About this chalet rental
HighlightsThis luxury three-bedroom, two bathroom chalet is a fantastic choice for a winter or summer holiday in the mountains. The fabulous, uniquely-shaped and fully-windowed dining area is mirrored in the master bedroom below and allows you to fully immerse yourself in the stunning mountain scenery. The chalet is right next to the "bisses" in the summer with direct access to the start point of hundreds of kilometers of biking and hiking trails. Ideal for couples, groups and families seeking a peaceful mountain retreat with the option for plenty of action-packed activities on the doorstep.
Bedrooms & BathroomsThe master (double) bedroom has amazing 270-degree windows with one-touch electric blinds to easily shutter out the external world and provide a more intimate setting. There is also an en-suite shower room. Also on the lower (bedroom) floor is a double/twin room and a third bedroom fitted with bunk beds for two people. A second, family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower is situated on the bedroom floor. A guest WC is situated by the chalet main entrance door. La Tzoumaz Chalet Catherine is equipped with a high chair and a folding travel cot (bedding not provided) suitable for children under 2 years old, and a second is available on demand on arrival. Please note that in accordance with the manufacturer's safety instructions, additional mattresses are not provided with the cots.
EquipmentIn the kitchen you will find all the basics: a fridge and an oven with hob. A kettle, microwave, toaster, electric filter coffee-machine, Senseo coffee machine plus fondue and raclette sets for a traditional Swiss evening in front of the log fire. A hairdryer, iron and portable outdoor barbecue are all available for you to use and there is a washing machine available for you to use. A ski and boot storage area provides the perfect solution to storing your ski equipment, ready for the next day.
RelaxingSitting around the table in the feature window area discussing the exploits of the day or your plans for tomorrow could be relaxation enough! Alternatively, you can choose to relax in the large living / dining area, watch the flat-screen TV or listen to music, or simply sit on the balcony and admire the beautiful panoramic views that face the chalet. On a blue-sky day, the view stretches 20km, up to the peaks of the Haut de Cry and the Mont Gond. The chalet grounds border a forested area, which in summer fills the air with delightful birdsong. Sitting at the garden table you can while away the hours watching the tiny cars far away in the valley as they hurry between appointments in the distant towns and cities.
InternetChalet Catherine is equipped with free WIFI for your own private use.
PetsWe’re sorry but this is strictly a pet-free property. Please browse our selection of pet-friendly rentals if you would like to travel with your pet.
ParkingAt least one car is advisable in both summer and winter. There is space for two cars outside the chalet, a 4x4 is recommended to access these spaces due to 20m of steep gravel access road. Winter tyres and/or snow chains necessary in winter due to frequent snowfalls. Contact us for railway or airport transfers.
WinterThe chalet is a short 1.5km (1 mile) drive to the Etablons Roundabout, where you will find the main piste, the Babylift carpet and the Etablons Chairlift, along with an apres-ski bar and the bus-stop to take you into the resort centre. The main piste leads down from this roundabout to the Savoleyres telecabin. The modern high-speed telecabin carries you from La Tzoumaz up to the top of the Savoleyres in less than 8 minutes, from where you can decide to ski back on the quiet La Tzoumaz slopes or ski down to Verbier’s legendary slopes and world-class off-piste opportunities in the vast 4-Valleys ski area.
SummerIn the peak summer season (from early July to late August), we provide you with free VIP pedestrian lift-passes, half-price mountain-bike daypasses and a range of other discounts. The telecabin link to Verbier operates daily at this time of year from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian, or accompanied by your bicycle or e-bike. For a small supplement you can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for the highest fondue in Europe and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.
In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Visit the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, and the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The Bisses are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved and can now be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We will provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier. Try not to miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.
For familiesThe centre of La Tzoumaz benefits from an outdoor ice-skating rink in winter, and a children's playground area in summer, with a rope-based agility park alongside more traditional equipment such as slides. A fun channel system with running water is built into the hillside to provide plenty of entertainment for older children too.
At the exit of the village the Domus playground is a fabulous spot, often bathed in late afternoon sunshine, with swings, a zipline, see-saw, climbing frames and even old tractors to clamber on. It is overlooked by an outdoor cafe (check opening hours) providing drinks, snacks and ice-creams. There are rabbits, donkeys, goats, and there is also rock-climbing on the local crag in the background (contact us for equipment and instructors).
The Maison de la Foret has a cafe area for drinks and snacks (check opening hours), wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail with hands-on activities to borrow such as bird-whistling and learning to draw. The Nature Trail has disabled parking and is accessible to wheelchairs and children's buggies.
Right at the top of the village is the "Defis de la Riviere", which is equipped as an outdoor physical challenge area for older kids on the river. There are sensory walking areas for younger children and a basket swing, and also a picnic spot nearby.
A short drive down the valley takes you to the large lake at the Parc des Iles, with its playgrounds, high-ropes park, minigolf, restaurant, miniature train and more.

Wow!
Wunderschönes Chalet in traumhafter Umgebung.

Comfortable cozy chalet
Our family of three spent a lovely week at Chalet Catherine during Christmas.. The chalet is really spacious with high ceilings and even a loft with an extra tv. The view from all the windows is really amazing. It was very clean, with modern furnishings and comes equipped with everything family and friends could need for a vacation. The staff at 4V4S were super and so helpful and great with communicating with us before our arrival and answering all my questions. Check-in and check-out were a breeze even with all the covid precautions. Just a wonderful getaway!

