About this villa rental
Sea Turtle is located on Brighton Beach, at the south end of the Platinum Coast of Barbados, with direct access to the sand, and with uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea.
Built in the 1960's this spacious 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom bungalow is set in a quarter of an acre of mature gardens and underwent a full refurbishment in November 2011 (including new soft and hard furnishings throughout). A 500 sq ft sun deck and a pool were added in November 2012. Situated in a quiet residential neighbourhood two miles north of the city center the house feels very private and is ideal for groups or families wanting a private hassle free beach experience or for intimate 'honeymooning' couples. The beach is over 1.2 miles long and it is the largest turtle hatchery on the island. Turtles are often seen laying eggs, hatching and swimming in the surrounding waters. Green monkeys visit the property and the garden is full of humming birds. Being set back over 100 yards from the main road, Sea Turtle does not experience the road noise suffered by most West Coast villas and as Brighton Beach is a mainly residential beach it is almost deserted for most of the day/week.
The Master and second bedrooms are both 'en-suite'. The Master has a 'California King-size' bed and the second and third rooms can be configured as either 'Large Double', 'Twin' or three singles. The house is child friendly and there is a baby cot/crib available if required.
In addition to kitchen, laundry and lobby, the living area comprises of an internal 18' x 28' lounge with giant TV, an external 30' x 12' covered dining area with seating for 8, and 15' x 30' canopied wooden sundeck with loungers and barbecue, leading onto a 30' x 15' sundeck with outdoor pool. There is also a porch to the roadside with seating, where you can catch the early morning sun.
There is a daily maid/laundress to wash-up, do laundry, and to clean and service the rooms.
The house is a five minute drive south of the best restaurants on the island, 600m from a large modern supermarket, right on the beach and walking distance from Kensington Oval Cricket Ground.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sea Turtle. House is located right on the beach with turquoise water and white sandy beach. Backyard is a gem. We enjoyed the small pool as well specially the kids in the group. Ralph and Julieann were very helpful throughout the trip. It was so convenient to have groceries in the fridge/kitchen for our first day breakfast. Theressa, the housekeeper was amazing. She made sure the house was clean and helped with our laundry too. For future stays, we would suggest to update the mattresses in the rooms and also update the plumbing in the bathrooms since there was stagnant water in the showers. Overall our group had a great time! Thank you for making our Barbados trip memorable .

we stayed at sea turtle 18Nov-02 Dec, there were 6 in our party. The house was well maintained, the staff was great they would come and clean every other day, the manager was easily accesable. The location on the beach is fantastic. Getting goceries ect. was easy with only a 10 min. walk. The only complaint was you are not on a bus route and have to walk up to the mall, which is where the grocery store is located which was only a minor inconvience, we would and probably will return to this property

At 1st we were concerned with the all the different locks on the beach gates, the deck and the front door. Too many different lock combinations. The house can use some updates, the beds mattresses were very thin and not comfortable. The bedrooms were nice and cool but walk out from there and the heat hits you like a ton of bricks. Very hard to cook in a kitchen that is 90 degrees before you even start. The photos online look like they were taken back 20 years or so. The housekeeper and Ralphie the were excellent in their communication. The amenities show air conditioned but it should state only in the bedrooms!!!!

Now and then we cross paths with lovely people who transform a space from a place to stay into a place to enjoy. Theresa, the housekeeper for Sea Turtle, is an artist at her work, to be sure, but is a splendid human being with a whole heart. We are lucky to have met her.

We did not want to leave after our week here! The outside area in the back that leads to the beach can't be beat. With the seating, pool , lounge chairs , deck and beach we spent most of our time out there. It was also very private, with trees on each side of the property. The AC is only in the 3 bedrooms and works very well. Fans and cross breezes are used for the rest of the house. It can get very hot inside , especially in the kitchen when cooking. Teresa, the housekeeper, was great. She came a few times during the week and we felt quite pampered. Communication with the property manager was easy and he always responded in a timely manner. We would go back anytime and recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful time in Barbados. Chris and Ralphie were terrific. This was a wonderful beach. We swam and snorkeled every day. The snoring was not great but I did see some colorful fish and an eel so it was fun. Most of the furniture was very comfortable with the exception of the beds. The master was good but the other two were not great . I would definitely return to this property.

