly adequate and comfortable. We had everything we needed. Allen was responsive and helpful with getting everything set up for transportation to the island. Sherman picked us and our luggage up and brought us back the day of departure. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time there.

Needs some investing
Pros: Island is beautiful, quiet, and full of wildlife for sure! Slow pace and relaxing get away. House is clean. All basic necessities are available at the house.
Cons: The house is well equipped with everything needed, but most things of very poor quality, ragged, falling apart, rusted, and need upgrading. Just felt like there had been no investments in the property in a long time. Kitchen supplies, beach supplies, bath towels, bedding, “upgraded” golf cart, etc. All in need of TLC.

Great family destination
The property met expectations for a budget friendly beach vacation at an exclusive island destination. We really enjoyed our time on the island and the property's location is excellent. Logistics for a destination like this can be daunting, but communication with Allen was excellent. The property management helped us arrive and depart as planned. Everyone was very friendly. Thank you!

Easiest 5-Stars I ever handed out.
Easiest 5-Stars I ever handed out. Our week didn't begin all that well due to flight delays and missing our water taxi. However, because of the taxi's familiarity with the island process, he was able to help us with a later water taxi to North Captiva. The owner recommended this taxi service, and I'm so thankful he did.
We also had an unfortunate breakdown of our golf cart. But, the manager (Sherman) handling our rental, was unbeleiveable. He was right on it and had us a replacement cart almost immediately. Sherman is the BEST!
The house was as beautiful as advertised and the island life was spectacular. A very short two-minute walk to the beach.
I had so many questions leading up to our trip, and the owner (Allen) always responded immediately to my inquiries... truly impressive.

Close to beach and affordable.
We arrived a bit later than expected and Sherman was a gem and got us settled in.
The house is very close to the beach and the golf cart was a nice addition to the house. A must for the island. Watching the birds and wildlife from the deck was wonderful.

Laid Back Vacation
There are many good things about this property. Although the exterior is looking in need of some upkeep, the interior has had a face lift sometime in the last decade. It was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed to feel comfortable and relaxed. It is only a few minutes from the beach, where we spent a lot of time. The beach on this part of the island is very deep and we could walk a long ways. It’s also great for shelling. Others before us have written of problems with the golf cart. We also experienced some kind of apparent electrical problem on the last two days. It’s pretty ancient and probably needs to be replaced. We were also challenged by the grills. They are charcoal, not gas, and although we were prepared with supplies we needed, their small size made it very difficult to prepare the meals for our family size. They are also old and one leg had rusted off. However, our vacation goal was to truly relax, and we certainly were able to do that. We particularly enjoyed the large upper deck and the comfortable living room. Long walks, sunrises and sunsets on the beach, and the club pool were fantastic!

Perfect location
The house didn’t look as fancy on the outside as some of the other houses, but the inside felt like home! It was clean and roomy, yet felt cozy. It had everything we needed. It was close walk or golf cart ride to the beach. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back!

Enjoyed our stay!
We loved North Captiva! Allan and Sherman were great at answering all our questions, and I had plenty having never been here before. Upon arrival to the island, Sherman was waiting for us with a trailer for our luggage and groceries. Our golf cart's brakes were not very good, but Sherman got that taken care of the next day. The house was everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully supplied with plenty of pots/pans/dishes. We enjoyed sitting on the decks, if you are on the lower level screened deck you can spot many lizards sneaking around and a gopher tortoise if you get lucky. On the top level we watched for birds and enjoyed the island breeze. You can't see the ocean from the house, due to the trees in the way, but it is not far away. I was worried about all the steps getting to the island, but everything went perfectly. This home is modest compared to some on the island, but it is comfortable, clean, and budget friendly. I have read about issues with other home's property management on the island, but we did not have any issues like that here. Sherman was awesome! The island is absolutely beautiful! We hope to come back soon!

Quiet getaway
Comfortable, clean, safe, private, had everything we needed and then some. Allen was very responsive and everything occurred exactly as planned. We did have a 19 month old with us. They provided a baby gate and a pack and play. For toddlers, need to watch around the railings. It was a great family getaway and we will definitely be back!