Auf den Fotos sieht es grösser aus. Ist aber zweckmässig eingerichtet. Für eine Zwischensaison etwas zu teuer. Alles in allem OK

Schneeketten waren hilfreich. Auch im Sommer sicher eine einzigartige Location.

Winter wonderland
The chalet was just as beautiful as the pictures. Every room had amazing views. The fireplace was cozy and the sliding glass windows made it easy to step out onto the beautiful winter wonderland.
Management was accommodating when we arrived later than expected and the property manager showed us to the chalet and quickly walked me through the property.
Overall, the entire experience with the property and the rental staff was exceptional.

Beautiful House in the mountains with very nice view
We spent 2 weeks in Chalet Catharine. It is as nice as it looks on the pictures. We had 2 weeks of sun shine in the Mountains but this is a home where you would not mind if it would rain and you would have to stay in for a couple of days. Highly recommended.

We had a great time staying at this wonderful property.

Ok
The house was really beautiful and specious, however we did miss an info map. For instance, a telephone number of a doctor in case of emergency, opening times of the nearest supermarkt, those kind of things.
The panorama view in one of the bedrooms was amazing, however we didn’t sleep well on the beds.
When you have kids you’ll have to walk about half an hour to the nearest playground. Between seasons there’s not much to do around the area except walking. Most of the bisses were closed because of old snow.
If you want to see something, you must use your car regularly for a daytrip or so.

Nice Chalet
Chalet Cathrine is a beautiful chalet with a beautiful view. There are some wonderful walks that can be made from this location and so much to see and do. We enjoyed looking out over the valley and watching as the leaves changed color from the living room and master bedroom. We had a wonderful time and the chalet is comfortable, but because we were there for 4 weeks, we had two flaws with this chalet. The first being a privacy issue. There are large windows on all side of the chalet and they have no window coverings, except for the 3 bedrooms, and one of the paths that people use to walk goes right by this chalet and people look in and can see just about the entire upper level. This path is used by many people so there is quite a bit of foot traffic by the chalet. The second flaw is the mattress in the master bedroom is not comfortable with ripples and a big bump popping up, and these caused us to have back aches and sore necks from sleeping on this.

Great amenities, nice location, stunning views that makes you want to stay longer.
This chalet provided all we needed (for 5 adults). Hiking was close by, the area was quiet but not too remote. If we did not go anywhere that day, there was room for us all to spread out and enjoy our surroundings.

Delightful chalet in La Tzoumas
We stayed at Chalet Catherine in June with a couple of old friends. It was a beautiful home with amazing views and a good location for hiking in the La Tzoumaz area. The only thing that keeps me from rating it a 5 is that we were not told that booking during the off season meant lifts and restaurants in the area would be closed. The local grocery store was open, so we cooked for ourselves and still managed a couple of great hikes. It would have been fun to be there a couple of weeks later when everything was open. Beautiful chalet!

Stunning Chalet indeed!!!
We a family of 4 with 2 adult sons stayed in Chalet Catherine from 19/12/2016 till 27/12/2016 and had an amazing holiday.
The Chalet is everything you can wish for , set in a stunning position with great views and has privacy.
We never grew tired of looking out of the window while having breakfast and after a full day skiing it was great to come back to such luxury , a chalet that is always warm thanks to the under floor heating and lovely log fire.
Chalet is equipped with everything you need and we cooked every night in the well equipped kitchen.
The beds all have extremely good mattresses and lovely duvets.
Bathrooms are as described and we used the provided washing machine daily.
Janni from the the agency provided a table grill , raclette set and hairdryer on request and service was excellent.
We would have liked access to a boot room to store/dry our ski boots after skiing , I assume it was a locked room downstairs but am not sure , ski's we left in the car ,but storing skiboots in entrance hall was not ideal.
Chalet is a short distance to the ski lift and lift takes you up swiftly to local ski area ,although there had been little snowfall , all pistes were well groomed , most days we travelled to the Verbier area ( approx 40 min trip using lift and bus system available)
We had a dream holiday in Chalet Catherine and would recommend it without any hesitation!!!

Amazing Views! Peaceful, Safe, Clean, Comfortable!
Our stay was for two - the house was beatiful, had amazing views, is in a peaceful setting with the sounds of Switzerland all around, felt completely safe even with the bedroom blinds open at night, extremely clean, comfortable living!
The only thing to mention, it took us over an hour researching how to operate the washer, before we realized the water was turned off, and then we had no dryer to dry clothes - uncertain if the dryer is integrated into one unit or if there isn't one, but if integrated, we couldn't figure out operation!

Breathtaking
This property from the drive from Geneva, arrival at La Tzoumaz, to the departure was all that we could hope for. The only improvement we could suggest would be to offer some English brochures in the area. To be clear we had no disappointments in the property condition, views, and the amenities.
Anna and Percy did a fabulous job!!!

Breath taking peaceful retreat !
We stayed for six nights and loved every minute of it. The views were breathtaking and the house was very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking and baking. The access to trails are within walking distance. The local market is within driving distance and has quite a selection of groceries. We cooked every meal so I cannot speak for the restaurants in town. There was a Catholic Church in la tzoumaz so Sunday mass was not a problem.
Truly a lovely home and such a treat for us to rent at such a reasonable rate. I highly recommend this place!
