About this house rental
The Art Deco HouseUK offers luxury self catering family holiday accommodation for up to 16 guests.
A wonderful original and unique Art-Deco House overlooking Sandown Bay on the Isle of Wight which is probably one of the most spectacular self-catering properties in the whole of Southern England.
Offering spectacular sea views (and sunrises) over Sandown Bay towards Culver Cliff, this magnificent villa was built in 1929 and takes full advantage of the cliff-top location, and is probably one of the Isle of Wight’s premium properties.
This grand detached house has decadently proportioned rooms: all main living and bedrooms have large windows topped by stained glass detail, framing the vistas. Art Deco influences include an upstairs sun room with huge sliding picture windows to enjoy the breathtaking sunrises by day and bay illuminations by night. Huge stained glass windows bring out the oak-panelled hallway, magnificent staircase and galleried landing.
Sleeping up to 14 adults comfortably (plus 3 children sharing rooms in their own beds- best suited for children/teenagers) across 6 bedrooms with a magnificent Art-Deco lounge (seating 16 comfortably) and a 20 seater dining table, this house is perfectly suited to a multi-generational family get together (it has mobility access for wheelchair users) for a self catered holiday, where you can treat the magnificent house as your own, with total privacy for your extended family.
Just about all of the furniture has been rediscovered and is lovingly resurrected from the 1930's. From the walnut cocktail cabinet in the lounge (which apparently was used on the Elstree Studios set for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) to the stunning wardrobe and dressing table suite set in Bedroom 4, which were rescued from a house in East London, this house is simply Art-Deco at it's best.
Start your day in our house, by experiencing the most stunning and beautiful colours of sunrise, by leaving your seaward facing curtains open, even just a little so that you awake naturally. The sunrise photo shown here is a 100% genuine view from the window, taken on a mobile phone!
From the house, there are wonderful cliff top walks (or runs), you are right above the beach (actually it is a lot of steps to get down, perfect for walking off the dinner. If you have the excuse of a pushchair or use a wheelchair, then you may take the more leisurely slope down!) There are lots of cycle routes across the island. The whole of the Isle of Wight awaits you.
Included in the price are all linens (bedding and towels, except cot bedding), and free very fast internet and wifi.
Highest Grade Award by English Tourist Board ( 5 Stars and GOLD STANDARD for Customer Service )
Visit-Britain Mobility Grade 1 & 2.
At an additional price, a special dinner including an in-house chef and hostess/stewardess can be provided for the evening or freshly pre-prepared gourmet meals delivered which you simply heat up and serve. A special event cake can also be organised.
The property is fully licensed for alcohol and we can provide a list of carefully selected magnums of wine and some fine champagne (and not at silly prices). For those seriously into wine, we also have a private collection that we can draw some exceptional cases of wine for the discerning palate.

We were a multi-generational family (13 people ranging from 2-70) celebrating a special birthday. The house was perfect for us all with plenty of bedroom and living space and a lovely big dining table. The bathrooms worked well even though not ensuite. Loads of hot water, crockery, glasses etc. We all slept upstairs and didn't need to use the downstairs bedroom. The gardens and outdoor space were fabulous, we just needed better weather. The locaction is excellent, there is a locked gate straight onto the cliff path with a very popular cafe metres away and steps down to the beach (quite steep return). The owners and manager were extremely helpful. Would wholelheartedly recommend.

Excellent House. Brilliant Location. 5* Amenities.
The owners have put so much attention to detail in this house. The aesthetics are impecable. You feel the depth of the history and character of this building.
it is superbly kept up to the highest stds. Literally every signle detail is thought through. It is fully equipped for a large group.
They have invested generously to deliver a very luxurious stay, They are passionate about the house and hospitality. It makes the difference.
Although, they specify it is a self-catering house, optionality on daily cleaning, toiletries, etc.. would be great.
I think this house will continue to age gracefully as it is thoroughly looked after. Many generations to visit will enjoy its warmth, character and unique experience.

A great house and garden with excellent flow and comfortable bedrooms and living space. Perfect for a large group or family but those with boisterous children might need to sterilize certain areas of valued breakable 'decor' items shortly after arriving. All in all a wonderful example of an art deco house with stained glass windows to die for.

