About this house rental
***New Large Covered Hot Tub with outdoor bar and seating area has arrived***
Sleeping up to 19 in our 5 large bedrooms offers really flexible sleeping arrangements for guests, as long as people are willing to share rooms. We welcome weekend and short breaks. It really is the most amazing house and it could well be the oldest lived in house in Wales as the manor dates back to the mid-12th century and was built during the reign of King Henry II.
Guest accommodation is on the 1st and 2nd floors where you have exclusive use during your stay. We do live on site but you are unlikely to see us unless we pass on the driveway while walking the dog. You have your own front door, and key-box for access, there are no shared spaces, the manor is huge and is basically set up as a semi.
Located only 20 minutes from Bristol, 30 minutes from Cardiff, and 35 minutes from the ancient roman town of Bath. It is the perfect location for touring both England and Wales. The Manor is located on the southern tip of the Wye-Valley, which is an area designated for its outstanding natural beauty.
The Manor is only 100 yards from the Norman Castle at Caldicot with its 55-acre country park and lovely walks. Located in a quiet village and surrounded on three sides by a high stone makes this an amazing place to relax and enjoy life.
We do everything we possibly to can to make sure you enjoy your stay but we are always available if there is anything at all you need, even if you've just forgotten to bring something with you, you can always contact us and we will try and help.
The Medieval Manor exudes an inner warmth, and unique charm. Lavishly furnished with antiques this unique opportunity to enjoy life in a medieval manor should not be missed. The manor is a special place but is very much an ancient farmhouse, we welcome groups with children and pets.
On the borders of England and Wales you are perfectly placed for touring both countries. Less than an hours drive to: Hay-on-Wye, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tetbury, Monmouth, Brecon and the Cotswolds. All of which have a unique individual character and will inspire and entertain travellers.
We can put you in touch with private caterers or for those who would rather dine out the local castle pub is just 100 yards away. We also have a full list of service providers to help you with your plans.
As we live on site we are available if needed, however we give you your space and you are unlikely to even see us. There are no shared spaces, the manor is very large and guests have exclusive use of the 1st and 2nd floors with their own driveway and front door. All of the interior photos shown are of the guests exclusive accommodation.
Please note we often we do not normally start bookings on Saturdays but for short breaks sometimes we can make an exception so it's always worth asking.
We are happy to welcome pets at the manor and now have a completely enclosed front garden.

Honestly one of the best stays I've had. Becky answered all my very annoying questions prior to arriving and was super friendly when we arrived. We were 13 and the place was large enough for us all. There's lots of seating inside and outside. The hot tub is really lovely, clean and large! The place was spotless and has all these cute medieval bits and bobs everywhere which is super vibey! The kitchen has everything we needed for cooking for lots of people. There was a sweet arrival pack of tea, milk and biscuits. The local Wye Valley was so nice for walks. Honestly can't fault it.

Comfortable stay with modern kitchen but keeping the medieval feel/look of the property. Nice pubs and a friendly bistro nearby.
There's a spacious outdoor sitting area and BBQ.
We had a great family weekend away.
Just need to be careful with the staircase as some steps are quite narrow without a fixed bannister.

Excellent location for family celebration
Wonderful historic building with so many rooms to explore. Excellent for multi-generational hide-and-seek. Very good facilities, and the children loved the garden as well as the house.
Neighbourhood is housing, but the manor itself was great for 11 of our family (plus dog) celebrating our golden wedding for a week.
Plenty of places to visit in the area, including Usk, Caerleon, St Fagans and the Wye Valley. The Castle grounds nearby are also an asset - jogging, dog-walking, football and family games generally.

