The family vacation was wonderful. The walking distance to the beach was a little further that we anticipated. Upgrades are needed with cooking utensils, toilets and mattresses are old and very uncomfortable. Pillows and mattresses covers had stains on them. Just a few things that need attention. Overall, we had a great time with family. We loved visiting Duck. The pool and hot tub was a huge hit.

Very disappointing! The description of property was very different than the property. Hot tub did not work, this was one of amenities that we looked for in choosing property. No offer of compensation for not having hot tub. There were some issues that took most of week to resolve (outlets not working). Internet went out and I had to spend almost 40 minutes on phone to service restored. Exterior in needs attention- nails sticking up, splinters etc. The distance to beach entrance is further than stated and there is no public access to sound near the property. I would not recommend this property or rental company.

House could use some spring cleaning. There were cob webs and bugs. At check in there was an issue because my brother and his wife arrived before me. They didn't want to give them the keys because he was only 24. On the website it says that if I wasn't there you can designate someone 24 or older to receive the keys for you. The pool got dirty because it stormed. When we called and asked for service they implied we got sand in it,but they sent someone out anyway. The pool cleaning guy was the most pleasant of anyone that we spoke to about the house. He told us the concrete was angled wrong so when it rains everything drains into the pool. They also came to our house to check up on us, which I thought was very odd. My husband said I was sleeping and they insisted they talk to me. They wanted to verify that our group was a family. I think they didn't believe that our interracial family members were related! I would have been happier with the house if Beach Realty would have been more pleasant to work with. I would recommend the house to others if they changed realty companies. The house did have a good layout and location to the beach, but could use some updates. The pool, hot tub, and pool table were nice amenities.

We absolutely loved the Sailfish and we will be back. We have rented for past six years now and by far, Beach Realty was the best. The property was cleaned and well maintained. We did however need to suggest they consolidate the maintenance visits to one day per week and call before the visit, as we had quiet a few people coming and going the first week. However, Beach Realty was more than accommodating to help us resolve that issue expeditiously. The kids loved the pool table, the shuffle board, the horse shoes, the basketball net, and of course, the pool. We had some brutal days of sun and heat so we were so happy to have the shaded areas to recreate. We recommend the Sailfish and Beach Realty highly.

Disappointed with our stay. The inside of the house was nice and roomy. The outside was not maintained or cleaned at all. I had to clean the outside of the house myself due to all the spider webs and spiders, down right creepy. Never encountered this problem in other trips to the outer banks with other rental properties. The house has potential but needs to be power washed. The walk to the beach was a little long for me but was good exercise.

TERRIBLE bugs were all in the house. The house was very out dated and so are the pics online.The furniture inside is all outdated and needs replacing. Also we have guys just show up and start working on the roof for 5 hrs also throwing shingles off the house to the trash can were someone could of been hit. We will not be coming back ever!!!!!

We recently rented The Sailfish through Beach Realty. This was not our first time on the Outer Banks (previously stayed in Nags Head and Rodanthe) but it was our first time in Duck and our first time with Beach Realty. First off, we loved Duck. It is a quaint, quiet town -- not a ton of commercial attractions, but instead a wonderful well-laid out town. Being a bit off-season (i.e., prior to Memorial Day), the town was not crowded and traffic was light. The house was wonderful. It was clean and probably had the most well-stocked kitchen that I have ever encountered in a rental home. There are no worries here -- if you want to cook to save a bit of money, you have everything at your fingertips (i.e., ever imaginable pot and pan, crock pot, toaster, cheese grater, measuring cups, baking sheets, muffin pans, etc.) -- I'm a huge foodie and they had more stuff than even I do. The beds were comfortable and everything listed in the description was accurate. The only thing I was unable to locate was the playstation and the dartboard (but I could have missed them). Location was perfect -- you can see the Sound from the decks and the ocean is a short walk up the street.We loved the decks and the pool area -- the decks could do with a bit of updating as there were some loose nails and splinters, but nothing major. The house is pet-friendly and we brought our two Boston Terriers. You could not even tell that there had ever been another dog in the house and the furniture and carpeting was in good shape. The furnishings in the main part of the house are a bit dated, but very comfortable.Dealing with Beach Realty was a pleasure -- they were very responsive and answered all questions. Check-in was a breeze (we left before they opened on Sunday morning) but we stopped in during the week to pre-reserve the house for next year and they were very professional and instantly e-mailed us a receipt for the deposit. We had a great time at The Sailfish. The house was spacious enough for all of us and the big great room on the main floor was great for everyone to be together. The only issue we had was there was a storm and that storm made the pool very dirty which was a downer. The rental agency got it taken care of though. One other thing to note is that all the bathrooms require you to walk in a bedroom for use. This was not an issue for us as we were close family but was a little strange of a layout. The house is great location, close to everything and a short walk to the sound or the ocean.