11 of our family visited and stayed at Marine Villa during August 2021. Ages ranged from 11 to 90 and we also had family with accessibility issues which are well catered for. The ground floor accessible bedroom and shower were excellent for our needs.
There is one en-suite bedroom, and the remaining bedrooms share 3 bathrooms, this gave our family’s and children a bathroom each which was great. The property easily catered for 11 people, with ample large and comfy bedrooms, large kitchen and multiple ovens, kettles and toasters. The dining room is fantastic seating us all, with room to spare.
The house was spotlessly clean. Everything was provided including towels, toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets etc.
The garden is lovely, where we breakfasted regularly.
We bought two paddle boards whilst on holiday and these were carried up and down the coast path to the local beach on several occasions.
A walk to the lower end of Shanklin Chine takes about 20 minutes along the coast path and esplanade.
There is plenty of private parking for multiple vehicles.
Karen, the house manager met and welcomed us warmly on arrival and went through everything with us.
We were lucky to have the master bedroom, wow! This has to be seen to be believed.
We envy Laurence and Sharon whom we met today on departure, both lovely and what a house to eventually retire too!
We couldn’t find anything that wasn’t catered for or thought of, if we had I expect Karen would of had it covered.
Not the cheapest place to stay, but the house is huge, 11 of us still made it look big. The cleanliness and quality speak volumes. Just book it, you won’t be disappointed.

We have just come back from our second stay in this lovely house. It had everything we needed to make our time really enjoyable. The location is wonderful for the views and convenience for cafes, shops and the beach. The owners had replaced things, redecorated rooms and added to the facilities since we had been before and the local team checked that everything was OK during our stay. Highly recommended.

Even better than the listing
It truly is the fantasia of Art Deco which the listing and pictures suggest, but with delightful grounds, a spectacular view, and oodles of space too. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful - a real treasure.

Big Family Stay
Having stayed innShznklin many times as kids we chose the same for a big family holiday. We booked Marine Villa and were not disappointed. It’s a beautiful property in a fantastic position with amazing gardens and views. The huge dining room was great for family dinners and a hilarious Murder Mystery night. A lovely stroll along the cliff path to Shanklin or Sandown and a couple of great cafes and bars literally hundreds of yards from Marine Villa on the cliffs. Will definitely be back. Also note the b&b opposite is ideal if you need extra beds.

Perfect family Christmas, complete with decorations!
This home was perfect for a holiday family reunion. Plenty of space, towels, beds, showers and toilets. Something for everyone - a run down by the beach, a stroll through the amazing gardens, cooking, an easy afternoon reading, or taking in a movie. The dining room is warm and inviting allowing for wonderful family meals and making amazing family memories. Really perfect us all. Thank you so much Marine Villa!

A stunning property in a lovely location.
We had a wonderful stay in the Art Deco House. We went with our children and grandchildren to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary and it was a perfect venue. The house is really well equipped and the welcome pack was very much appreciated. We would thoroughly recommend it.

Memorable visit
What a wonderful venue for special celebrations and family gatherings.
Our stay was planned to celebrate my 70th birthday and Marine Villa enabled the whole family to spend some precious time together on the Isle - ages ranged from three to seventy years but the house suited all.
The venue gave plenty of space to be all together for meals etc. - or individually to find a quiet corner to read or just sit and relax.
The house is well equipped and the garden is beautiful.
Many memories have been made and the time to enjoy each other’s company, aside from what is normally a hectic world, can not be undervalued.
All would love to return in the future....and hope to.

A holiday you will treasure
I stayed here with family to mark my 50th birthday. We’d been stunned by the photos and descriptions of the house, but the reality exceeded these. An absolutely beautiful place, as is clear, but this beauty isn’t at the expense of it also being a comfortable, welcoming and very well appointed place to stay.
Great location - lovely to pop out of the garden gate and straight onto the coast path - and beautiful views out to see from most of the bedrooms.

The property was absolutely amazing; cleaned and presented to a very high standard. I would definitely go there again if I could afford it.

A fabulous house for a large family reunion
We were looking for a house suitable for 10 adults and 6 children, 4 generations, 92 years old to 9 months. What a find!!Fabulous. The house was spacious, especially the drawing room; the kitchen well equipped for all the cooking plus all the household facilities for dealing with such a large party. There was a huge garden for the children to play in, and there was seating for eating meals and lounging in the sun. The view from the upper sunroom was superb. Some spent time on the beach, down the nearby steps, others walked the adjoining coastal path. It was also easy to catch the bus to other parts of the Island. Everybody of all ages thoroughly enjoyed their stay.

