Great spot to gather with friends. Grilling, campfires, and canoeing. We were able to sleep 4 adults and 4 kids (9, 11, 11, 16) comfortably. Easy access to Shenandoah. Surrounded by beautiful and peaceful farmland. Short walk to the water's edge. Host was very accomodating and solved a couple small issues promptly.

Right on the Shenandoah. Beautiful Scenery. Relaxing time on the river, and Covered Porch.
Good early Morning Coffee Views in all directions. Close to town, although doesn’t feel like it. Host Scot very responsive and helpful. Will be back. Definitely recommend!

I was looking for a spot to relax and recharge so the quiet farm setting was the prescription I needed. Seeing cows and Mr. Donkey made me smile every morning.

We were looking for a few quiet, relaxing days, and that was exactly what we got. The property is rustic and simple, with a beautiful view of the Shenandoah river. The property is well kept, with a grill, fire pit and hot tub. The decor is beautiful antique. We greatly enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room, talking and reading. I walked around the house and used Google lens to identify the portraiture throughout the house; very interesting! The swift run gap entrance to skyline drive is right up the road, making for an easy trip to hike and see waterfalls. It's far enough out from big cities that the night sky was magnificent. Definitely keeping this one for future visits.

The river house was the perfect setting to kick off spring break for our kids. We brough our dogs who were as happy as could be chasing balls through the yard and watching the cows in the pasture. My husband and kids enjoyed fishing off the dock and taking a trip down the river in the canoe. And we all enjoyed evenings soaking in the hottub. So much beauty to soak in throughout the valley and this location was absolutely delightful. Thank you for letting us stay!

Great location. DARK at night. Secluded. Comfortable house. The one bath is in the first level, so if you have to use the bathroom at night you have to walk down some steep steps. Otherwise, good property. I’d definitely stay there again. Property manager was very nice and helpful.

Beautiful Farm Location Along the River!
This is a very old well-kept historic river front home nestled in the Shenandoah Valley near the Massanutten Resort. We come every year for our after Christmas ski trip and stay in different VRBOs each time. This one we would use again. It was surprisingly warm one of the days so we used the canoe and paddle boat (though we recommend you replace the ropes as one rope got stuck in the paddle boat wheel and the ropes are in bad shape). The kids (college age) LOVED going on the river! We also used the hot tub a couple times. We ran out of time to use the fire pit or grill, but those are nice options. The home was well stocked with all kitchen amenities, games, towels, basic supplies, etc. The beds in the adult bedrooms were very comfortable. The bunk beds weren't as comfortable, but were fine for their purpose. There's a TV with lots of cable options in every room, the wifi worked great, and we found a few games and cards which we used. The only thing that would have been nice to have on site was some laundry pods as we had some muddy towels from boating we needed to wash and had to go to the store to buy laundry detergent. Overall, we loved our stay and the owners were very communicative and easy to work with.

Relaxing stay
Our family had a relaxing time and even though it feels like the country, there are restaurants and shops less than 15 minutes away.
We would certainly consider staying again.

Property was beautiful. We had a wonderful time. The linens and towels were provided. That was a huge plus with so many people. River access was a little challenging due to steps needing repair. Found a spot down the road to gain river access. Bunk bed mattresses were not as comfortable as the two queen beds. All in all it was a great get away.

Perfect farm house
We really enjoyed our time here. Our border collie absolutely loved barking at all the cows just next door and the large yard to play in. Brand new mattresses to boot!

Great vacation!
We enjoyed our stay! Great location! Quite & relaxing time! We enjoyed the hot tub and had a great time finishing on the river. Our only suggestion would be to put a picnic table down at the river for guests to enjoy.

Outstanding fall vacation home!
This was an absolutely awesome place to stay! Beautiful views of Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River. Clean house with comfortable beds and spacious bedrooms! Wonderful large and spacious kitchen. Absolutely loved being in a historic farmhouse. The sofa/bed is not really usable so would suggest bringing an air mattress for sleeping or watching TV, but we could see why it enhances the historic decor of the living room! We had an absolutely wonderful, relaxing time and most enjoyed waking up and having coffee on the porch watching the cows in the morning. Our dogs had the best time they have ever had in the extremely large yard where they could safely run and play. Loved the firepit and hot tub, always prerequisites for us. We will definitely be back, hopefully next fall, with more family members.

