About this apartment rental
We call this lovely flat the Jewel Box. Filled with charm and all you need for a fabulous extended urban experience. The windows open onto a courtyard, letting in light and shielding you from city noise. Step outside and it’s a quick walk to the sites, great dining, music and more. This first floor condo includes air conditioning and is 2.5 blocks from Whole Foods and 1 block from an Amazon Go, the ultimate in contact free shopping. We have weekly and monthly discounts to make an extended stay affordable. Bookings of 28+ days avoid the 10% city hotel taxes, this is just the law but knowing can save you.
Location, location, location! This is the perfect home-base for your Seattle visit. Built in 1922 and converted to condos in 2007, the building offers a touch of charming character in our high-tech city. We think of the studio as our “Jewel Box". With windows opening onto an interior courtyard, it’s light-filled and quiet – a good retreat at the end of a long day of site-seeing or meetings. Veteran travelers ourselves, we’ve equipped our “pied a terre” to maximize the urban experience.
We've made coordinating check-in a breeze with a conveniently located lock box that allows you to pick up the keys on your schedule. We'll send you instructions and the lock box code 72 hours before your arrival.
To help you plan your visit, we'll email the New York Times 36 Hours in Seattle (customized with our hometown insight) along with your booking confirmation. Once you arrive, our robust guestbook is filled with suggestions on how to enjoy Seattle (including thoughts on getting around, where to eat and how to find a drop in yoga class), so you’ll have the local perspective at your finger tips during your stay.
The Jewel Box is in a pretty perfect location. Here’s what you’ll find on a 10 minute walk:
• Stroll North and you’ll be at the Seattle Center, featuring the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Key Arena and Experience Music Project. The Gates Foundation is just across the street.
• Head South and you’ll be at the flagship Nordstrom store, Zara and a ton of great shopping. You’ll also find the Washington Convention Center in this direction.
• Meander West and you’ll be on your way to Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Great Wheel, Seattle Aquarium and the Ferry Terminal (take a ride to Winslow an enjoy the views and village).
• Walk East and in four blocks you’ll be at the center of high tech Seattle – Amazon, Microsoft and a number of innovative start ups have offices here. Plus a slew of great restaurants.
Dining.
Seattle is a very foodie town and within a block and a half of Swallow's Rest, you’ll be spoiled for choice. (and the flagship Top Pot Doughnuts is just 20 steps from the building’s front door). If you want to dine in, there are three grocery stores within walking distance – including a Whole Foods.
With a Walk Score of 99, you truly can get just about everywhere on foot.
We don’t recommend renting a car for your visit – you can grab a cab at the airport or take the Link light rail to the Westlake station (35 minutes/$3) and you’re 4 blocks from the condo. If you do drive, there’s a parking garage half a block away with competitive overnight rates.
To explore Seattle’s other neighborhoods – Ballard, Capital Hill, Fremont, Madison Park and more – try Uber or (website hidden) any of these options:
• South Lake Union Streetcar (2 blocks away)
• Trip planning, King Country Metro (bus stops nearby)
If you want to explore outside the city, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise and Budget all have offices within walking distance. Great day trips include wine tasting in Woodinville or visiting Port Townsend, The Ho Rainforest and Mount Rainier.

We loved our visit to downtown Seattle! This studio is in the best location for walking everywhere! Visited Pikes Market, Space Needle, Chihuly Museum and Gardens, the Spheres, the Triangle, and ate at wonderful places! Great hosts, super clean apartment with everything we needed!

Loved our stay on 5th Avenue! The location was perfect. An easy, short walk to the Space Needle, Pike Place market, shopping.
The flat was clean and quiet. The coffee and snacks were a nice extra. We would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed this space for its cleanliness, security, comfort, and smart details like a welcome snack, charging stations at each end table and storage space. We were able to walk to many meals and attractions or get a ride within a minute or less each time. Great location for our needs and anyone doing the typical tourist attractions!

Everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. The closet was great! We were there five nights and only once did we hear the people upstairs walk. The floor was a little creeky. It is close to everything. Totally walkable.

