About this house rental
5 Generation camp on Damariscotta Lake recently remodeled to its original flare. The camp is located on end of Damariscotta Lake in Nobleboro, Maine. Vannah Road does run in front of the camp so there is traffic. Best fishing on the lake where you can get Brown and Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Pickerel, White Perch. We have a huge sandy beach (across the road) with large docks for sun bathing, fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and jet skiing. (we have a paddle board and two small kayaks and jet skis and boats can be rented nearby)
The camp has a very open concept where the kitchen has a five-burner gas stove with convection oven for entertaining or to help with that lobster bake outside and a small breakfast table. The main living room has a couch. The porch is awesome for reading and has full sunlight all day long with 12 windows across the front of the camp to look onto the lake, with two large couches and coffee table- great to listen to the loons, watch the kids swim or play in the large yard, and have a great cup of coffee and read magazines or a good book. We have a great fire pit on our patio where you can hang out and roast marshmallows for s'mores. Great wildlife and birds abound. Our loft can sleep several kids and is fun to play in and has toys. The loft is not made for an adult couple unless you like to be cozy. Updated modern bathroom with sink and shower with a tiled floor.

Overall the camp worked for our family. We were a group of five adults which may not be the best for this camp. We didn’t know that in order to get to the bathroom you have to walk through a bedroom. I didn’t see that in the listing and wasn’t told that info when we booked. That works fine if you have small children perhaps but it was challenging and disappointing for five adults. Also the loft does have a queen bed, unfortunately the head room is quite low. Again, difficult for adults. We did love that there were kayaks and a paddle board available as well as a dock. Also we were looking for a camp to bring the dog so that was a plus for our family. Also the lake is beautiful and quiet during the week. The road in front of the camp is very busy and cars drive very fast and park awkwardly all over on the weekend. Overall we had a lovely stay and liked how close this camp was to so many quick day trips in the area.

It was a great property- but I had to clean all the dishes and outside furniture before we could use anything. The chairs were flimsy and my husband broke one just sitting down on it so we replaced it. I think the cleaning fee was way too high for what we walked into. The lake was beautiful to wake up to every morning, but the traffic was high, people drove too fast for being so close to the road and there were constantly people parked all over the street in front on the house due to the boat launch being right there. I also had to clean the dock for a good half hour because of all the duck poop, we weren’t even able to walk onto it before I cleaned it. There were cobwebs all over. I hate to give bad reviews- but it’s an honest one. The property owner was great, and responsive, and let us check in a half hour early. It’s a camp- not really a cottage. I love the family history of it- but I also this it is priced too high for what is offered. We would rent again, at a lower fee- if it was cleaned properly.

Great Getaway
Nice property, great to have kayak and paddleboard, nice dock and lovely views. Owner and property manager extremely nice and communicative. Big yard, nice to be able to bring our little dog. Loft was good for sleeping as were bedrooms. Great internet connectivity, TV etc if you want it. Would come again. A few things for consideration: 1. The street in front of the house can get a bit busy and people SPEED. So keep your pets close and your little kids closer. 2. The house is near the public boat ramp, so there is some traffic and noise from this -- nothing crazy, but it gets a bit busy on the weekends and other mes. 3. I like cooking. The appliances are wonderful but the pots/pans/cooking tools/plates/etc. could do with an update. I'm not looking for gourmet style, but it's an odd and old-ish collection. The house location overall is nice -- a short drive into town including great ice cream, grocery store, park, etc. Overall a great place, great owner and great time. Thank you.

Respite during a Pandemic!
This is a sweet, family-owned camp that soothes the soul. It is clean, well-supplied, and the owner is responsive and helpful. Normally we would have spent time in nearby Damariscotta but, being out of state, we quarantined.
I swam between 1-2 miles on the lake every day. The grandchildren swam and enjoyed the neighbor's slide. We all enjoyed the paddleboard and kayaks and loons and frogs.
I enjoyed time with my family and without Zoom.
I ate well. My spirit was re-nourished. I remembered that every day we are one day closer to the end of the pandemic.

