This beachfront home is ready to welcome your family. Enjoy all that Prime Hook Beach has to offer from sunrise on the bay to sunset over the wildlife refuge. Imagine having breakfast looking out at the bay, swimming with the family right off your deck, watching a beautiful sunset and then having a bonfire under the stars on a private beach. This home features a large kitchen that opens to the living room and dining room overlooking the bay. The house comfortably sleeps 6 with its two bedrooms and a loft. The master bedroom suite has a private balcony perfect for watching the sunset. The master has a King bed while the 2nd bedroom has a queen and a twin and the loft has a queen futon bed. There is a large screen porch on the front of the house perfect for enjoying the sunset or just taking a nap. New in 2023 complete renovation of both bathrooms, new floors upstairs and new slider in bedroom. New in 2019 and 2020 Fire place in living room, king bed in master, queen bed in second bedroom and new twin bed, new dining set on deck, new stainless steel refrigerator and new heat pump AC unit.

We can’t say enough about the buoy house. First of all the host is super responsive and a pleasure to deal with. The house is updated with a great open concept. The views are AMAZING!! Whether relaxing on the deck, porch or on the beach, the views and the vibes are wonderful. The beach was great and the ocean was calm in the bay. Very private , quiet and relaxing experience. A short ride to Lewes and Rehoboth if you are looking to venture out but for a relaxing secluded spot this is the place. We will definitely be back again!

Right on the beach, the house has all the basics covered and then some. Beautiful view, beds and bedrooms are comfortable, extras like board games and lots of outdoor fun stuff (kites, kayaks, beach toys, etc.). Check in/check out, and communication with the host were all smooth.

Lovey, comfortable house for a single family with multiple kids or two small families, but by far the best feature is the location. The ocean is literally the backyard, and it is a gorgeous, family friendly beach. No crowds, small waves, and tons of toys and beach accessories provided. Because the house is so close to the beach, we were able to spend lots of time on the beach while still easily tending to the needs of our small children. Thanks for a relaxing stay!

This was our second stay at the Buoy House. This property set a high standard during our first stay last year, and this year somehow raised the bar even higher. "Perfect" is not a word I throw around lightly, and this house really is the ideal beach getaway for our family of three and could easily (and comfortably!) accommodate a few more folks. House is immaculately clean and perfectly appointed so we could cook some meals at home and close enough to restaurants so we could enjoy some time out as well. And it truly is steps from the beach...we enjoyed lovely weather this year, so we really made good use of that beach time. (and even if Mother Nature had other plans, there is a closet full of board games, which we enjoyed thoroughly during our evenings!) The owners told us they were fully stocked with beach toys and they weren't kidding...there was everything there we could possibly want and things I wouldn't have even thought to bring! And beyond building sand castles, there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. We loved exploring the tidal pools during low tide and even spotted a pod of dolphins right from the back deck!
If you're looking for a peaceful, family-friendly beachfront experience, you will not be disappointed here! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

This is our 2nd year staying at the Bouy House and each time we love it! The private beach is quiet and relaxing. The people in the community are friendly too. The house is always very clean and neat. The owner is updating things every year. With 3-4 showers no one is fighting for a bathroom😆 after swimming either. I do recommend bringing bug spray and note that some years jellyfish are prevalent. Otherwise an excellent place to stay. Highly recommend!!!

The house is lovely and the views from the deck are amazing! Gunnar is the most accommodating host we have ever encountered! He was attentive, answered any and all of our many questions, and repaired the dishwasher quickly and efficiently (it worked great for the rest of the week!!)

The house was comfortable, with ample room for 2 adults and three kids ( and their luggage). We loved that the storage shed had chairs, an umbrella, and plenty more! Our boys found something new to play with each day. My husband enjoyed the kayak. As a mom, I loved that the kids could go back and forth to the house on their own! The host was very easy to communicate with, but we really didn't need anything!!!! We hope to return sometime!

We had a great week at this beautiful, cozy beach house even though the weather didn’t always cooperate. Well stocked with the essentials to make your stay comfortable. Located right off the beach, the water views are awesome. Love the natural beauty of the area. And you have the beach to yourself most of the time (except for the horseshoe crabs and seagulls). Gunnar was a wonderful host, promptly responding to our questions.

Beautiful property! Gunnar (owner) was incredibly attentive and helpful even suggesting a GREAT Indian restaurant in town. He also shared with us the dishwasher was broken PRIOR to our visit, to be replaced Nov 1. Gunnar mentioned the recent upgrades and scheduled appliance replacements in the coming weeks.