Our week was wonderful in that the weather was fabulous and our house had plenty of space. It was a perfect location as well with a short walk to the beach and access to the main road and the trail through Duck. However, we found the home not as clean as we would have expected (dead bugs literally hanging above the stove) and with a little TLC, the place could be so much more comfortable and accommodating. It lacked towel hooks in the bathrooms and there was no can opener in the entire place for example. We did buy a can opener and we were kind enough to donate it to future vacationers.

We had decided we would like to return to the Duck area as we had visited three years before. We have stayed in the Outer Banks probably 15 times or more in the last 20 years. This property had everything we needed and it seemed to be several hundred dollars less than other comparable properties. We were a diverse group with my wife and I in our mid 60s, my son, daughter and their spouses in their early 40s, grandsons 21,20,17,and 15; and a grandaughter age 8. Because of this we needed things that appealed to lots of different interests. The pool was great, and believe it or not everyone enjoyed the shuffleboard. The 3rd floor room with futons became a popular hangout for the older boys. The boys also rented bikes to get back and forth to town. The town of Duck is not as busy as other parts of OBX but there were things to do. Our stay was in late May/early June and some of the activities had not started yet. As far as complaints there are only a few minor issues. Two of the bed mattresses were uncomfortable and probably needed replaced. One of the couches in the great room was pretty hard. Some minor outdoor maintenance issues like spot painting, gate hinges could use some attention (just like my home) but I am really searching hard to identify problems. We have stayed in more upscale houses, and we also paid more money. Overall I think we got a lot of house for the money. It was roomy and had many features.

This house Is infested with spiders, water bugs and roaches. I have never seen so many bugs in one place. When we arrived, the lawn and weeds were severely overgrown and it honestly looked as if no one had been there for weeks. We immediately called the office and someone was sent the next day to spray for bugs but it still didn't help. The amenities in the house are great but I wouldn't recommend staying here until the issues I mentioned are resolved.

When we arrived the home smelled clean and the carpets seemed new. The kitchen was filled with everything you would need for your stay (blender, electric flat grittle, toaster, Crock pot, etc.). The only thing we did notice is that there wasn't a place to put our dry groceries (pantry) which left us with a counter full of bags and boxes. The air conditioner wasn't working on the 3rd floor or master bedroom on the 1st floor when we arrived. We called the office and a maintenance man arrived within a few hours and fixed the problem. The house also didn't have a basket ball which was a disappointment to our sons. At the end of the week a man showed up with a brand new basket ball for them to use. There are 4 bathrooms in the home but all are connected to a bedroom, so there are no common baths for someone to use unless they enter through a bedroom. The TV's were confused using to use. You had to learn the remote which usually didn't work without a few minutes of figuring it out. It would have been helpful to have directions by each television. The pool was crystal clean when we arrived and the hot tub was nice and warm. We liked that we could control the temperature of the water. We had 3 deer visit the property one morning. We rented 4 bikes from a local bike rental company. We had 3 deer visit the property one morning. We also rented bikes from Duck Cycle (about $7 a day per bike). The bikes were delivered before our arrival and they picked them up after we left. We enjoyed riding them into town to Duck Doughnuts and to the beach for fishing and swimming. This was a relaxing and fun filled vacation that our family will never forget!

this is a nice home but it is in need of some TLC when compared to other properties that we have rented, deck space is limited, with no usable covered deck spaces, which would have been nice during our stay (tropical storm Bonnie) the interior is nice and furnishings are ok, floor plan is a little goofy but manageable. the pool is nice however there was no maintainance done during our stay and pool sure could have used a good vacuuming thanks to the storm. Orevall this property didn't rate well with us, after 5 or vacations thru beach reality this was not the best bang for the buck... the location is not bad, its within a short walk to the beach, though the views are nothing to brag about.I would not rent this property again, while it did meet our needs, we have rented other that were better.

We love this rental. We had a wonderful time.
The owners need to secure the railing on the deck just outside the living room sliding doors - it’s shaky. Also the carpets could be cleaned deeply. One bedroom with a double bed just off the dining room had no frame on the bed. The mattress and box springs were on the floor and the parts of the frame were placed around the room including some in the closet. This should be fixed. The pool didn’t get cleaned until Wednesday. The hot tub was leaking from the deck down to the ground floor grates under the deck. We spoke to the pool person and she said she would have that checked. Our shower curtain liner in bottom bedroom was slightly moldy. The previous tenants had placed a box on top of the recycling bin and it was never picked up even after we removed it. So we weren’t able to recycle. All the deck railings need to be painted. Also regarding the pool, apparently the dirt at the bottom of the fence surrounding the pool will leak into the pool when it rains. The cement area by the fence should be cleaned before every tenant moves in - until that problem is resolved. This according to the pool maintenance person - I mean it’s grubby in one area particularly. Having said all this , we do love the place! I think the upstairs area with futons could also use curtains so there is an option to block the sun and heat. There is only one thermostat for the house. Noticed filters and vents a bit dusty and one vent on dining area ceiling had a bit of moisture damage around it. Hope owners will resolve these issues. The place is cozy and full of room - just needs a very good cleaning of carpets and vents etc. we really enjoyed our stay. The big open area of kitchen, dining and living room is very enjoyable!