We loved the DePatsy cottage! It is full of vintage images and chronicles the many decades this family has inhabited the space and land. What an honor to observe. Immaculate, great bed and kitchen. The lake is beautiful, as well as the house and porch. Very responsive host. Many excellent side trips-especially Morse’s Sauerkraut and Odd Alewives brewery. We will be back!

We were so pleased with the cottage on Damariscotta Lake. When we arrived, my 4-year-old daughter ran around exploring. We were surprised to find a loft with a bed upstairs- she called it the “TreeHouse”. The cottage has most everything you’d need- kitchen utensils, pots & pans, cute Maine mugs, a teapot, a fantastic gas stove..there are plenty of blankets, towels, etc. I would bring extra toilet paper & paper towels, in case you go through what’s provided. We loved the big table to gather at and have breakfast..but when the sun was out, we would eat outside in the front. You can’t beat the gorgeous view of the water from the front porch & yard. Spectacular to hear the loons singing...and Wow! The stars are night are absolutely breathtaking. It was so nice to get away from the city. There is no WiFi or TV so
You really spend time relaxing, reading, playing games, etc. The kids playset could use an update...it’s a bit broken. Luckily, my daughter is obsessed with monkey bars right now so she utilized those. The playset doesn’t get much sun so it gets a bit muddy over there. The dock is great- you just have to cross the street to get over there- I loved that they had a little sign to put out front with a warning that children are around so cars will go slow. All the people we encountered in the area were very kind & friendly. The only thing I would suggest is bringing a window fan that pulls in or pushes out air. The camp only has one small fan (at least when we were there on Labor Day weekend).. the upstairs gets a bit stuffy, even with the skylight windows, so bringing a couple extra fans is a good idea. Overall, we loved it- we plan to go back again, for longer! The DePatsy cottage is super cozy, and has that down-home Maine feel, fantastic water views! I am so thankful I found such a lovely place to have family gatherings.

The cottage is precious! Having the kayaks, paddle board & slide available was a huge plus & the swimming was great. You can enjoy the loons, view, and breeze from the enclosed porch or the dock. Plenty of attractions in the area, too. Just a heads up-there was no tv, microwave or volleyball, but we didn't mind! Enjoyed fire pit every evening (camp wood nearby). Everything you might need is provided.

One day, after swimming across the lake with my new swim buoy, I arrived at the dock with my grandchildren jumping into the clear water with abandon and the alewives murmurating about my legs with curiosity, not fear. Similar to the loon who swam by me with his/her adolescent loon chick.
Our family had a delightful one month stay at the DePatsy Camp! It was clean, convenient, simple, and healthy for all to be away from TV and Internet. The town of Damariscotta is my favorite town in Maine and there are so many great restaurants, hikes (Dodge Point & LaVerna), and farm stands/groceries. Do not miss lobsters at Round Pond!
We might do it again next year. Dominic was great and, in spite of leaving a sheet behind in our haste to leave by 6, we hope we were good guests.

What a wonderful getaway!
It was really enjoyable and very relaxing. The house is very cozy with a fantastic front room where you can watch the sun rise and set over the lake. The lake, dock and beach are 100 feet from the front door. The area was private and quiet, except for the occasional vehicle on the road. The town of Damariscotta is adorable and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again, but longer!

Wonderful Cozy Cabin
This is a great little cabin right on Damariscotta Lake. The property is clean and well maintained. There is no WiFi , and very little cell phone reception (depending on your carrier). There was a 13’TV and VCR from 1982 that didn’t work. This is definitely a camp you come to unplug and relax. The fire pit area is great! The property’s porch that over looks the lake is wonderful. The breeze comes through the porch windows is just so therapeutic. There’s a public boat launch right next to this cabin, and a small beach area for you to use. The cabin owner has provided kayaks, a paddle board, and floaties to use.
The road the across from the cabin has constant cars drivin by at all hours of the day. There are a few people that speed by at times. There is a go slow sign the cabin owner has provided so you can place it by the road.
The cabin’s stove and oven is top notch. There was a microwave but it was broke too. The beds in the cabin are ok.
This cabin is just about centered between Booth Bay Habor and Camden, ME. So there is a lot of places to eat, drink, shop, and have fun.
If wasn’t for the the busy road and the lack of a TV, microwave and better beds I would have given 5 stars.