Finding a sea fronted property with a pool in Barbados is not easy. Sea Turtle did not disappoint. The house is spacious with the covered outdoor seating area was invaluable. Plenty of extras and an excellent welcome pack with the back up of local staff to help us.

The patio furniture need to be clean, the cushion was dirty and some unstitched. Also one of the sofa in the leaving room was broken. The refrigerator was not working well and the sink in the kitchen was leaking. Some windows did not have screen and somme do not open. Also in the bathroom the towels was damaged. Before renting I asked if they did some renovation because many years ago I rented the same house and at that time the house did need some renovation, They told me, yes that they renovated it a year ago but was not true, we were very disappointed. I do not recommended unless they renovate.

The location of the house is outstanding - on Brighton beach which is very quiet, only frequented by a small number of locals. This was a surprise to us given how beautiful the beach is. Having the small pool as well as being on the beach was a huge advantage to us with a 5 year old and 2 year old. The pool was perfect for cooling off in the heat, and the covered deck provided space for shade when this was needed.
The bedrooms are all large with air conditioning. We didn’t feel that the lounge area required aircon as the breeze through the house was pleasant. The kitchen did get a bit hot but that was a very small issue considering the huge advantages to this house.
There is lots of parking. The house is close to Bridgetown but also provides easy access to the resorts on the west coast.
When we arrived the fridge was well stocked with drinks, milk, beer and some basics such as eggs and bread. We were very grateful for this after a long flight.

VRBO dropped the ball, collected our money but made no contact with the owners about our reservation. Contact info is years out of date. Luckily the prop. mgr. happened to drive by and see us standing there looking bewildered, and luckily they hadn’t rented it out already! But nothing bad at all to say about the house or managers themselves, they were both awesome!!!

Right on the beach
The villa is ideally located, in a beautiful setting. The outside patio is an amazing place to sip a coffee in the morning or relax at the end of the day. Having the beach and the sea right outside the backyard was just amazing! Even if it is a public beach, it is very quiet.
It was very nice to have Michelle and Jerry around as well.
We felt secure. The villa is super clean and, although it could use a little update, especially the kitchen, we felt very comfortable there.
It is close to the city. Barbados is a wonderful place, the people we met were all very nice and the weather was perfect.
Some negative points: the neighbor's dog barking is a little excessive sometimes and can get on your nerves. And during our stay, the buzzing kites were plenty and sometimes stayed flying over our heads all day and night. We were told that this problem is known and worked on by the authorities so it might soon be resolved.
Still, overall, our stay was one of our all time favorites, we had a great family holiday, everybody absolutely loved it and we would not hesitate to go back.

Our only concern was that the house is locked at night using number combination padlocks which just made us feel slightly uneasy if there were a fire and we needed to exit the property.

I understood that I had rented a house with air conditioned everywhere ...( I see it has been modified in Home Away). I would have NEVER rented it otherwise.
The pictures on Home Away and the reality are different: the pictures were taken a while ago...
There were windows with NO mosquito screens or broken ones so EVERYTHING (monkeys, insects, cats etc..) could come in!
The burglar bars (doors and windows) made us feel in a cage.

Let you imagine how HOT the room was...
At night we fought mosquitoes in our room … In the morning we woke up bitten...

I knew it was I the price but I was not expecting any rebate, just to respect our need for intimacy. Well, Monday she woke us up at 11ham in order to finish her work.... I was very angry! On vacations, it is our prerogative to sleep if we want.
Good thing? The beach is STUNNING!!!!! but the house is way too expensive go somewhere ELSE!

New year in Barbados
This is our second visit to Barbados but our first to Brighton beach. The beach is stunning and the property is fabulous. We were looked after so well, not only pre-holiday, where our NYE party tickets were picked up for us, but throughout the holiday. Susan was always at the end of the phone to answer any queries and was really helpful. We were really well looked after! Thank you guys!
The only negative which did spoil our trip slightly were the dogs next door who woke us up barking every morning around 6.30am and barked a lot! This was a real shame as it wasn’t quite the relaxing break we’d envisaged.
Otherwise it would have been the perfect holiday and despite the lack of sleep, we’ve had an amazing time.

