I requested a 30 minute early check-in which was denied due to "ongoing" issues from storm damages earlier in the week. The apartment was full of insects and cobwebs, cleaning supplies nearly empty (but you were going to be charged $100 for not cleaning when you checked out) the bedding was filthy, and the primary AC unit in the kitchen was not working properly.

This cottage is located across the street from the lake with the path to the beach barely a block away. The screened porch was a wonderful place for our family to enjoy our evenings. Our stay was incredibly enjoyable!

We had a great stay here. The beach location is just a short walk down the street ( like maybe half a block) in either direction. The cottage was well stocked and the screened in porch was such a great space to hang out. We would totally stay here again. The host was very easy to get a hold as well.

This was a perfect spot for quick few days at the beach. Convenient to our favorite Berrien Beach and local restaurants.

Great location, close to beach access, walking to restaurant and stores, awesome screened in porch, pretty private spaces outside on side and back. Comfortable place!

This unit was perfectly located to access most of what southwest Michigan has to offer: Going a little bit north or a little bit south. Especially Berrien county. Had the weather been nicer, the screened in porch would’ve been perfect. It was clean, comfortable and most important to me -a couple of blocks walk to the beach!

Location was just as described! Close to beach access. We loved the screened in porch. The beds were comfy. We had a great weekend!

Listing accurately described beach access as 150 feet on either side of house. Listing does not mention that the house is a three unit apartment basically, but only our apartment was booked during our stay, so that was nice. Unit has been updated, the charcoal grill was super nice. We had some issues with the bathroom fixtures, but it was handled quickly, with fast response, and no other major issues. So happy with the location and all the other close little towns. The host had a couple rolls of toilet paper, hand soap, a few quart baggies, and a couple of trash bags. There was a lot of sand in the unit upon arrival, but I didn’t mind because we were so close to the beach!

We really enjoyed staying here. We could walk to the beach anytime we wanted. We loved being on Lakeshore drive and seeing the people go jogging and bicycling by. If you have dogs, definitely request the end unit with the screened in porch. It was a nice space to hang out on anytime of day. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed every minute.

The best thing about this property is it’s location and screened in porch. It’s a short walk to the beach, the Whistle Stop, downtown Union Pier. It’s quiet. The one thing I didn’t realize when I booked is that it’s attached to 2 other cottages. I didn’t hear any other guests which was nice.

Generally good and location great. The devil was in the details. We had someone powerwashing the awning and building - loud. We had the exterminators come to deal with raccoons. Missing batteries in remote. No pepper in shaker, bought our own. It was a short getaway to be removed from the daily chores but we felt like everyone kept apologizing. I get it, but if it's booked, leave us out of the maintenance and cleanup problems.

Air conditioning consists of one window unit in the kitchen window. Bedroom light/fans turn on & off at 3am. Hot tub out back broken & moldy. Dogs welcome, but NOT at the beach! She failed to share this info when asked.

Perfect location, perfect layout and updates on cottage. Heat worked real well. Would return to Union Harbor but id only stay here if I did

Great size for the 2 of us and our 2 dogs. Renovation was nice but needs some artwork or mirrors to cozy it up a bit... Also it could use a little attention to the outside side yard steps (had to step in puddles when it rained) and screened porch. Not allowed to use the fireplace even though advertised with wood burning fireplace. No outdoor firepit either. A couple dirty pots and pans did not help with our appetites- chose to go out. But...we still had a nice time. The area is great and so close to the public section of the beach.

Really just what we were looking for in a family get-away.

This property is a single level triplex. We stayed in end Unit 3, a two bedroom with ample parking and very easy access to the beach with two access points to either side of the property. The property has great curb appeal. Unit had a open layout ideal for socializing with mix of new and obviously used (some stained) furnishings. A screened porch is off to the side and a great option for breakfast to listen to the birds and watch the joggers pass by. The walls, doors/windows, kitchen and bathroom looked newly renovated and we’ll done. The biggest issue with the property was that upon check-in it was neat, but not well cleaned and the host had used a considerable amount of synthetic air / fabric freshener on the furniture and maybe the beds as well, unless it was fabric softener that was used. I had brought covers for the furniture on account of my pets. When I took them off before check out the smell again began to permeate the unit. Very strong! I also swapped my coverlets for the house comforters and found blood on one of theirs, grease on the decorative bed pillows. The box springs were disintegrating. I found the beds to be lumpy and uncomfortable. I swept often on account of the animals and to pick up any stray sand but kept sweeping up black animal hair (not from my pets). Air conditioning is a window unit in the kitchen that kept the humidity at bay. Hot tub, accessible through a bedroom was not functional, though it was too hot to use anyway. This rental has a lot of potential. With better cleaning, and upkeep, it could be a real gem. Despite all that, I was super thankful the host allowed my cat and dog to stay. I love SW Michigan! The beach was a dream…

Well appointed, very clean and comfortable. Excellent location. We look forward to return visits!

Location is wonderful. Unit was super clean and had everything we needed. The only thing I’d mention in the listing as the property manager would be that the property is essentially a (wonderfully) revamped motel type property. We read the whole thing about private yard and porch as the rental being a private property so having two other units attached directly is a little misleading.
Otherwise a great stay!