A week of campfires and water play!
Our family really enjoyed our stay at this camp on Damariscotta Lake. The paddle boards and kayaks, fishing, swimming from the sandy beach, and the patio and campfires were wonderful. The only thing that I wish I would have known beforehand was that the loft is actually a small crawl space that you cannot stand up in and that one bathroom is access through the bedroom. Luckily we were with close family and made it work without a hitch and really enjoyed our stay. The owner is responsive and kind. Thank you!

Charming, simple camp with great views and beach
The camp (cottage for non New-Englanders) is exactly as described. Charming, well maintained and with lovely views up an arm of Damariscotta Lake. There were often loons paddling and calling nearby. We appreciated having a first-class stove, charcoal and gas grills, and access to a paddle board and kayak. Our two labs adored the easy sandy entrance to the Lake and were swimming whenever we would let them. The road is pretty quiet, though a few locals drive faster than they should. The owner is fabulous. We left the paddle board out overnight to use the next day and it was stolen. The owner was very fair about compensating him to replace it and was very apologetic on behalf of the community. No wi-fi and marginal AT&T coverage, but this is a place to unplug anyway, so that was fine with us.

Just what was needed after Hurricane Irma!
Want to get away from it all? Reconnect with family and friends? This is the place! Beautiful setting, the basics are covered. We spent every night playing games by the fire every morning drinking coffee watching the lake wake up. Great location for day trips. Thank you for sharing your family cabin with us. We hope to make this a yearly event!
Your new friends from south Florida.

Fantastic, wonderful, peaceful, Divine!
This is a perfect getaway place for a couple or a family. The cottage (camp) is cozy and open with all the windows you get tons of light and fresh air. The lake is beyond description with its vistas right from the house and the temperature was as good as it gets for swimming. We paddled and swam whenever we were not looking around the area.
The only downside is the roadway between the cottage and the lake, most of the time it is quiet but the locals do come ripping thru which is noisy but a concern if you have kids running back and forth.
Otherwise bring your water toys and books and go there to unwind and unplug!

Just as Advertised - perfect camp
A very nice property with lots of charm. Perfect for relaxing, grabbing a quick swim or paddle on the kayak. Even walking on the local farm roads for some exercise was pretty decent. Close to town (Damariscotta and Waldoboro) for re-stocking and restaurants. Nicely affordable.
Has a great patio with fire pit, which is essential to a camp in our view. There are kayaks in the boat house, but I would bring your own, as the ones in the boat house are a bit dated. The paddleboard in there is brand new, if you like paddle boarding.
The cabin was clean and well-appointed. Has one bathroom, which is accessed through one of the bedrooms, so that takes some consideration. The beds were very comfortable. The owner was super-responsive when we needed more bedding and specific directions.
We'll come back again!

Great Stay
Great location--relaxing and quiet. The owners were very nice to work with and the property is very clean. Having the lake across the street was very nice--the week we were there was very hot--unusually hot for Maine but having the lake right there was great. Good fishing. Centrally located to many popular Maine spots to visit. Delano Seafood is right down the road for great take out seafood--was just a great vacation--Thx for the hospitality!!

Maine Summer Camp Week
This is a great camp to rent. We had a fabulous week. The camp including the porch is in A1 condition. The dock and sandy beach were great. Close to Lobster and good fishing. We had many bonfires and great times.

Magic Week
This was our first trip to Maine and we loved this camp. It was clean and serviceable with comfy beds and a large fridge. The porch is lovely to sit in and all the windows are screened, so you can get the fresh air without the mosquitos. The water in the lake was 70degrees and our children spent most of the day there. It is a safe, quiet cove when some of the bigger areas of the lake got choppy. Having the sandy beach is a real plus. It extends to the end of the dock so walking out is pleasant. The rest of the cove is mud and weed underfoot, so the sand was much appreciated.

Wonderful Camp!
This was a great camp to stay at. The inside was nice, clean, and updated. Very bright and well lit. Had everything we needed and was just what we were looking for. We didn't have kids with us, but could definitely tell it would be a great place for them. Beautiful spot. Nice lake, wonderful outdoor seating area, and a nice big yard. We will be back!
