About this cottage rental
Located in the traditional maritime town of Wells-next-the-Sea, 200-year old Albert's Cottage was originally home to one of the Norfolk fisherman who established this popular coastal settlement. Superbly located a mere 100 meters from Wells quay, and retaining much of its charm and early features, this hideaway has been thoughtfully curated to embody a true Norfolk seaside experience.
Achingly romantic, Albert's Cottage has starred as the backdrop to three marriage proposals in the last five years. Featuring beams and an inglenook fireplace, this hideaway presents a wealth of character throughout. Located close to bustling Staithe Street, and Wells quay, there are numerous cafe's, fabulous restaurants, colourful boutiques, independent shops and local art galleries to discover. Wells is famed for its expansive sandy beach which is home to a charming row of vibrantly painted wooden beach huts set in front of an fragrant mature pine forest.
The ground floor comprises of a magnificent open-plan living environment with original oak beams. The seating area provides ample comfortable seating appointed around a wood burning stove set into a brick inglenook fireplace. Nestle in after a day spent in the big outdoors and enjoy the warmth of this space as ambient light from the flames flickers around the room. A well-equipped kitchen area hosts modern appliances and ample worktop space for rustling up a delicious meal made from the area's famous local produce. Seating for four guests is available around a traditional circular table. Perfect for gathering together over breakfast to plan the day ahead, or for sharing food, wine and conversation long into the evening. With a selection of books and board games available, this area makes an excellent shared social space for guests to enjoy.
Ascend the Norfolk winder staircase to the first floor where two exceptionally beautifully-appointed bedrooms are located. Boasting a south facing aspect, the master bedroom benefits from being well lit by natural light, and hosts a double bed with rooftop views. Bedroom two also provides a double bed. Both bedrooms have been decorated in a muted colour palette, with beds dressed in good quality linens and sumptuous soft furnishings to ensure that guests experience a much-needed restorative deep sleep. These bedrooms are served by a good-sized shower room.
Outside, a delightfully quaint courtyard garden features rattan furniture surrounded by green shrubs in terracotta pots. An accompanying barbecue beckons guests to dine al fresco on summer evenings. On-street parking is available, with a public car park located nearby.
Albert's Cottage has proved very popular with Norfolk Hideaways guests over the years. Maintained to a high standard and thoughtfully prepared to welcome guests, the owner's love for this cottage is evident. Awesome stay - highly recommended
Fantastic stay at this very quaint cottage, it’s so pretty and has everything you need. Great size for a family or two couples. Beds were so comfortable. The location is more than perfect. Amenities around the location are fabulous for shops/ restaurants/ beach /pubs.
The only thing I would have requested was that the house had a full length mirror and that’s not too much of a grumble about as everything else was PERFECT!
Fantastic stay, highly recommended.

We have been coming here for a number of years and have booked again. Such a quirky, comfortable and convenient cottage in the centre of Wells NTS.

Couldn't ask for better
We are in our later seventies and without a car. Albert's Cottage was three minutes walk from the bus stop, the shops, , money access, The Granary Arts Centre, the Quay, access to the little train to the beach and was thus perfect. There is a prominent warning in the details about the tricky stairs but we managed them all right. The cottage has very comfortable and is cosy and wvery easy to warm up and the hostess could not have done more to prepare a clean and welcoming cottage. We are already booked in for two weeks next year.

Great little spot
The location of Albert's Cottage was ideal for our week in Wells. So close to shops, restaurants, the sea and the bus stop. We were able to see much of the North Norfolk area as well as spend enjoyable time locally. On a very rainy day, it has a wonderfully cozy sitting room to read the papers and watch TV, with a cup of tea and a delicious brownie from the bakery (15 seconds away!). The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful. Everything felt clean and welcoming. Really enjoyed our time here.

Perfect central location to Wells
The cottage we chose was perfectly situated in the centre of Wells and very cosy. The small outside space caught the sun for most of the day and we spent a fair bit of time out there too when not out visiting. Our host left some delicious brownies for us which were very welcome.
We would recommend the visitors centre at Cley and Holkham Hall (choose a day when the house is open).
Only suggestion would be a new mattress in the second bedroom (probably usually used for children rather than adults).
Overall a great stay

Felt very comfy!
In this heat an umbrella against the sun (garden entrance) would have been nice! The neighbours living fulltime there are very kind!

Perfect Cottage
This is our second stay at Alberts Cottage. Perfect location in lovely Wells. Although the cottage is in the middle of the town, it is quietly tucked away. A perfect spot for visiting the North Norfolk coast, particularly Brancaster, Blakeney and Holkham. The cottage is small but cosy and very well equipped. It is very clean and the beds are very comfortable. The small back patio is south facing and a great sun trap. We will be back!

The cottage was well set out with everything required available.
Our stay was very pleasant and the cottage was close by to everything that we needed. It was also very well equipped with all amenities close by for example pubs, restuarants and shops.
The cottage itself was a little small for us but would recommend it to other people as it was comfortable, well situated and well equipped.

Alberts cottage
It was our fifth holiday in Alberts Cottage as it is in a brilliant location however the steep stairs and small bathroom are becoming more difficult as we get older so it will probably be our last visit.

Right in the heart of things
Albert’s Cottage is a small but perfectly formed cottage right in the heart of Wells. It is a stone’s throw from Staithe Street and a couple of minutes from the harbour. The cottage is small but perfectly formed and there is ample kitchen equipment should you wish to cook. The welcome tea tray and milk in the fridge was a nice touch. It was ideal for 2 people but though it has two double bedrooms it would be very cramped for 2 couples. There is no dedicated parking for the property which could be an issue after Easter and through the summer if you like having your car handy. The stairs are very steep so may not be suitable for soneone with mobility problems. We would stay there again.

Charming cottage
Albert’s Cottage is ideally located in Wells-Next-The-Sea, just a few steps from Staithe Street with its independent shops where everyday needs can be catered for with high quality food shops. The cottage is charming, and probably the best-equipped accommodation we have ever visited. Wells is, as ever, a delightful place to visit.

Convenient and cozy
We have stayed at "Albert's" a number of times and keep coming back. Each time we find the owners have made improvements and changes, some small others more extensive, and all of which have added to our enjoyment of the cottage. The rooms are quite small, but that is no problem for us, we love the convenience of a central location, so near to shops, pubs and restaurants and the sea front. "Albert's" provides everything you need for an enjoyable and comfortable holiday self catering.

Christmas in Norfolk
An alternative Christmas with one of my grown-up sons was spent at Albert's Cottage in Wells-next-the-Sea. The cottage is sweet, clean and an effort has been made to make it welcoming and comfortable - but it is very small. It was good being close to the shopping street in Wells and we loved the friendly and extremely well-stocked greengrocers and the fishmonger being so close though we were less than impressed with the Deli - an attitude issue from the person serving rather than what they sold. The Grey Seal coffee house was great too in fact almost everyone we had dealings with was friendly and polite. What a good time we had in Norfolk! The beaches and landscapes are fabulous and we even saw seals on Christmas Day. And though most of the places one could visit were closed for the holidays the good weather for the majority of our stay enabled us to be outside a lot. We'll definitely be returning.
