About this cottage rental
A cozy cottage in the heart of The Willamette Valley. Walk to restaurants and tasting rooms and then relax on your own front porch or barbecue on your private back deck. The cottage has two bedrooms, both with Christopher Knight (tm) aloe vera infused queen-sized beds for a great night's sleep. The fully outfitted kitchen is ready to make an entire Thanksgiving dinner, and the clawfoot tub in the bathroom comes complete with bath products to pamper yourself.
Although we’re walkable to many attractions, our street is tranquil and you'll enjoy sitting in a porch rocker with a glass of wine (in our varietal-correct Riedel glasses), or relaxing in the backyard hammock or lounging furniture. (You may rent it as a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom and pricing is commensurate and based on the number of guests and the number of bedrooms used). If renting as a one-bedroom the second room will remain vacant and locked during your stay).
About The Valley Wine Cottage
A historic cottage built in 1920 with period-correct furnishings but with all of the comforts of a modern home, such as screaming fast WiFi and central heat and air. The home is furnished with antiques to make you feel like you've stepped back in time.
Amenities:
The Valley Wine Cottage comes fully stocked with everything you will need for your stay - from half and half and a selection of coffee and tea for your morning repast (perhaps on the front porch rockers?) to varietal-correct Riedel glassware for wine lovers, to toiletries (including bath salts for the restored vintage tub).
Each bedroom comes equipped with two fluffy robes and slippers, a hair dryer, space for hanging clothes, shelves and a luggage rack. Each bedroom is light and bright with two windows (but with blackout curtains so you can sleep in - as you should on your vacation!). Each bedroom also has an electric alarm clock with charging ports.
We provide luxury toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream and razers, body lotion, bath salts, contact solution, blow dryers and flat irons, an iron and ironing board and much more.
We also have a flat-screen Smart TV programmed with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Showtime, HBO-Max, Starz, Showtime, Apple+, Disney+ and with Internet access for live streaming (all free to you).
What guests can access:
You will have the entire home to yourself - including outdoor spaces (porch with rockers, seating area with adirondack chairs and full deck with outdoor dining and lounging furniture and a hammock. Bocce Ball court in the backyard. Full laundry room with washer and dryer and laundry supplies.)
We want you to feel like you're in your own little wine country cottage, so we will not be present during your stay, but are just a phone call or text away or can be there in 5 minutes if you need us. We have a very comprehensive guest book full of recommendations and locals "hacks" that we will email you in advance to plan your trip.
Other Info:
We are also the owners of Valley Wine Merchants, the most comprehensive wine shop in the Willamette Valley, which is just 6 blocks away from the cottage. Part of our hospitality is to offer your own personal "wine country concierge" to recommend wineries and tasting rooms to visit based on your palate. Feel free to contact Andrew at www.valleywinemerchants.com for recommendations ahead of your trip!
For more photos and info about the cottage visit www.valleywinecottage.com.
The neighborhood:
Newberg is the very heart of Oregon Wine Country. There are over 300 world-class wineries within a 20 minute drive to our house and 10 tasting rooms within walking distance of our cottage. We are also just blocks away from the Hoover-Minthorn House Museum - the childhood home of President Herbert Hoover. You can take a short stroll to the historic Cameo Theater, which shows first-run movies in a historic gilded theater. Newberg is also home to one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters on the West Coast. If visiting your college student at Nearby George Fox University you can walk or take a two-minute drive. We are blocks away from world-class dining (including "The Painted Lady," which is voted Oregon's best restaurant), antique stores and coffee shops.
How to get around:
You can walk to tasting rooms, restaurants, antique shops and historical sites. It's a short drive to Wineries and World-class dining. You can walk or take a 2 minute drive to George Fox University. Uber usually takes 5 minutes to arrive.
Fully appointed kitchen, laundry and outdoor spaces make this the ideal place to call home for a long weekend or extended trip. The home was fully renovated in 2017 to include brand new central heat and air conditioning, a new water heater (for luxurious baths in the restored clawfoot tub) and new electrical wiring and plumbing. You'll only feel like you've stepped back in time.
The home is appropriate for long stays (visiting winemakers or traveling distributors?) or for business travelers with a designated desk area stocked with office supplies, and screaming-fast Fios Wi-Fi.
Come shelter in a beautiful place! We are using enhanced cleaning procedures and keeping the cottage vacant at least 24 hours between guests. We sanitize all high-touch surfaces before you check in. We also provide masks, hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes for your stay. Many restaurants deliver to the cottage and we have lovely outdoor dining space on the back deck. Lots of restaurants in town (that you can walk to) also offer outdoor dining and limited capacity indoor dining! Newberg is open!