This place was great! Super close to the beach and within walking distance to cafes and a restaurant. They are building the area up too. Looks like more restaurants to come. One thing I did not realize is that this property is actually 3 different connected units in a row. We stayed in the smallest, but the perk was that it had a large screened in porch that the other units didn’t offer. The area is heavily wooded so the screen came in handy for sitting out in the morning and evening. Our unit (3) was also newly renovated. You can hear through the walls pretty well, so if you have a noisy neighbor like we did on our last night you can definitely hear them. Great place for a couple or small family!

We really enjoyed our long weekend here. The beach is a short walk away. We were able to find great pizza, Chinese take out, and a coffee/bagel place nearby. We were able to cook, grill on the charcoal grill, make coffee etc in the kitchen.
The screened in porch was great for hanging out on our one rainy day.
The dunes were a short drive away so we were able to get several hiked.
The front window mentioned in a previous review does now have blinds.

Great location among upscale vacation properties. A short walk to a local beach and short drive to Warren Dunes. Newly renovated with a few kinks to still be worked out.

Great stay across the street from the lake/beach. Location is pretty basic and has just about everything you could need. Loved the kitchen!! Only complaint would be lack of blinds or curtains on the big door facing the road and the lights in the bedroom randomly flipped on multiple times during the night.

Location was great. Quiet area, nice side yard, friendly neighbors. Screened porch was nice. Small home. There were a few spiders in the bedrooms. Floor and bathtub weren’t as clean as I would have expected. Upgraded appliances with everything in working order. Not much natural light as there are few windows. This is an attached unit which I don’t recall being specifically mentioned. At least it was on the end. Listing included fireplace but we were told that wasn’t an option for insurance purposes. That is totally understandable but it shouldn’t be listed as an amenity if that is the case. Otherwise decent place to stay.

Great proximity to the beach for the price, We enjoyed the screened porch and side yard, (although screens need some work) and spent a lot of time outside. Beds and linens were comfy, unit was recently updated but there were some minor maintenance items that should be addressed. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect for a long weekend getaway. Small unit but screened in porch was nice. Nicely updated kitchen. Something to wash/dry a dish or glass would have been nice since there weren’t many dishes & we had to run dishwasher after every meal. Easily walkable to 2 beaches. Wasn’t aware it was an attached unit but really wasn’t an issue. Very quiet.

Nessa is so helpful and accommodating. She sent us to a great restaurant in Three Oaks for pizza
and promptly replaced our microwave. Highly recommend staying here.

We had a great time at the cottage. The enclosed porch was awesome to just sit in and hang out and eat breakfast and drink coffee. It was the perfect size for us and the beach was a block away. We would definitely stay there again!

This property is perfectly located between two public beaches on Lake Michigan. A quick 4 minute walk to either beach. It’s great swimming as there are sand bars 15 to 20 yards out - which makes it fun for throwing a frisbee in the lake. The place is also just a ten minute walk to Gelato store and Union Pier Market. It’s a ten minute drive to great restaurants in New Buffalo. Finally, it’s only a 10 minute drive to Warren Dunes — a great state park with a towering sand dune. The property is very clean. We had a nice side porch and bbq grill. We were able to plug our computer into the tv with the hdmi cable there - so we kept up with our streaming shows. Finally, the sunsets were so lovely, it was nightly “must see” tv. We took our chairs down nightly to watch. The unit is not big or over decorated. It’s just a simple, comfortable, and clean place to get away to.

Owner was responsive and polite. Cottage was clean and comfortable. Nicely updated. Just a 3 minute walk to beach. Beds were comfortable.. Convenient screen-in patio and nice yard for our kids to play in.

A clean place a stones throw from the beach. Owner let us check in early which was really nice and communication was great.
It’s a bit bare bones-could use some little extra touches. Hooks, soap, and a small garbage can in the bathroom would be nice, a small hose to wash off sand outside so you’re not dragging it in everywhere, etc. Otherwise, a clean and nice spot.

Great location. Very short walk to beach access. It's very close to the road but is not at all noisy. Unit #3 has a wonderful side porch.

The property at the time of my visit was described as "directly across the street from the sugar sand beach." Please note that there is no lake view from the property, and it is approximately a five minute walk down the street to the beach. The owner claimed the property description described the length of the walk the beach; however, that is not the case.
The property was also listed as newly remodeled. Unfortunately, the remodeling had not yet been completed when we visited, and the property seemed less than ready for summer guests. There were holes in the screen porch, bed headboards on the porch, the back of the cabinets facing into the living room were just covered in plywood, etc. When I contacted the property manager about my concerns (including the lack of dish towels and holes in the bath towels) new towels were delivered, but I did not hear anything else from her. A few days later the owner did stop by to discuss my concerns. While I realize it would be inappropriate to finish a remodel with guests in the cottage, I wasn't convinced that everything would be completed for future guests. We were told that the ceiling fans that were taking up space in boxes in the bedroom closet were not for this property. That is unfortunate since the rooms were hot at night and some of the windows would not open. The owner's response to a bathroom cabinet with a detached countertop sitting by the front door was that guests had requested a table by the door. This only added to the cottage's unfinished look.
I will definitely return to Union Pier; however, I will not stay at a property from this owner or managed by this company.

Property owners were very accessible. Nice area, clean place and close to beach!

The location was great! The cottage itself was clean and comfortable. Although the closets and porches were cluttered with big items. The kitchen was missing dish cloths and paper towels. The bedrooms need a luggage rack and the bathroom could use a shelf and hooks. The wi fi and cable went out on the second day and never came back on. It needs a radio to hear the weather or news since Cable was out for 3 days . It could use some games. Overall, it wasn’t quite ready for guests.