Stayed for a concert. Everything thing you would want is within walking distance. Pike place, good restaurants and right next door to top pot doughnuts which was a bonus!! Place extremely clean and stocked with everything you need - a little noisy when other people are in the hall but very minor complaint. I would not hesitate to stay again!!!

The flat was in an excellent location. it was an easy walk to Pikes Place Market, Seattle center, many restaurants and coffee shops/ bakeries. It was also a short walk to the light rail.

We had a really nice time! John was very good at communicating and check-in was a breeze. The place was as listed and it was very clean! They even left us some nice snacks! Thank you. :) There were some great one-use shampoo, soap and conditioner. Always appreciate this gesture and thoughtfulness! The only complaint was that the neighbors above were very noise in the early morning (5am) and it lasted awhile. Ugh. Also we couldn’t adjust the heat and it was a little warmer than we wanted the first night. It was a really nice stay overall and a great location!! We’d recommend it! Thank you for having us!

This unit is comfortable and well laid out with all the conveniences you could ask for. Access is easy, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the neighborhood is friendly.
We walked all over central Seattle, from Pioneer Square to the Seattle Art Museum to Seattle Center - all within 20-30 minutes from the flat. If you want to pick a central location to explore Seattle, this is it! John is a great host who responds quickly to any issues you might have. Great place; great host - we loved it.

This property was really cute and was within walking distance of many attractions. It is not as quiet as being in a hotel, but the location was excellent.

This condo was perfect for our stay in Seattle. I booked a car rental before booking the condo, so had to pay for parking. I would recommend looking on the street of the condo before paying for the parking garage, if you have a car with you. It is much cheaper and during the week especially we always had parking available. The condo was cleaned and enough space for us to have suit cases spread out. The bed was very comfortable. Easy to get in and out, very clear instructions!

We stayed here last week and we loved it. We only needed an Uber for the airport trip. We walked everywhere. We walked to the fish market, Space Needle, local restaurants, the Pop Culture Museum, the local thrift shops and all over the city. This place is in the perfect area. I walked with my teenage son and we felt safe.

Condo is cozy, but met all of our needs for 2. Despite being downtown it was quiet and we slept well. Donut shop next door became a great morning visit.

This was perfect for mine and my boyfriends trip to Seattle! We were walking distance to everything, including waterfront if you dont mind a bit of a further walk.

Walking distance to everything and only 4 blocks from the light rail. One day we walked from the spheres, to the space needle, to the pier, to pike's place, to chinatown and back. We had a great trip!
The owners are very communicative and let me know that the studio was ready early so I could go straight from the airport and drop off our bags.
We appreciated all the streaming services and used the sounds of rain on YouTube to drown out the sounds of the city. We slept well!
Thanks for the sunshine while we were here!

We loved this place! Location was great and the space is perfect for two people. Comfy bed.
The baseboards were a little dusty when we got there but otherwise it was pretty clean. Only downside is the walls are very thin, you can hear people coming in and out and the cleaners were listening to podcasts on speaker when we were trying to sleep in the mornings.
Overall the location is great and it's totally worth the thin walls.

My daughter and I wanted to spend a few days in Seattle together. Great neighborhood, easy walking and fun places to eat/grab a drink. The two chairs in the living room area were not conducive to sit and talk so someone was always on the bed. Bed was a bit too soft for our taste. Kitchen well stock. All in all a great time.

Excellent downtown apartment
This apartment is a clean, well stocked studio. Loved the snacks, tea and coffee for guests especially for a late night arrival like me! It does not face the street so only noise is from upstairs in the am if those tenants walking around.
The owner is very organized and communicated well. Easy and safe to walk in the neighborhood. I would stay there again

This remarkable condo was perfectly located for all the attractions we came to see. The condo was well equipped with all the comforts of home, and featured nicely detailed decor. A very walkable area, and the hosts provided excellent suggestions for local restaurants, transportation, groceries, and other features. Checking in and out was also a breeze, and the hosts were great at communicating with us regarding our questions. Would definitely recommend!!!
