Beautiful Log Treehouse: We bought this cabin in the summer of 2009 and feel so fortunate to be able to share it with guests and friends and family. All three of our kids (now grown) love coming here to kayak, fish, golf, bird watch, relax and explore with their families. Our cabin is nestled high up in Pecan, Sycamore, Mimosa and Redbud trees. The view from the upper deck is fantastic. Great for bird watching. We hear the owls at night and watch red tailed hawks make nests and raise their babies. We have left the chicken coop standing as some day we hope to retire here and raise a small flock. You can't beat this for a perfect vacation spot whether you're wanting adventure or relaxation.
Most Historic Town in Texas: Bastrop is known as the 'most historic small town in Texas'. Historic Main Street has lots of interesting shops great for hunting antiques, great restaurants, live music in the evenings and a good old down home environment. There are an abundance of parks, several excellent golf courses, places to rent bikes and kayaks, live theater at the Bastrop Opera House and incredible historic homes. We're only 40 minutes from Austin and 30 minutes from the Austin Bergstrom Airport

Great, relaxing stay. Conveniently located and cozy.

We loved our time at this sweet cabin!! Even though it rained while there, we enjoyed time on the beautiful deck, watching the river. We were 5 minutes from Bastrop and enjoyed hiking in Bastrop State Park and eating downtown. The cabin had all of the supplies that we needed and more. I would definitely recommend this cabin and we will be back!!

It was wonderful sitting on the balcony overlooking the River. Very peaceful, quiet neighborhood.
The decor inside the cabin was very nice & extremely clean...well stocked kitchen, both a coffeepot & Keurig, plus a kettle to make hot tea..all the utensils.
Bring your own music, as there is no TV, which made it more relaxing to just listen to our own music.
Plenty of blankets & pillows, comfortable king bed. Very quiet & location is wirhin 10 minutes of town & restaurants.
Highly recommend.

This cabin was an absolute delight to stay at, Steve and Linda put a lot of thought and care into this property and it shows. The cabin is well stocked, and completely beautiful. The rustic vibes, paired with the warm, homey comfort of the beds, couches and indoor hammock! The view from the cabin is impeccable, the river is right there and the song of nocturnal creatures is a real treat.
Also, there's ping pong! This a a great place to escape to if you're looking to unplug and reconnect with nature. It is also a short drive from downtown Bastrop, which is quite an up and coming little town. I highly recommend Kana Wine Bar.
Not as much as I recommend this cabin though, it was my absolute dream vacation spot and I am so grateful to Steve and Linda for sharing this oasis with the world.

Absolutely loved the property and cabin! Stayed for the weekend with my kids. The patio area was spacious overlooking the perfect view of the Colorado river right outside the front door. The rustic decor and furnishings where a nice touch. There where so many trinkets, games and things to look at around the cabin that it became a type of treasure hunt for my kids discovering new things. All supplies you would need are there and well stocked. Went fishing off the dock, enjoyed a night around the fire pit roasting marshmallows and hot dogs... overall we had a great relaxing stay. Instructions where easy to follow, didn't have any issues, would stay here again.

Wonderful property - very peaceful! Great view of the river, beautiful sunrises. We had a great time - comfy King bed & living room, great kitchen with an awesome stove and great shower. Really nice touches like bedside charging plugs and wall mounted hair dryer in the bathroom. Loved the proximity to downtown Bastrop and the 2 farmer’s markets. Steve and Linda are great hosts! They were very, very helpful and responsive regarding any questions we had. Highly recommend!

Loved our stay at this peaceful VRBO. We relaxed on the covered balcony a lot: listening to birds, watching the squirrels, reading books, sipping our drinks and enjoying the river view. King bed and living room furniture were comfy and the shower was spacious. We used the stairs by the dock to access the river for an evening swim. The river current surprised me because one must steadily swim just to stay near the dock and the water-depth was over my head; not a problem for me as I am a strong swimmer. I really liked the ground-level porch swing! A lot of stairs for anyone who has bad knees (me), but worth the effort. Good communication with owner. Great kitchen for cooking. For dinner out try Cedar’s (Italian) or PawPaw’s (excellent fried catfish and shrimp). We hope to return as it was so relaxing!

Overall the experience was enjoyable. Only suggestion would be to kill the poison ivy on the stairs.

Incredibly amazing!
Our stay was amazing!
The road to the cabin was mentioned as being rough. So, on that note, it’s not smooth but it’s not horrible. Definitely nothing to base your stay off of. We watched UPS and Amazon vans navigate it perfectly fine.
The location is peaceful and relaxing for sure. The cabin is immaculate and has everything you need. It is off the beaten path yet close to everything. We kayaked, tubed, played horseshoes, and enjoyed ping pong for hours! My husband caught a couple catfish but the water was high for much fishing.
Communication with Linda and Steve was perfect. They were attentive and responded quickly when we were booking. I definitely recommend staying here.

Birthday getaway
The pictures do not do this place justice, it’s gorgeous! Hosts were very responsive.
We took our own tubes and floated from the property to fisherman’s park. The water felt great. Weather was great, water was great, view was great, house was awesome! We loved that there was no tv! We played games, painted, fished, pingponged 🤗, and enjoys our time together:
Only negative have nothing to do with the rental, the road leading up to the house is really rough so drive slowly.

