Last night in Siargao

I like that there is a kitchen that can cook food when you’re lazy to go out. My flight was moved a day so I had to look for an accommodation and the host arranged for airport transfers

Cheap hostel but not comfortable stay

- Spacious room and big bed with mosquito nets - Clean and fragrant sheets - Affordable price - There's a communal kitchen with microwave, water heater, rice cooker, etc. It's also complete with cooking and eating utensils - Relaxing overall ambiance. The compound is surrounded by many trees and plants. - Bidet in the 2 communal toilets

- The hostel is not on the main road. If you don't ride a motorcycle, you have to walk for 5 mins to get to the main road. At night, there are very few light posts. Also, the area is not in a central area. There are very few food options. It's better to stay at the other side of Tourism Road. - We got a room with shared bathroom. We don't mind the communal use, but the toilet and shower were always full of mosquitos! There's no ventilation. There's no window nor any gap hole for air to circulate. - Since the room is made up of wood, every footstep or noise from the guests upstairs could be heard. - The air-conditioner made a lot of noise every 5 mins. It auto stopped cooling and there wasn't any way to adjust it. - We arranged a van pickup but the lady forgot to book it. In the end, we just directly contacted the van driver and he said the lady didn't book anything for us.

Sometimes there would be no water, the aircondition wouldnt go lower than 23 degrees.

Cool hostel close to the surfing spots

Great vibe, slightly tucked in from the main road, much more quite and chill than the neighbouring party hostels. Has an adjacent outdoor gym and a communal kitchen. People are friendly and easy to connect with and the staff is awesome.

Nothing to dislike really.

The location is very near cloud 9 so if you plan to surf a lot during your stay, you can consider this place.

I didn’t like that the room details included airconditioned dorm but it only have electric fans around the dorm area.

It served the purpose of a place to stay. The location is close enough to main area. A common area like kitchen is available for use.

not your hostel if you want to rest

after traveling and sleeping for 3 hours in 2 days we were exhausted and went to sleep early. At 1am in the morning I hear people shouting and laughing, drunk as hell, talking really loud and having no respect for people (there was no one from staff to control this). they continued for 2 hours even tho I asked them to shut up. Next day was more or less the same so I had to sleep with my airpods on with noise cancelling. Apart from that, we found 4 huge cockroaches in the room + one went up to my leg when brushing my teeth.

Good Fitness / Gym facility

The manager / host was unwelcoming and often hungover which made for quite a strange atmosphere and it felt she chose who to bring into the circle vs exclude. Toilets often had no paper and shower not clean

Nice vibes with ok facilities

Hostel has a good vibe with most people staying for weeks

Dorm is too small for number of people with too few toilets and showers. Lockers not available for every guest, but if ok with leaving stuff outside no bigger problem. Generally, staff is friendly and helpful. Still, certain staff members just shouldn‘t work in the hospitality sector as they make guests feel uncomfortable.

Cockroach and noise but nice room

Nice and cute rooms

We got cockroach in our room. We mentionned it to the staff but they saod they have never seen amy before. We check the kitchen the next day and it was full of dead and alive cockroacj so be aware ! At night some guests came back from partying and made a lot of noise, the staff wss jot there to manage it.

Affordable price, good for solo traverler if you don't have too many requests for the accommodation

- Location: The location is good, really close to cloud 9 and General Luna - Staff: Super friendly and helpful - Environment: The room is spacious and the bed is clean and soft - Atmosphere: Homey and cozy, good for solo traveler since all the peopel here are friendly and easy to make friends here

- Location: The road to the hostel is bumpy and muddy, really need a motorbike with good skill - Environment: The bathroom can be cleaner, there's no hot water and hairdryer

the staff and people at Ilakai were amazing, some of the best people I’ve ever met.

the toilets always smelt bad and the room also smelt. the road to the hostel is quite difficult to walk on especially at night where it could be more dangerous

The staff at Illakai is a treasure! I loved them and despite the fact that the place needs lot of improvement I stayed for 5 nights. Kai is amazing taking people to the parties and the beach. She took me paddle boarding and Santa Fe beach. Great family feeling place.

The place is a bit run down. Beds have no curtains, even windows in the dorms have no curtains so the light comes in at 4 am. The door handle to the room was broken, outside tabs both broken (well one functioning but water flowing out of the sink rather than in) the showers full of empty bottles and trash.

Exceptional

10/10 Great hostel, the vibe is amazing. Having a kitchen is a huge advantage aswell. The wifi works great. It has a great mix of people making it great for all kind of activities, from remote working over morning yoga to long party nights. The fan dorm is great and not too hot at night (at least in my opinion). The staff is really helpfull no matter what the problem is. The hostel has a gym which is nice to have aswell. The location is great too, located a bit off the main road so its quiet at night. The next beach (jacking horse) is just a five minute walk from the hostel. Cloud nine is close aswell. Boats departing to the best surfing spots depart just 300m from the hostel. The showers are clean and the water preassure is great, especially for the philippines.

The bathrooms could be a bit cleaner, but thats mainly due to the usage of the bidet (which basically leaves everything wet).