Loved it!
The house was perfect for our family of 6 and our dog. When we came across issues in the house, the property manager responded immediately and addressed our concerns. We loved everything about the house: the layout, the location, and the amenities.

Great place to stay!
The listing was accurate. The house was clean and equipped with the necessities (towels, linens, tp, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, silverware, etc.). The check in and check out process was very easy and we did not have any problems during our stay. This property was close to Massanutten Resort and Harrisonburg. The house was a good size for 3 adults and 4 kids. Peaceful property with nice views.

Great get away from the city.
It was clean and nice. Enjoyed the jacuzzi. The only thing we would have liked is a sturdier table, it didn’t seem safe for my kids to eat at the end of the table. But otherwise it was a nice house to relax and enjoy the view.

Nice little country house
We stayed here for the proximity to the Swift Run Gap entrance to Skyline Drive. Enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the hot tub and the scenery. The cows provided much entertainment for us as well!

Nice property in the country. Close to the river. Good for canoeing.
House was comfortable for 8 adults and 3 kids. Beds were fine. The pull out couch however was not! Really not useable. Kitchen was pretty well equipped. Hot tub, great! Fire pit, great! Canoe, great!

Beautiful, quiet and close to National Park
Our family used this as a home base for hiking and exploring the Shenandoah National Park. It was very comfortable, the wifi is fast, which is a plus for the teenagers, and it is just a beautiful place to sit on the porch and relax or build a fire and roast some s'mores. We did have trouble figuring out how to get to the river once we finally decided to walk down there, so some more detailed instructions on which gate to open and which direction to walk in order to get around the bottom fence might be a good addition to the map in the book. A 9x13 casserole dish would be good too:)

We had an amazing time at the river house!
The River House was great! It was the perfect place for our family to have a mini vacation. It's location was perfect. The quiet and stillness was exactly what we needed after my husbands deployment. We will definitely come again. The house was clean and well maintained. Before we left we were able to take the canoe out on the river and soak up the nature. We can't wait to come again and may even look into a summer stay:) thank you for sharing your lovely home with us

Cancelled reservation less than 24 hours before check-in
My friends and I were beyond excited to meet up for a much needed post Christmas getaway, but our reservation was cancelled by the property owner less than 24 hours before our check-in time. I messaged the property manager today to confirm check-in instructions and received an immediate response with the answer to my questions. About an hour or so later I received a phone call from the property manager that the owner had an "unexpected life event" and has to cancel all reservations for this week. I was offered a future extended reservation at no additional charge or a refund. The property manager told me she tried to find somewhere else for us to stay, but due to such short notice she wasn't able to find anything. She was very kind and apologetic and based on her statements, this was out of her control. I had to accept the refund due to not knowing the schedules of the other people on the trip and also because of the short notice of the cancellation. It is far too late for us to secure other lodging and we've had to cancel our trip altogether. It is hard for me to understand what sort of life event would be cause for cancellation of a rental that is managed by a property manager and is not a primary place of residence.

Great Thanksgiving Retreat!
This was a perfect place for our family of 7 and dogs. The rural setting, proximity to the national park (30 minute drive) and access to the river on the canoe allowed us to experience the region with a very enjoyable place to stay. We were all comfortable in the house and shared a lot of laughs and stories. I would recommend the house for anyone looking for a quiet family retreat in the country. Harrisonburg is a reasonable 30 minute drive for a dinner out and shopping.

Great getaway for family and friends!
My birthday is during Labor Day weekend and I decided to rent a property for the second year in a row to get away and celebrate! This property was perfect! We were a group of 12 and there was more than enough space for all of us inside and outside of the property. The house was very well maintained. The room with the bunk beds definitely helped accommodate our large group. Everything was nice and clean at the property when we arrived and we made sure we left it that way when we departed. The river is about a 2-4 minute walk down the hill from the house. A couple guests and I were able to carry a canoe available at the property down to the river and use it for some fishing. The space in the yard was fantastic also. We were able to play a small game of 6 on 6 kickball. My guests and I really enjoyed our stay at this property and would definitely come stay here again!

Quiet retreat on the river
This little farmhouse was just the thing for a spring break trip. The kids loved the rope swing and playing in the nice yard as well as spotting wildlife and farm animals. To grow ups enjoyed the hottub and gorgeous views of the night sky.