Cabin on Colorado River
This was a beautiful property, very relaxing. The only issues we had was the way the front door locked which there is no way to lock it from the inside, the French doors don't really close well or lock well. This caused an uneasy concern as well as not being informed of an entry key hidden that we found the 2nd day there. In our thoughts this key was not locked in the house which someone could have entered the property while we were there. Another issues we had was the thermostat, were not sure if the owners can control it from their phones due to it being a smart thermostat. When we got there the cabin was hot and set to 86 degrees which is what they ask to be cut up to prior to check out. We understand that. We cut it down to 72 to have it cool off. There was multiple times where the thermostat would be cut back up to 76-78 degrees without us touching it. This made our stay hot and uncomfortable most of the time. Needless to say we would cut it down as we found it had been cut back up. I do believe that with what we paid for the cabin we should have been able to be comfortable in the cabin temp wise. Another issue we found was insects all over the cabin that looked like lightening bugs but they were not. They crawled all over the roof and would fall on us while we slept so we had many sleepless nights with the bugs and the temp in the cabin. I would recommend to the owners to put up curtains to close off windows at night in common areas. We stayed a week for our anniversary, during the day it was amazing with the views and relaxing environment which we were outside most of the time or site seeing. Night time is where we had issues. The neighbor is good friends with the owners so I'm sure he keeps a good eye on their place which is a good thing. On our second day there early in the morning 3 dogs showed up. Not to sure where they came from but we assumed they were neighborhood dogs. The neighbor questioned us on if they were our dogs because he hasn't seen them around there before. We explained our dogs were at home because you cant have animals here. Like I said not all our experience was bad, if things were to change on the bugs, locking of the cabin and the thermostat we would stay again at this cabin.

Delightful Cabin on the River
This cabin had everything for our weekend getaway with friends to celebrate my husbands birthday! The view of the River from the deck was mesmerizing. We were captivated by the peaceful tranquility of our surroundings. Inside, the cabin is clean, spacious and nicely updated. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal. It has a very nice bathroom with a large shower and nice sized bedrooms. Communications with Steve and Linda were easy and the location was great! Can’t say enough good things about our weekend here!

MotoGP/COTA stay
This was our 2nd stay at the Bastrop River House, as our base for attending events at COTA - and it was the perfect place again! The hosts are helpful and communicate quickly and clearly, and off the perfect respite from a busy day at the track.
We've seen the cabin during Fall and Spring and it's lovely to see the changes in the wildlife and flora. LOTS of birds singing as the sun rises - the perfect way to start the day, with a cuppa on the deck! Thanks again Linda & Steve!

Our 1st Family Vacation!
This cabin was the best. The beauty of the river. The ease of checking in. The immediate communication from the owners was top notch. Also, I cant say enough about the small town its located not even 5 minutes from. Bastrop is such a welcoming and nice place to be a tourist in. We spent more time at the cabin and in Bastrop than we did in Austin(lol). However, Austin is easy access. We could not be happier with our stay. The Nobles Family🥰

Scenic Riverside Retreat
Bastrop is one of the more interesting small towns in Central Texas, and we stayed two miles away from the historic downtown in a cabin on the Colorado river( the Texas Colorado, not the more famous one in the state of Colorado). This quaint, romantic spot is located on a river front, natural setting just off the beaten path but close to area attractions.
The views from the main living area, the master bedroom and the deck outside are amazing. Pictures do not capture the depth and beauty of the views.
The cabin is described as a treehouse as it is on stilts and a flight of stairs above the river. The house is uncluttered and has all the comforts of home. The gas fireplace in the living room was our favorite place to sit and read and look at the view. Good internet, no TV. We played scrabble each night in front of the fireplace. There is also a firepit close to the lake with plenty of wood provided.
The owners were extremely helpful We needed to postpone for a week and they accommodated us straight away. All communications were timely.
We absolutely loved this peaceful retreat

Great property in a great location. Had a very enjoyable time. There were a handful of cockroaches seen throughout the house. Not a huge issue for my stay specifically, but could be for someone else.

Beautiful property on the Colorado!
This place was everything we had hoped! Our kids enjoyed the river while the adults hung out in the quiet upstairs. The amenities of Bastrop are a few minutes away and a community park just downriver provides a nice pickup point for an afternoon tube ride. This is a great getaway!

Perfect Log Cabin Getaway
The Bastrop cabin was perfect and exactly as pictured. Everything inside was clean, comfortable, and updated. We enjoyed sitting on the upstairs balcony every morning with coffee, listening to the birds and the river. Our kids played ping pong every night and fought over the hammock. The town of Bastrop is so cute too. We ate at local restaurants and kayaked the river. If we ever decide to visit Bastrop again, we will definitely try to stay here!

Perfect River View
We had the best stay at Steve and Linda’s River House! The river view from the deck is wonderful and captures the bend in the river perfectly.!
The place was exactly as described, had everything we needed and was spotless. Steve was very attentive and responded quickly to requests. Five stars all the way!
We will definitely book again when in Bastrop.

Beautiful and Relaxing
We have nothing bad to say about our stay!! I loved not having a tv!! We all spent time together fishing, swimming and playing games. For me the most memorable was watching my kids fish on the dock and the fireflies at sunset. We will definitely be returning!!

Wonderful Views and Relaxing Time
We found the cabin to be quite comfortable and very well-stocked! The view of the river is definitely the property's star point, it's beautiful. We loved the decor and amenities here, especially enjoyed our family ping pong tourney :) Although the river was really high while we were there and we weren't able to do all the activities we would've liked, there was still plenty of things to do, including going down to Main St (awesome book/record store, Paw Paw's Fish House was great, distillery was fun, lots of live music going on). We also brought our bikes and enjoyed riding around and having a picnic at the Bastrop State Park for the afternoon, which has a nice swimming pool, if only we had brought our suits!