Golf carts and the beach!
What more could you want. We loved moving about in the carts and the gulf water was walk in warm. The house was nice and owner responsive. A very nice tropical stay.

Escaped to a Simpler Way of Life!
The house was beautiful and the amenities were plentiful. With 8 children and 16 grandchildren my wife and I rarely have time to ourselves. The peace and quiet of a life without cars and the beach a short walk or a very short cart ride meant we could come and go as we pleased. It didn't bother us that we could not see the ocean, its presence was always around us. The homeowner has provided filtered water at the kitchen sink and in the ice maker which was a nice touch for anyone who isn't used to Florida's "tasty" well water. The wildlife is awesome and plentiful if you keep your eyes open. I took many beautiful pictures of the wildlife and the magnificent sunsets! We'll be back and it probably will be before next summer! Thank you Allen for letting us share your house.

Island paradise
We had an awesome family vacation. Sherman was waiting for us with golf cart and trailer when we arrived and promptly picked us up again at the end of our stay. He was a phone call away if we needed. The house was perfect for my husband and I and our two middle school age kids.

North Captiva was a perfect place for a Covid holiday
The property is nice and consistent with it’s description. The master bed is great, the location is excellent. and the cart worked well.

Gteat little place
Lots of little extras in the house that lots of folks wouldn't think to bring. Only improvement I would reccomend would be a little work on the showers. Water pressure a bit low and hot water required a sweet spot to get hot.

Wonderful Location
We had an excellent stay. The house was exactly as advertised. Nothing fancy, but a great spot for my family to enjoy. The location to the beach and pool were perfect. We hiked the island every morning and made great meals. We will definitely be back for another family reconnecting and recharging vacation.

very well located , safe, very nice island retreat
The house is as advertised, nothing fancy, but in good working conditions, near the beach.
Could use some updating, but worth for the money.
Check in was under the rain but lightning fast. The manual was of help though
Driving cart was fine. , basic one.
Great place for a week vacation

Great older smaller home
Really is a nice place. A little small for our family of 5. It is an older house. Communication with the owner was great, he was very nice and helpful. BUT the owner needs to replace the golf cart.. It's very old and felt unreliable and we had issues with it running at times. It was not fun after few days driving the cart because it was very uncomfortable because of the shocks. It's an old crappy cart. Owner needs to buy a new one.

We appreciated the house, gokf cart, grill with charcoal, deck, and ability to do laundry. It was so handy to have beach chairs and beach umbrella available for use. Thank you to Sherman for quickly responding to and resolving the only real issue that arose during our stay. We hope to return to NCI, what a special place!

North Captiva in March
The property was in a great location on the island.... beautiful beaches, sunsets, sunrises. The house and amenities were well worn but worked for us and the owner and property manager were very responsive and helpful. The golf cart needs some new shocks but got us around the island with only a few spilled drinks. It was such a wonderful place to vacation and we shelled to our hearts content..

Captivating stay in north Captiva
Great property with double screen door to second story porch - we loved looking out at that blue sky and hearing the wind in the palms and crash of the surf! Everything at our fingertips for relaxing - enjoyed pool and tennis courts we had to ourselves. Loved the great service at all the local eateries- casual atmosphere and shorts and flip flops welcome.

What a paradise getaway!
So close to the main beach on the island, about 5 minutes if walking, less than 1 minute with golf cart. Relatively private. Good WiFi signal. Very clean inside the house. No problem with Golf cart at all. Well stocked kitchen and bath room. Plenty of beach chairs, towels, beach umbrella, sand toys. TV has limited channels but we spent most of time outside the house. We used swimming pool and tennis court at the club house almost everyday. Check in/check out process was smooth with Sherman's help. We saw dolphins, manatees, turtles, star fish, hermit crabs, live conch close to beach. Went to three different beaches on the island. All beautiful. We bought our own grocery from COSTCO since we are not familiar with Publix. A lot of mosquitoes at dawn/dusk especially in the woods. The bug spray we brought didn't work so we bought a local brand called "No No-See-Um™" which works so much better. Overall we all enjoyed the stay and are already thinking when we'll be back.:)
