The setting is quiet and peaceful.......
the ocean washing along the shore will certainly lull you to sleep and will be the first sound you hear in the morning when you wake. Start your days walking on the rocky shore enjoying the vast views of Pigeon Hill Bay including local lobster fishermen hauling their traps just feet from the cottage. The Petit Manan Lighthouse can be seen in the distance and the fog horn can be heard. In the evening enjoy the fire pit located on the edge of the shore. This is Maine, The Way Life Should Be.....
The cottage offers a main bedroom with a queen bed. The loft accessed by spiral stairs, has four twin beds. The loft also has a window air conditioner for your comfort.
Just minutes from the cottage enjoy a short hike to the top of Pigeon Hill. Once you crest the top, you can see for miles. A perfect spot for a picnic and great photo opportunities! If you prefer bird watching or happening upon a deer or rabbit, a great hike along the Hollinsworth Trail on Petit Manan Point is in order. While there, visit All Souls Chapel.
Services are led by local residents and held on Sundays. (Seasonal)
Save a few hours to enjoy a boat ride to Petit Manan Lighthouse located two miles off shore. Daily boat tours leave from Back Shore Road (Acadia Puffin Tours) which is a 5 minute drive from the cottage.
Bring your kayaks, canoes, paddle boards etc. The bay is a great place to explore. It is tidal which means the tide will go in and out, changing every six hours.
Take a day trip to explore one of the nation's most beloved parks, Acadia National Park, (approximately 1 hour drive).
Acadia at Schoodic Peninsula is a shorter drive, approximately 40 minutes. Both offer hiking trails through the forest or rocky shorelines. Bar Harbor hosts many restaurants and shops; a great place to spend the day.

Quiet side of life on the Maine Coast did not disappoint!
Plenty of local trails and sites to take in. Beautiful views over morning coffee or evening beverages! Property manager offered many great recommendations and was helpful for any needs. Strongly recommend if you are looking to get away from the tourist crowds, yet still close to explore Acadia and many of the other coastal trails and popular attractions.

Absolutely loved the cottage and the amazing scenery.
Couldn’t have asked for a more amazing home base.
Host was quick to respond and had the place clean for us from the get go.
We loved the privacy and will be back !

We absolutely loved this little cottage. It is situated near the water and in a quiet area with wonderful views! Host did an amazing job of keeping in touch with us and gave us lots of great information about the area as we were first-time visitors to Maine.

My sons and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this little cottage by the sea. We appreciated the private and quiet beachfront setting and the many amenities that the cottage offered. The air-conditioned loft area was the perfect spot for the boys. The cottage was clean and well-maintained. Wanda was a very responsive and helpful host. We were happy to be within an hour of the Bar Harbor/Acadia area and took several day trips to the park, including Schoodic Point. Having a grocery store and good take-out spots only a few minutes away was an added bonus. We were surprised with the wildlife we saw from the cottage: a bald eagle, deer, a rabbit, and “Spike” the porcupine. The puffin cruise 5 minutes down the road was great too. We hope to return soon!

We had a wonderful time on pigeon road! The house was perfectly appointed and clean and just right for our family of five. It’s right on the water on a cute country lane. Everything about the spot was beautiful and fun.
But be prepared to drive an hour to Bar Harbor and the main sites in Acadia. This really is in the middle of “nowhere.” It’s pretty and just right if that’s what you’re after! There are some closer hikes, but we spent most of our time in Acadia/Bar Harbor since we’d never been before and it was a bit of a haul.
Wanda is really wonderful. Very communicative, friendly, helpful — and had the house spotless for us upon arrival.
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!

This cottage was very clean and well stocked. It's a simple but roomy cottage with spectacular views and relaxing atmosphere. It's close to Acadia and Bar Harbor yet away from the hustle and bustle. Our kids loved exploring the beach in the mornings at low tide and I enjoyed my morning coffee with the quiet lapping of the waves. The stargazing here is overwhelmingly spectacular

The property fronts a the bay. Berms on either side provide a sense of distance from the neighbors. Located 5 miles off the main road, its is quiet and pleasant, yet it is less than 15 miles from a village with a restaurant and multiple take-out options. A marvelous getaway!

We have now stayed in Pigeon Hill 3 times in homes managed by Wanda. Every experience has been excellent. The area is so quiet and peaceful. This is the second time for our family of 6 at this cottage, and it works out perfectly for us--the loft is great for the kids (as long as they are careful on the stairs!) And the beach is right out the door. Such a wonderful spot, a perfect cottage for us. Thanks!

Wanda’s cottage offers a true Maine experience from the quiet as you stare over the sparkling water to the excitement of the evening wildlife and seashore fire pit. So much to see in Maine and we had a great home base in Steuben. We enjoyed every detail of our perfect getaway. Thank you Wanda!

Enjoyed our time at this cottage. A little far from the main Acadia sites but great for peace and quiet and schoodic was just as fun. Would love to come again.