Oh my days!
What a beautiful property x
The grounds are just amazing with plenty of room to keep everyone occupied yet safe.
Tastefully and respectfully furnished with very lovely period bedding and towels.
The manor was very clean with a lot of essentials (brand new) provided.
The kitchen and banquet room are really user friendly for a big family like ours and the dog was in her element scampering about.
The attention to detail with the recycling is really reassuring given the number of guests the manor accommodates
Caldicot castle is walkable
All in all, remarkable family fun.
One of the loveliest bespoke experiences we’ve ever had .
Huge thanks to Becky for welcoming us into her wonderful house and her fabulous provision of care, correspondence and attention to detail xxx

Week at the Manor House
We had a great time at the manor house worked well with our group and the children loved being close to the castle and the twon.

Sadly disappointed and strange environment surrounding the fascinating house!
Possibly perfect for fanatical dog owners and walkers in large groups.
The children loved it. Good proximity to Caldicot Castle!
Lacking in normal kitchen equipment and light. Sitting room smelling of dogs, and sofas archaic. Shower curtain very unhygienic. Damp smelling, and drain odours. Bedding leaves much to be desired. Sorry to leave this information and there is more. So sad after lockdown to experience this.

The family came together from various parts of the country to celebrate my birthday. So .... the venue was important. The old manor house did not let us down. We had a splendid and memorable weekend - full of fun and laughter in splendid surroundings. Excellent time had by all.
The manor was well presented but appears to be a little "tired" overall - especially when one considers the cost for the weekend !! However, the quirky environment and addition of a hot tub alleviated some of the "tiredness" of the manor.

Everyone loved the property, including nine grandchildren, ages six to seventeen. We were blessed with superb hot weather so were all able to appreciate the grounds and nearby park.
A couple of points that would have improved our stay are only minor ones but feel the owner might appreciate knowing.
Neither of the CD players worked, a few disappointed children as a result, dishcloths and tea towels were not in kitchen ,one guest searched the house and found two tea towels, a couple of small saucepans would have been useful. Even with a large crowd small pans are needed sometimes and the worst omission was of small serving plates. We had to abandon our first course on the Friday we arrived because there were no plates to serve it on.
Apart from the few criticisms I have made I think Llantony Secunda Manor is an amazing place to stay at, the owner and housekeeper were excellent, responded promptly whenever I contacted them.
Our whole family group would recommend the manor for a memorable and wonderful holiday. thank you.

Great place for a group
Convenient base to explore South Wales. Fun place to stay given history and features of building. We had a really good time.

Spacious and atmospheric
Becky was really responsive to all queries and requests and the house was beautiful - the pictures don’t do it justice!
It’s hidden at the end of a surprising. road but once you arrive it’s very peaceful and spacious, with gigantic bathrooms (and great baths).
It fit us as 12 people, some sharing rooms (there are 7 bedrooms with a mix of doubles and singles).
Would recommend!

House full of character, great for family gathering
We had a lovely weekend at Cadicot Manor at a family gathering. Our ages ranged from 82 yrs to 15 yrs and everyone loved the house. It's a very interesting property with lots of history and carefully restored to preserve its character. Good kitchen with everything we needed and lots of space for the family.
Thank you Becky.

Lovely midweek break
Booked the Manor for the whole family to celebrate my mum’s 60th. The whole process was very user friendly and the owner and housekeeper were brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay; plenty to do in the surrounding area and the Manor itself was lovely. The children all had a great time and enjoyed the medieval style of the accommodation; I would definitely recommend. Very handy being able to take along the pets as well.

Wonderful experience
Lots of space for our crowd of 12. It was a real experience in a beautiful, character filled home! Great kitchen, furnished beautifully with great bathrooms and plenty of hot water. Mattresses and pillows could be better in some of the rooms.

Amazing place and very responsive host
I stayed at this 800 year old manor house and had an amazing time! The house had all the modern comforts you would expect in today's age, but still kept all the charm of a Medieval dwelling.
The host Becky was very responsive and we are very thankful accommodating our myriad of questions without fuss. She even helped arrange for the cleaner to accept shopping and put it in the fridge before we arrived, which is something small but makes a huge difference.
Would stay here again given the opportunity.