This according to the pool maintenance person - I mean it’s grubby in one area particularly. Having said all this , we do love the place! I think the upstairs area with futons could also use curtains so there is an option to block the sun and heat. There is only one thermostat for the house. Noticed filters and vents a bit dusty and one vent on dining area ceiling had a bit of moisture damage around it. Hope owners will resolve these issues. The place is cozy and full of room - just needs a very good cleaning of carpets and vents etc. we really enjoyed our stay. The big open area of kitchen, dining and living room is very enjoyable!

We love this rental. We had a wonderful time.The owners need to secure the railing on the deck just outside the living room sliding doors - it’s shaky. Also the carpets could be cleaned deeply. One bedroom with a double bed just off the dining room had no frame on the bed. The mattress and box springs were on the floor and the parts of the frame were placed around the room including some in the closet. This should be fixed. The pool didn’t get cleaned until Wednesday. The hot tub was leaking from the deck down to the ground floor grates under the deck. We spoke to the pool person and she said she would have that checked. Our shower curtain liner in bottom bedroom was slightly moldy. The previous tenants had placed a box on top of the recycling bin and it was never picked up even after we removed it. So we weren’t able to recycle. All the deck railings need to be painted. The Sailfish house wAs unkept, Beach Realty was non responsive to complaint, they sent texts but too k no action. A miserable stay. Dirty couches, horrible mattresses, cobwebs, roaches, filthy filters which they would not replace, etc. only bright thing was pool was clean. NEVER AGAIN!! The first day we needed a replacement coffee maker and the rental company was awesome, we had it within hours. The location is great, right between the sound and the ocean, just a short walk to the beach. The pool was great, very clean. It was really nice having outdoor seating on the porches. The hot tub looks a little worn, but I was not interested in getting in, so it was fine with me. Terrible start. The house was dirty, and stunk so bad. Bugs were caked in all the window sills and doorways. Bug smashed on every wall of the house. Floors hadn’t been vacuumed. Fridge was barely cold. Air didn’t work on the lower level. Hot tub not working. Pool was filthy at the bottom. Broken pool chairs. Broken deck chairs. Microwave had several burned/melted spots. Dishes in sink dirty, and in cabinets dirty.

The location of the property was good with the beach being within walking distance. The property was overall a disappointment though, the house needs a good deep cleaning. The carpet and couches were noticeably dirty. The kitchen cabinets are run down with one handle falling off. We also had problems with the house being cold on the bottom floor and no thermostat available to remedy this. The house is very large and can certainly accommodate a large group of people easily. The maintenance company was great and came out quickly to fix the handle on a toilet. The property management company was ok depending on who answers the phone, some were great and others seemed to be bothered by our call. Overall, our stay was ok but we would never stay at this property again because we feel that we did not get our moneys worth.

The photos on Airbnb looked great; however, when we got there I wouldn't say the pictures spoke to reality. The house is in bad condition and smelled like mildew. The furniture is dated, worn, and stained. I've stayed in many Airbnb properties that were pet friendly, none of them were in such bad condition. Airbnb lists the house as "waterfront." The house barely has a view of the sound. This house is NOT waterfront. The management company was good. The house did not have many pots and pans and so they brought us some the second day of our visit. Until the owners clean and update the property, I'm not likely to recommend it to anyone. And please change the property status on airbnb from waterfront to sound view.

Very nice house. Alittle hassel getting everything to the beach with children . The yard had needle like brisel balls all over , that stuck to your shoes and pants that would track all through the house. We constantly had to vaccum up or they would stick in your feet and really hurt. We also seen 2 big roaches in the house. Over all we had a nice stay. Next time we would like closer to the beach but the price was great for the house.

The house is a good size and furniture has been updated. The air conditioning needs to be addressed. The kitchen/meeting area got up to 78 degrees in the evening when the thermostat was set at 68 degrees. It was cold in bedrooms, but if we turned it up it would have been unbearable in meeting area. The pool was wonderful cleaned mid week. Location was perfect, just a short walk to beach. Staff was wonderful at coming right out, but couldn’t do much for air. We didn’t have enough forks and they had more out to us before the next meal. We had a wonderful time.