Clean, spacious house with an excellent view of water on both sides! Very relaxing and rejuvenating. Perfect for families with kids who enjoy building sand castles, swimming, beach combing, kayaking, and watching birds. Host responds quickly and is very welcoming. Our family chose to stay here for a quick end of summer getaway. It was a great location to enjoy the private beach or take a 20-25 minute drive to more public beaches and boardwalk. Just be sure to bring your bug spray, the green flies can be distracting.

This was our second year staying for a week at this property on peaceful and relaxing Prime Hook Beach. We are still impressed with how well-stocked this rental is with everything you need to make yourself at home and have fun on the beach. The beds are comfortable, the view is amazing, and the owners continue to improve the property. Since we had last stayed here in 2022, the owners had remodeled both bathrooms. This year we spent more time enjoying the screened-in porch—it’s a great place to relax. We absolutely love visiting this house and hope to come back again in the future!

This house is a must-book if you love the beach but hate having to travel to one. Just walk out the back door and you're a couple hundred feet from the water. You can leave your beach gear down by the water and shoot inside for the bathroom, lunch, or just a break. The beach never had more than 15 people on it for the whole stretch of beach.
We had a couple of nice thunderstorms roll through which were crazy to watch. One day the flies were a bit much, due to the wind blowing west to east, so we took a ride to Dewey Beach for lunch and then Bethany Beach for stuff to do with the kids.
The main town area, which is about 15 min away has a Food Lion, Walgreens, and Family Dollar. The house has all the stuff you need to cook if you so choose. We used the BBQ a couple times and it was great.
Fishing, on Route 1 south of Primehook Rd is a great tackle shop in the Valero gas station lot. I got a basic surf casting setup for $49 and spent another $30 on tackle. We caught a few fish, nothing worth keeping, but the kids loved it. At any time, we could just walk down to the water and toss a line in.....probably the best part of the trip.
In town, you MUST eat at both Dough Bar and Irish Eyes Pub.
The only annoying part was the number of mosquitos under the house where you park your car. Unloading and loading the luggage was a death sentence with bug bites and then they'd be in the car.
Other than that, the trip and house were perfect. We look forward to staying again.

Our first stay at the Buoy House, but not our last! We could not have designed a more ideal spot for our 4-year-old daughter's first trip to the ocean. House is perfectly appointed with all the comforts of home, with the beach just steps away. Beds were comfy so we all slept well! The owners said they had everything we needed for the beach and they didn't undersell--fully stocked with all the toys and beach equipment we could imagine and some things we wouldn't have even thought to bring! The location is calm and quiet, and a short drive to restaurants and attractions so the perfect blend. We even spotted dolphins right off the shore!
And Gunnar and Dorothy were super communicative, which was really helpful since it was our first time in Prime Hook.
As they warned us, being right on the shore brings bugs, so we did contend with the mosquitos. Just be mindful of the door when loading and unloading to try and keep them out. A minor nuisance that just goes with the territory.
Our only regret was that our stay was so short. Five-star house, five-star hosts for this very special spot.

This was my 2nd stay at the Buoy House. This beautiful home has amazing Bay views and everything you need for escape from the busyness of life. The closeness of the beach is a plus. Gunnar is quick to respond to any communication and is desiring all his guests to have a wonderful time.

A hidden treasure on the Delaware Bay next to the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The house had every thing we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The view of the Bay from the house is amazing with beautiful sunrises. Be sure to bring food and drinks as the closest grocery is about 15 minutes away in Milton. The kitchen was stocked with the items needed to make and eat meals. Bring plenty of sunscreen and bug spray. With the proximity to marshland, the bugs can get pretty bad at times. However, the house’s screened in back porch allows you to be outdoors even when the bugs are bad. All of the beds we’re comfortable. The outdoor shower was a favorite to rinse of salt and sand from the beach. Jellyfish were already present in the Bay, bring swimwear to protect you and your family from stings. The water is relatively shallow except at high tide. I highly recommend this rental.

If you are looking for quiet time away and your own space on the beach, this is the place to stay. The location is completely convenient for trips back to the house for lunch or to reapply sunscreen so you don’t have to haul everything with you for the day. There was plenty of beach gear available for use during our stay. We would absolutely stay here again.

We had a wonderful and relaxing time at the Buoy house. It is the perfect place to unwind and relax and it’s great for little kids and families. I loved that they could just play on the beach all day and we could see them from the deck. Tons of wildlife to look at and explore. It was our first beach bonfire also!

Our goal for this trip was to have some quiet time by the water and take it easy. The house was actually bigger than we anticipated and literally right on the beach. It was very comfortable and the kitchen was wonderful for cooking. The rooms were comfortable and the outdoor space is great. Plus, we saw a lot of sand crabs, which was really fun. Gunnar was very communicative and kind.