House full of character and history which bought our family together in celebration
The house exceeded expectation! On approach we could not believe it was as good in real life as it was in the pictures! The whole family were blown away. The house space lent itself to people sitting together and chatting and playing games. It also encourages group meals on the amazing long table where we stayed for hours reminiscing and sharing jokes and stories. This is a house which we will have very fond memories of as we joined together to celebrate a very special birthday.
The house itself was clean and tidy. There were already supplies on arrival which was great. The house was lovely and warm and very well equipped. It is obviously that there is great pride in the presentation of this home and we appreciated it and have now shared it’s history. Thanks to the whole team that make this house a home from home

An impressive 800 year old Manor House
Impressive old house - full of character. Kitchen could be better equiped with smaller items eg enough dessert spoons for everyone to eat at the same time ( there were only 9), some serving spoons and serving bowls etc. Garden a little dissapointing and the "play house" full of clutter - but non the less we had a good time and feel that the character of the house added a lot. Grandson especially liked the long dinner table which he thought like in Harry Potter!

Golden Wedding celebrations at a Golden Venue
A very special place for a very special occasion. We were able to accommodate all of our family (14) from several ares of the UK, Australia and China! The unique historical character of the Manor with stone walls, wooden beams, spiral stairs and four poster beds fascinated the family especially the children.
The large banqueting table and kitchen facilities and friendly local caterers provided a memorable celebration meal. Spacious gardens permitted family games in the good weather we enjoyed. although garden chairs as well as picnic tables would have been helpful.
The Castle and Country park in Caldicot and proximity to motorways and Chepstow enable us to explore the scenery and history of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and as far afield as Llantwyth Major coast.
Thank you for enabling us to have such a memorable week.

A wonderful experience
We recently stayed a Llanthony Secunda Manor, a wonderful medieval manor house We spent a long weekend with family, for a very special celebration. On arrival, we were met by the owner, who proudly showed us around, and gave us an insight the history of this 800 year old property. The rooms were amazing, very clean, and towels and bedding good. The house is stunning throughout, from the bedrooms, banqueting hall, lounge, well resourced kitchen, and Victorian bathrooms. We all felt very comfortable in the house, which is suitable for adults and the children. We had a magnificent banquet, dressing in historical costumes, enjoyed by adults and children alike, and felt we were sharing in the history of this fabulous place. The town of Caldicot is within walking distance as is Caldicot Castle, with many events taking place at the Castle throughout the year. Our stay at Llanthony Secunda Manor was a very special and very memorable. Highly recommended.

Fantastic!!!
Such a fabulous weekend staying at this beautiful house.
Well resourced kitchen but the knives needed to be sharpened as catering for 16 people with blunt knives was hard!!
We would definitely stay again!!! Thank you.

A great medieval house with lots of character
We spent a week here and found it very comfortable with everything we needed. There's plenty of interesting places close by to visit, and the weather was amazing.
A great find for our family holiday although we did take our own sun chairs in the garden, as the elders amongst us needed backs on the chairs rather than sit on the the benches outside.
The bedrooms were amazing especially the two four poster bedrooms. Shame we couldn't see the tower as this was locked and under renovation. It kept us fit going up and down the various staircases. We would definitely go back again.

A surprising home away from home :)
Immediately felt at home whilst being shown around by the house keeper. Everything you need for a comfortable and unique stay! Comfy beds, lots of fun for young children, we could even bring the dog! A castle and pub within walking distance, and supermarkets all close by so just wonderful!

Excellent place with a medieval twist
Very interesting house - great kitchen for socialising and we particularly liked the banquet hall.
Towels and bedding were good and we found the place clean.

Amazing unique property from a different era!
This property, which used to be a monastery, was lovingly restored to its former glory. Such a unique experience! Also, great modernised kitchen and bathrooms, we had no reason to eat out as it was such a pleasure cooking in this amazing kitchen. I organised a birthday weekend for my friend in it and all the guest were amazed, I felt so proud for my great find :D Weather was not great but we had lovely indoors BBQ in one of the many open fires in the banquet room. Chepstow and its castle were also very nice to visit. All in all, an amazing weekend just 2h away from London!
