About this apartment rental
We call this lovely flat Swallow's Rest. Filled with charm and all you need for a fabulous extended urban experience. The windows open onto a courtyard, letting in light and shielding you from city noise. Step outside and it’s a quick walk to the sites, great dining, music and more. This 2nd floor condo includes air conditioning and is 2.5 blocks from Whole Foods and 1 block from an Amazon Go, the ultimate in contact free shopping. We have weekly and monthly discounts to make an extended stay affordable. Bookings of 28+ days avoid the 10% city hotel taxes, this is just the law but knowing can save you.
Built in 1922 and converted to condos in 2007, Swallow's Rest is filled with charm and everything you'll need for a fabulous urban experience. The windows open out over an interior courtyard, letting in lots of light and shielding you from the noise of the city. Step outside and you’re a quick walk from Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, AMZN & MSFT offices, great dining, music & more
Swallow's Rest is in a pretty perfect location. Here’s what you’ll find on a 10 minute walk:
• Stroll North and you’ll be at the Seattle Center, featuring the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Key Arena and Experience Music Project. The Gates Foundation is just across the street.
• Head South and you’ll be at the flagship Nordstrom store, Zara and a ton of great shopping. You’ll also find the Washington Convention Center in this direction.
• Meander West and you’ll be on your way to Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Great Wheel, Seattle Aquarium and the Ferry Terminal (take a ride to Winslow an enjoy the views and village).
• Walk East and in four blocks you’ll be at the center of high tech Seattle – Amazon, Microsoft and a number of innovative start ups have offices here. Plus a slew of great restaurants.
Dining.
Seattle is a very foodie town and within a block and a half of Swallow's Rest, you’ll be spoiled for choice. (and the flagship Top Pot Doughnuts is just 20 steps from the building’s front door). If you want to dine in, there are three grocery stores within walking distance – including a Whole Foods.
With a Walk Score of 99, you truly can get just about everywhere on foot.
We don’t recommend renting a car for your visit – you can grab a cab at the airport or take the Link light rail to the Westlake station (35 minutes/$3) and you’re 4 blocks from the condo. If you do drive, there’s a parking garage half a block away with competitive overnight rates.
To explore Seattle’s other neighborhoods – Ballard, Capital Hill, Fremont, Madison Park and more – try Uber or (website hidden) any of these options:
• South Lake Union Streetcar (2 blocks away)
• Pronto Cycle Share (around the corner)
• Trip planning, King Country Metro (bus stops nearby)
If you want to explore outside the city, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise and Budget all have offices within walking distance. Great day trips include wine tasting in Woodinville or visiting Port Townsend, The Ho Rainforest and Mount Rainier.

I spent 4 nights at this wonderful apartment and couldn’t have been happier. Location, location, location! Walkable to restaurants, the waterfront, the Convention Center, the Space Needle, etc. Fully appointed, tastefully furnished, cozy, clean, and compact. Would definitely stay there again.

Easy to walk everywhere. The umbrella was a wonderful add!
The clean air return vent in the washroom could use a clean. And I couldn’t find a dishcloth anywhere.
However, slept well, brought home flowers from Pike market, grateful for the vase. Safe building, closest neighbors obviously East Indian - smelled wonderful at first… but clearly that flat is permeated.
Overall, wonderful stay, thank you.

I was in Seattle for the film festival for 11 nights. John & Lynn’s place is cozy, clean, efficient and overall wonderful to stay at. Located in Belltown, I was close to lots of great restaurants with an easy walk to Downtown, or a short Uber ride to Uptown. The apartment had everything I needed, especially a washer/dryer unit given that I had a longer stay. The air conditioner was a bonus since there were a couple of warm days. One note for those who might not be as mobile, the unit is located on the 2nd floor so you have to go up a flight of stairs. I would definitely book with J&L again when I’m back in Seattle. Ps. Renting e-bikes to get around the city was so fun.

We could not have asked for a better spot in terms of access to major sites. The apartment was exactly as advertised and the hosts do a great job of making you feel welcome. Would stay here again for sure. Thank you!

Excellent walkable location to most major attractions in downtown Seattle. Good information from property manager which was very helpful in finding restaurants, etc.

Apartment lived up to its description. Very clean. Based on other reviews I was worried there would be a lot of building noise but all I heard was a couple of doors opening and closing and someone walking around upstairs. I would stay here again.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. It was wonderful!!! My husband and I felt safe, it was convenient to use public transportation, and so so clean!!! My husband can be hard to please and he even said he would stay here again. The bed was comfortable even with me traveling with a broken shoulder. It is an older building and knowing that John and Lynn have ear plugs for you. We did not need them but it was a nice touch. The washer/dryer was nice as we needed to use it a few times. Your clothes might feel damp after using it but just open the door and let some of the steam out or hang them up as there was plenty of hangers. They provide Tide pods but I like the Wash Ez to travel with as it is a soap and dryer sheet combo…works great with the washer/dryer combo. We did not cook in the kitchen but it appeared to have everything you need. John and Lynn even had a cute welcome basket of treats waiting in the kitchen. The best part is when it is time to leave just leave no cleaning!!! That was amazing! I have stayed at other VRBOs that want you to do a lot of things…not them. Truly the best VRBO experience ever!!!!