House was a little dated and could use renovating but the atmosphere off set that and actually not much time spent in the house except to sleep. Nice house on quiet beach
House precisely as described. Perfect organisation of security and housekeeping. Never used beach as much as this time, go for a swim or snorkeling maybe 10 times a day, truly a beach family vacation. Humming birds, geckos and even monkeys couple of times around the house gives nice tropical scenery. What to improve - Wifi signal on the decking area , it is too weak outside, need update, no one wants to sit inside while sharing nice pictures on instagram :) Regarding nearby restaurants, Cin Cin By The Sea is horrible, awoid, fish and chips in London is better than that, wasted £1400 for New Year dinner. But even bad restaurant experience couldn't spoil this holiday, we are happy: weather, beach, sand, sea, house, security, car rental, food shopping all perfect, one of the best holidays. Feel money well spent. Thank you.

Location is the best!
Our family stayed at Sea Turtle and enjoyed a beautiful family time!
The housekeeper , Michelle, was an added bonus. The owner also employs a house manager, Susan. I did not have a positive experience with her, nothing terrible, just not positive.
Being a high end property, we think the owners could make some improvements, a new refrigerator is tops on our list. They did replace the coffee maker very promptly when asked.
The home is well situated, very safe and secure.

As close to perfection as you can get
Beachhouses are all about the beach and this one is quite perfect and you have the beach almost for yourself, just steps from the house. Two sets of deckchairs, one for the beach and one for the terrace, umbrellas for the beach, a big cooler if you can't make it back to the fridge, a state of the art BBQ - its all there. Michelle took good care of all the work in the house - we had a fantastic vacation. The pool looks much bigger in the pictures than it really is - its more like a big bathtub but with a beach like this you don't really need a pool for swimming.

Great Place
We loved the house, the beach, gardens and pool. We stayed 8 nights and felt safe and at home. The outdoor covered dining and lounging area was our favorite place to relax and enjoy the wonderful weather. The owner's guide book was so helpful and we enjoyed many daily excursions to all parts of the island. The location of the Sea Turtle home was an ideal base for activities (snorkeling, catamaran cruise, Mount Gay tour, cave tour...) and going out to eat at wonderful restaurant dinners.

THE Best Location in Barbados!!
What an amazing family vacation in Barbados! The Sea Turtle on Brighton Beach is as good or better than all the reviews I read prior to staying here! We are a family of 5 with 3 younger children and we could not have been more comfortable, safe, or relaxed than we were at the Sea Turtle :)
What more could a family or anyone want?? We had the entire Bay to ourselves every day with only a few locals and no one hassling us for beach chairs/umbrellas, jet skis, tube rides, turtle boats, etc etc. Beautiful coral with plentiful fish to see just off your own personal beach and my daughters LOVED finding all the sea glass!
Any activity you would want to do is covered in the "handbook" and we did ALOT of them! Probably our best family vacation EVER and when we come back to Barbados we will definitely want to stay at the Sea Turtle!!!

I like to be brutally honest in my reviews as I think this is most helpful! Our booking experience was sublime - Andy is a dream and real pleasure to chat to!!!!! We arrived to be met by the House Manager with a fridge of hospitality and pre-ordered food and drinks and a cooked fresh chicken on the stove. On first walking into the house it was not quite as "plush" as we had expected and so initial 1st impressions were not great.......BUT.......OMG..... This villa is SO comfortable and has everything needed for a relaxing break. Maureen - the Housekeeper cannot do enough for you and keeps the house immaculate!!!! The Owners Manual, otherwise known as "the bible" is spot on and we followed many recommendations. All in all ...... Highly recommend!!!!!!

Our stay at Sea Turtle was great! The house was clean, neat and the layout was great. The beach was fantastic! Susan, Maureen and Chris were all very helpful and nice. Car recommended. If you need a taxi...Vernon King is the one! (his cards are at the house) We all had a great time , and plenty of room at the Sea Turtle in Barbados!!

Great Property
We loved the Sea Turtle. Brighton Beach is a wonderful location, and we felt safe there at Sea Turtle. Shondell (the house keeper) was wonderful and did a very good job, and we also appreciated her and the company's flexibility with allowing us some privacy throughout our honeymoon. It's so nice to feel comfortable enough to feel "at home" while travelling, and the privacy was a big part of that.
The property seemed to be in good shape, and we loved the colors and the turtle theme throughout the house. We did use the grill once, and that is a great addition, I think. Really, the home fit just what we waned: a place to relax, have privacy, cook our own meals, nice bedroom, etc. Oh yes, the "handbook" or whatever we call it (as I can't remember what was written on the front of it) was really helpful, also.
