Lake was absolutely worth the trip. Even had kayaks and canoes.
I give this place a lower rating just because the house was not up to par. It was dirty, had a weird smell, and there was mold. Housekeeping can do better

My husband and I had a really good time! Our cabin was set back a bit so it was very quiet and peaceful. John was super nice ! And generous with his lake toys. Great place to reconnect. Would love to visit again!

The Good:
The location is beautiful. You have a great view of the lake and mountains from the cabin. We loved having the firepit just outside our cabin as well. The owners were very friendly. The shower stall is very small, but has nice hot water with good pressure. Bring your own toiletries.
The Not-So-Good:
The cabin had a very funky smell. We ran a diffuser throughout our stay to try to mask it, but it didn't really help much. The kitchen area and fridge in particular smelled pretty bad. We saw a mouse a few times during our weekend so we kept all our food well sealed and in cabinets as much as possible. The beds are very very uncomfortable. One of them was so bad that my teenage son chose to sleep on the couch instead. It basically feels like springs wrapped in fabric.
Bring your own sponge and dish soap. There were some used sponges when we arrived, but we went out to get our own as well as some more dish soap. The kitchen doesn't have much if you plan on cooking. The owners said we could walk over to ask to borrow anything we needed. We borrowed a couple of things which they were very nice about, but I would have preferred to just bring my own. There isn't even a decent set of knives or scissors to use.
There were plenty of towels, but once wet they all smelled of mildew.
We really enjoyed our stay, but just be aware that it is a no frills place. Bring air freshener. No tv here, bring your own.

The cottage was cute and definitely all that we needed for our time being! Weather is about 10 degrees cooler than you think due to elevation. It was great to have the paddle boats and kayaks be included! Definitely recommend

Great views and super clean water. Owners were helpful and very nice. Kids didn't even care about no devices/TV. Thanks John and Charlotte!

Great little cottage!
I love this place! Super clean, beautiful view. The owners are helpful and very nice people. My only suggestions are that the lighting get updated to make it more cozy and make reading in bed possible and it could really use a new shower.

Great Stay with The Family
Had a great vacation week. Use of water equipment was a plus. A little beach space would of been nice instead of roadside. Cabin was as described, and clean. Would revisit.

Rustic get away
Overall, the listing was exactly as stated. Rustic yet clean. Only issue was ants in kitchen and bathroom. We couldn’t leave any food out at any time because it would be loaded with ants. (Ie:?bag of pretzels, donuts in a box, etc) Owner is aware because there are ant traps around. If there weren’t ants—It would have been perfect. Overall-4 stars.

Will definitely rent again
The host were very accommodating and friendly. If you were in need of anything or had questions they were only a walk away. Very nice property with everything you needed for your stay. Most of the days I spent hiking at local summits. It was nice in the evenings to just sit on the docks and have great conversations with the host. I will definitely be booking again.

Not what we expected based on VRBO pictures
The lake is amazing and the owner was kind. He offers unlimited access to kayaks and paddle boats, which is wonderful. The cottage is in ROUGH shape. The house is very dated (floor is slanted, wasp nests above the front door, a peculiar odor is pervasive, and not all windows open), and we didn’t feel appreciated how many folks shared this property. There are a total of three rental units on this property, in addition to the owners house. We look forward to revisiting Stinson Lake, but we will not return to this cottage.

Great place
The house was great and the views were beautiful. Quite area, nice and secluded but close enough to the main road if you need something!

Nice couple and nice location
John and his wife are very nice from start. Not only they allowed us to use their peddle boat, they also brought us on their motorized boat for a ride on the lake. My kids enjoyed the boat and camp fire in the yard, and played with their dog. We also got to take home of some of their plants!

Enjoyed the lake
We spend a nice weekend in the Stinson Lake area. The owner was there to meet us when we arrive. He was nice and also offered to give us a tour on his boat which was awesome! Kayaks and canoe were great to enjoy the lake as well. Small cabin but the kitchen is well equipped and sofas are confortables.
Thing to know before booking that house is that there is a road between the house and the lake - not suitable if you have kids running around. Also as mentioned online some people are sharing the same yard as there is another renting house. We were not bothering by them as they didn't use the yard at all.
The yard could be better maintained and the bathroom would need some upgrades. Pictures of inside the house are pretty accurate (less light though)- there is also a dining table in the kitchen/living room which is great.

Enjoyed our weekend.
Pros: Hosts were very friendly and very accommodating to us. Boats are available and the lake is beautiful. Surrounded by mountains, it is breathtaking. Easy to find. Cabin is rustic, but other than the fact that there is a table and chair in the main room, making it smaller than it seems in the pictures, it is just like they stated.
Cons:
Hosts have only had property for less than 2 years and are in process of making thing better. Mattresses and pillows on beds could definitely be replaced. Some cleanring up around the property and this will be a gorgeous place.

The property was old and tired
The pictures shown on the website do not reflect the run down, messy look of the actual property. We were told upon arrival that the heat did not work but that it would not matter,on Thursday night it was only 50 degrees we could have used some heat. There was no hot water until the owner fixed it then it was only lukewarm. The smoke detector was not working because it was shoved under the sink with no battery, not a good idea when there is only one way out of the cottage. I would not recomend that any one rent this place.