Owner provided terrific experience from beginning to end! Great location - very walkable. I didn't have a car and didn't need it. Would highly recommend staying here.

Great place to stay! Cute property with everything you could possibly need fir a great stay in Seattle. Can walk about anywhere from their property.

Nice spot close to so much in downtown Seattle. It does have thin walls. You can hear your neighbors and sometimes guess what they are having for dinner. But that aside, I walked everywhere and slept great for a bed away from home.

Overall, the unit was clean and comfy. However, the windows were super drafty and the apartment complex was so noisy. We could hear everything, from the neighbor cooking food to the hallways being vacuumed at 7am to the person above us taking a shower. Not the place for privacy.

It’s a small spot close to a lot of amenities. Downside was the lack of parking and additional fees because of that

Our stay was so peaceful, and the location could not have been any better. Within walking distance of all of Seattle's best offerings. We will definitely be coming back, hopefully sooner rather than later.

This place was perfect. Small but with a huge closet so we weren’t tripping on our luggage, great bathroom and totally substantial kitchen. Easy walk to Pike Market, Space Needle and transportation to take you wherever you wanted to go. Great hosts, too.

The outer door opens directly onto marble steps and then inner door opens opens into the hallway with wooden stairs leading up. A little tricky to manuever luggage up around the doors after buzzing in but manageable. Definitely a feeling of stepping back in time a bit to a studio apt. We loved the location - walking distance to everything we wished to do and some we discovered - ferries, Pike Market, the Space Needle park, the Spheres and area, restaurants, clubs. Because of where the windows faced the view was not wonderful but that allowed the street noise (sirens, cars, people, ...) to be much more muted than another nearby place we stayed in Seattle. We slept well. It was a good trade in our opinion and the small courtyard view was not bad, just not the Seattle skyline or Elliot Bay. The notebook of things to do, places to eat, and general local knowledge was FANTASTIC and we hit up several of the places. Unexpectedly big bathroom for the studio like apartment. The AC worked well though we really only needed it for a few hours in the afternoon. Would recommend for any couple who is not looking for glamorous but wants low key comfort. The communication was spot on and questions were answered quickly.

Property was lovely. Perfect size for a couple. Location was in the center of the tourist attractions. Owners were very helpful with a guidebook. Seattle has a lot to see but the hills make for tough walking.

Located in the lovely Belltown neighborhood with an average age of 35. I loved all the dogs and the dog parks and other amenities located close by, such as walking distance to the waterfront. Safety is good with a locking front door and really good coffee next door at the donut shop. Definitely much to do in Belltown and a fun place. Communication with the owners easy and responsive. Thank You.

I found this gem for the 4th of July weekend. In town for a wedding and it was a perfect location. After all the activity of the city, the wedding and the tourists - this was a slice of heaven. Quiet, clean and cozy.

The property was in immaculate condition when we arrived. It was the perfect location to be in for The Space Needle and Pikes Place Market. Lots of local cuisines to choose from as well. The city was also great with nice friendly people. John did a great job and made it easy for us to get into our place and feel safe.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The hosts offered just the right amount of information and were available when needed. Location is fantastic -- the only danger is the Top Pot donut shop right next door!

Awesome location
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at this apartment! The location was perfect and close to walk to everything. Lots of thoughtful touches throughout the apartment and it’s styled super cute. Only complaint is that I wish there were more than two towels! Would definitely stay here again though. Location made this apartment invaluable!

We stayed in Bothell (a North Seattle Suburb) for 3 days for a family wedding, and then wanted to spend a couple days in the heart of the city. This unit and this location was just what we were looking for. It was affordably priced, has plenty of room for two people, a full kitchen and spacious bathroom, and is a walk or short Uber to most places you'd like to go. We found the Belltown neighborhood generally charming and felt safe. Don't be surprised if you see some homeless people and tents around - this is part of Seattle and most big cities. Just mind your own business, don't make eye contact, and don't engage. We would recommend eating at Top Pot Donut, Din Tai Feng (in the Mall), Rocco's (for Pizza on 2nd St.), and The Five Point Cafe (Voted one of the best dive bars in Seattle). Thanks John and Lynn for the accommodation and hospitality. Travelers, Enjoy your stay!