We were very pleased with the cottage and our stay. Michelle was very communicative throughout the process and the cottage was well-stocked with commonly needed items (we appreciated the stain remover on this trip, not something you'd find at every property!). The main stretch of Newberg is very walkable from this property and we enjoyed its proximity to many of the local wineries/vineyards during this trip.

The owners have thought of everything! They renovated this charming house keeping original character but adding modern touches such as the old-looking clock that is actually a Bluetooth speaker! We received excellent recommendations on wine and places to dine. Highly recommend for anyone looking to spend some time in wine country. Easy access to the coast and other must see sights in Oregon.

We enjoyed our stay in this beautifully renovated and furnished cottage. As an avid cook, I especially appreciated the abundant supply of herbs and spices, seasonings, coffee and coffee equipment, and particularly the recommendation to shop for fish at a wonderful local fish market. The updated 1920s stove was great fun to cook on. Michelle and Andrew seem to have anticipated every need.

Lovely cottage as advertised and pictures were accurate which isn’t always the case. They did think of everything and more. Sitting on back deck very relaxing. Convenient location.
Hopefully will return again.

It’s the little things…. So many things provided to make our stay more comfortable such as coffee, sugar and cream, toiletries, even umbrellas. Newberg is very walkable, and we enjoyed a morning walk into town for breakfast each day. Michelle provided a great guide for the area, along with clear instructions on how to use everything in the house. Andrew helped steer us to wineries based on our criteria and also helped us ship some wine home.
The reservation process was simple including check in and departure. Owners were very responsive to questions we had during the stay. If you go early in the week be aware that many restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesday. We enjoyed wonderful meals at the Newbergundian Bistro (great halibut caught the same day and filleted one hour before I ate it) and Earth and Sea in Carlton where the scallops and ahi tuna were amazing.
While the house has been fully renovated and updated, it still retains its period charm with a claw foot tub and beautiful kitchen with copper ceiling tiles and unique stove. It was spotless, and street parking was always available right in front of the house.
All in all a great getaway spot!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here!!! Very clean and I’m sure anything you might have forgotten I’m sure is stocked somewhere in the cottage! Nice outdoor sitting area, a cute little breakfast nook for board games or eating, close to dining, stores and not a far drive to wineries! The cottage was perfect for us!

We planned a quick stop in Oregon wine country on our way home to LA from Seattle. After seeing this charming cottage, I wished we were staying longer to enjoy all it had to offer! This is a home that showcases a loving restoration but with safety updates and added touches of elegance and comfort. Michelle & Andrew: We really appreciated the attention to pandemic safety and your anticipation of any possible need we might have had. It really was incredible! As a former history teacher, I loved the historical notes of the area, the home and its contents. I’m sure our paths will cross again! Thank you!

Home was immaculate and well attended to. The front garden was planted with beautiful flowers and the interior was wonderful with great attention given to providing whatever a guest may want or need. Very comfortable and homey. Michelle is a very friendly and helpful host and responded promptly to txts, questions, etc. I wish we had been able to spend more time here. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful property. The house itself is a blast from the past and the outdoor area is fantastic. I highly recommend spending time on the hammock.

If there was a measurement for Hospitality per Square Foot, this little cottage would be off the charts! Michelle and Andrew have thought of every detail and spared no expense in this delightful little haven. Everything inside the house has been chosen with care - from the to the delightful antique and period-styled fixtures (warm copper kitchen ceiling, enameled vintage stove) and luxurious modern comforts (air conditioning, burr grinder for coffee, tall rainwater shower, etc!) to the insanely well stocked courtesy supplies, (they actually had reading glasses! How did they know I would forget mine?)...we were discovering new delights for the whole two days of our stay. I was nervous about travelling during COVID, but with the PPE and safety precautions in place here, we had nothing to worry about. We were able to walk to a park and the cute downtown area, where several restaurants had outdoor dining or takeout. And the fact that many of the traditional tourist activities were closed, was the best excuse to just lounge in the hammock and find exactly the escape from everyday stress that we were looking for. Andrew's Village Wine Merchant store was the one indoor exception we made... He's got a wonderfully helpful description on each product, though tastings are unfortunately on hold for safety reasons. In short - Michelle and Andrew are incredible hosts, and you should book a stay!

It was perfect for our short stay in Newberg! Space was comfortable. Great to sit on front porch in rocking chair with a hot beverage in the morning! Would definitely stay here again!