We all really liked the house and had a great time. Thinking of booking again for next year.

Definitely recommend the Marine Villa. So much history and decor. Fantastic location.
We had a 60s birthday party with 10 friends and we all had a fabulous time. Great to come ‘home’ to gather in the drawing room after a nice long walk just leaving from the back gate enjoying the seaside of Shanklin. All aminities were great, very well equiped kitchen, and all the bedrooms perfect for everyone. I can’t thank Laurence enough for the service he provided us, and Lizzy who helped us settling in.
We had an unforgettable weekend!

Beautiful house, wonderful views, delightful owners.
We booked Marine Villa for a house party with family and friends to celebrate a special birthday. As all of us are fans of the Art Deco period the house was perfect.

fantastic long weekend stay with friends
the house and garden exceded our expectations. It was stately with views over the sea from the top storey. The inside had an art deco theme with no expense spared, in the kitchen there was everything you could possibly need. American fridge-freezer and to our delight, (there were 10 of us) there were 2 dishwashers. we did the huge, stately dining room justice with banquet feasts (one evening we used the outside barbeque) the beds had top of the range tempur mattresses which were not too hot like some. the weather was a bit cold because it was October, so we didnt use the outside dining table or sun loungers, but it would be excellent for hot weather. the gardens were grand with a large well kept lawn with a central pond and fountain ( which wasnt on) there was fish food in the house to feed the fish in the pond. Wed would like to thank Laurence and Sharon for allowing us to share their much loved home

Fantastic House and location
I stayed at the Marine Villa for 2 nights with 7 friends.
The house is fantastic and in a stunning location. Perfect for summer BBQs.
Lizzie was very helpful and there when we arrived to make sure we knew where everything was and that everything was working.
If I come to Isle if Wight I will try and stay here again.

Fabulous location
If you are looking for a break for a large family The Art Deco House at Shanklin will do very nicely. The family owners are clearly passionate about this lovely house that takes you back in time to when children would play hide and seek in the magnificent gardens for hours, which ours did.
Beautiful dining room, good bedrooms and fitted out to the period when one dressed for dinner. A unique experience on the cliff top of Shanklin which boasts a magnificent beach with an abundance of cafe's, restaurants and bars.
This is not a City, it is an average sized seaside town.

A Very Special Place!
The unique Art Deco style and ambience, together with the wonderful location, make Marine Villa an exceptional property. The spacious rooms, large garden and panoramic sea views afford a wonderful feeling of opulent relaxation. Our visit was for a 70th birthday celebration with all of the family. One of the presents was a personalised monopoly board game with all of the places and streets important in those 70 years. Mayfair was Marine Villa! It certainly deserves that position! Laurence and Sharon, thank you for allowing us to share your home to make such happy memories.

Lovely Art Deco house
The house was a wonderful homage to Art Deco, great facilities, and a lovely location. The only downside to the property is that if you have toddlers there is a large sunken pond in the garden which is obstructed from every seating area view, this doesn't allow for a relaxing break if you have any under 3s! For older children (who can trust won't fall in) it's a lovely large place to run around in.

Amazing place to stay
There were 3 generations of the family staying. 13 in total.
Very well equipped and more glasses than most pubs have. Only slight downside is that en suite was not in vogue when the property was built. There are however enough bathrooms to allocate one to each bedroom, so only a very minor problem.
It is definitely in a much better condition that all other placed that I have stayed in and it is obvious that it is also the home of the owners.
It was very cold when we were there, but the heating system was up to it.
The Hidaway bar and restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the back gate and is open for breakfast. So no need to do too much cooking.
We all enjoyed ourselves, and have happy memories of Grandads 70th Birtday treat for the family.

Beautiful property. Wonderful views.lovely walks
We were a large crew of serious foodies ... the kitchen works very well and the dining room is spacious and easily seated our crew. Beds were very comfortable and the house has a great ambience. The cliff walk at the end of the garden is lovely and you can walk for miles which we all loved. Cannot rate it highly enough ... easy walk to shops. The wines we ordered were delicious