Blessed to be on the bay
Wow! Have you ever shown up to a home and felt your sense of awe just overwhelm you? This is the place! The evening we arrived my entire family (including 2 teens) bolted out of the car and ran to the bay and permagrins on every one of our faces! Simple, quaint, picturesque, off the grid....... exactly what you appreciate our of a peaceful vacation!
We loved it! Loved it ALL! We feel so incredibly blessed to have had this opportunity to stay on the bay in this adorable cottage! It was super clean, cute and had everything we needed!
From the initial questions in the booking process through check in and check out we had the greatest VRBO hosts you could imagine! Wanda.....how do you describe her other than the "Siri of Steuben"! She was a wealth of knowledge....like having your own personal travel consultant!
We loved our time here, thank you so much for the opportunity to see Maine for the first time in an authentic experience!
We are so grateful! The Guernsey Family (Michigan)

The cottage was exceptionally clean, and communication with the owner was simple with a quick response every time. The coast was such a fun, unique experience! There's a big different between high and low tide, with lots of exploring to be done. .2 miles up the road, the hike up Pigeon Hill Trail was the highlight of our stay, with breathtaking views of the bay, islands, ocean, and trees in bright fall colors. We really enjoyed our stay!

Perfect Maine Getaway
Our family of four wanted to get away from the Maryland heat in early July while still keeping our distance from people. This cottage was perfect in many ways. It was the perfect setting, right on a bay with great views of the water and lobster boats. We also spent every evening walking the cobblestone beach looking for sea glass and shells.
While the cottage was an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia, which were both packed, we had many great opportunities for hiking by ourselves on the three local trails on the peninsula (Pigeon Hill, Hollingsworth, and Birch) that were a lot of fun. We also drove to various other state parks and trails like Roque Bluff, Reversing Falls, Tidal Falls, and Quoddy Head, all of which were perfect for us. We did spend a few days driving through Acadia but highly recommend going early to catch the sunrise at Thunder Hole. We then hit all of the main attractions in the park by 7am and were out of the park when the traffic started picking up. The Schoodic Peninsula was also a big favorite of ours too.
The cottage was the perfect size for us. We had plenty of room to space out if we needed to but also had great spaces to hang out as a family and play games or put puzzles together. The porch with rockers was great for watching the bay and drinking coffee/tea. The kitchen was well stocked for all of the meals we prepared, including a steam pot for the lobsters, mussels, and clams we had a few times. We had a great time watching the local wildlife to be include many types of birds, and a porcupine that frequented the yard to eat the clovers or something along those lines. The kids also enjoyed seeing the Milky Way for the first time ever (thanks to the lack of light pollution) and actually seeing what high/low tide means.
Wanda was absolutely wonderful and very responsive to any questions we had before and during the trip. Her recommendations for local seafood markets and take out food was always spot on. We would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone and consider going back each summer. Thanks for a wonderful time in Down East Maine!

Quiet remote location
This was our first trip to Maine and it was more than we expected! The cottage was in a perfect location between Bar Harbor and Lubec Maine, which is the Easternmost Point of the US. We don’t mind driving so the hour and a half drive to each didn’t bother us.
It was very clean, had everything we needed, and our 3 young kids enjoyed having sleeping upstairs! The bay and boats were beautiful to see every morning and night. Wanda was also informative and helpful during our stay. We will definitely be back!

Relaxation at its best
My wife and i enjoyed our stay ! It was our first time to maine! I work 72 hours a week so it was nice to have a place to go to and relax and unwind. Wanda is the best! She communicated with us and checked to see how we were doing. She gave us great tips on where to eat and see the waves at high tide. We loved staying at the cottage. Everything you need is right there. It was so peaceful and quiet. The stars there r amazing. We enjoyed having a fire and sitting in the chairs looking out at the ocean. We enjoyed watching the people bringing their lobster traps up. The leaves had just started changing while we were there and they were beautiful . We had a wonderful time at near by Acadia national park and there is also a great trail right down from the cottage to go on. We plan to go back there again and many of our friends want to book this cottage in the near future for their vacations . Wanda you are so kind and we thank you so much for letting us stay at your wonderful cottage! You do a great job with it! We hope to talk to you again in the near future when we come back and stay!!! Thank you so much!!!

Perfect Relaxing Experience
Our experience could not have been better, from the moment we booked the property until we had to say goodbye.
The house is well stocked lacking nothing, is at an incredible location, immaculately clean and extremely comfortable.
The location was perfect to utilize adjacent hiking trails, a quick drive to Millbridge for some of the best Mexican food ever at Vasquez Mexican Takeout and any shopping needed.
At night we enjoyed the wonderful waterside firepit where we heard the lapping waves and watched the stars appear one by one. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Thank you Wanda you were a dream to communicate with, although nothing was needed, we knew you were there should be have. It was hard to leave for both adults and children. We will return!

This property was perfect! The house was immaculate and well appointed. Everything you need for a wonderful stay, the location is right on the water with quiet, friendly neighbors.
Perfect for browsing the beach for shells, or having a campfire in the yard. The back porch/ room is perfect for sitting in the mornings with your coffee watching the lobster fishermen bring in their pots. The property manager is wonderful! She was happy to answer questions and make recommendations for places to visit/eat, and anything you need she is happy to oblige (very quick to answer texts). If we were return to Maine, I would definitely rent this house again!

Gorgeous views and immaculate charming cottage
Wanda was extremely communicative and helpful before and during our stay. The location was amazing with mesmerizing views! A mile down the road was Hollingsworth Trail.. fabulous! Winter Harbor had a cute yummy diner. Chipmans In Milbridge was the real lobsterman experience where we brought home cooked seafood. 44degrees North was a great lobster lunch. The shop across the street has cute souvenirs. Machias was a beautiful drive. Lunch at Helens was super. Also drove from there to Jasper Beach and Rogue Bluff. Schoodic Point is definitely worth the drive too. I’d stay there again in a minute!
