A perfect place in the very heart of downtown Jerusalem
I am a frequent visitor to Jerusalem and have stayed in this excellent building many times before. but this time, I got particularly lucky and found Jack's placefor a two-week stay . It's a lovely 1BR 1BA, but unlike 95% of the apartments of this modern apartment building, this one has a HUGE terrace.
The building couldn't be more centrally located. The pedestrian mall on Ben Yehuda Street is steps away, as is the Machne Yehuda Market. Like to do your shopping a little more modernly? There's a full supermarket IN the building on the side that opens to Jaffa Street where the tram runs to the Old City and beyond.
The apartment is on the small side, but WAY better than a hotel room for a couple. A family or very good friends could make it work. The kitchen is well equipped and there are kosher options available. There's no dishwasher, but really, how much cooking do you really do in these places?
You enter into the main living space, with the kitchen opening up to it on the right, before coming to a small dining table, then a living room equipped with a big futon, a bed-convertible chair, a coffee table and a credenza with a 4K HDTV with plenty of cable TV choices. Jack even left a long HDTV cable out so I could stream my usual shows. The Wifi was strong and consistent.
Beyond the living room is the terrace, at least 10' by 12' with an expandable glass outdoor table with four comfortable chairs. And despite being on the fourth floor (the way Americans count floors), when you shut the balcony door all the noise is shut out as well.
The bedroom is small but functional with a comfortable bed that seemed just a bit shy of queen-sized. The bathroom was clean and everything worked perfectly.
So here's what I'd say. It's not the height of luxury, but it is very clean, comfortable, and couldn't be in a more central location. Jack is a great host, responsive but not intrusive.
I highly recommend this apartment. I will be back.

Pros: This is a very nice apartment. Very roomy. Nice bathroom. A kitchen big enough to actually cook in. Lots of pillows for once. Great location. We were able to walk to most places.
Cons: The owner really speaks very little english. This leads to a lot of problems in communicating clearly. For example: This is a one bedroom apartment. Not two, as is listed on the ad. The owner believes that because there are two places to sleep, it is a two bedroom. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and the living room with a futon. I asked him to clarify on a message beforehand. He responded that the apartment "has a large bed 2 places and in the living room a sofa 2 places." We stayed in six places total through various sites like VRBO, Tripadvisor, and Booking.com. His is the only Ad to list a living room as a bedroom because you can sleep in it. Parking. No-where does it say you have to request the parking spot ahead of time but that is the case. It just lists it as available, that it costs money, that it is private. We had even messaged him when we booked and asked if we could keep our car in the parking spot longer than check-out time. On the day of check-in we find out we don't have a place to park the car because we didn't request the spot and because it was Shabbat, we couldn't park there until Sunday. We then had to go to a huge amount of trouble to return our car to the airport and get back to Jerusalem on time and we showed up to find out it was a one bedroom. We have two teenage boys who are too big to share a bed. After understanding that I was rather upset, Jack did finally offer to let us out of the booking but we were stuck. It was Shabbat and we had returned our car, we had all our luggage so we were stuck with the apartment . My boys suffered through four nights of a very lumpy futon. The futon is NOT comfortable. It is a futon. Not a sofa bed. Patio: Nice and large but dirty. The patio furniture had not been cleaned in a long time. Cable TV: In the five other vacation rental places we stayed at, there was a basic subscription of channels that offered just enough variety for those times we needed to rest. Jack might as well as cancel what he did subscribe to it was so minimal.
In summary, Jack was nice enough. The apartment itself was clean, large, and in a great location. Beware what he writes unless you speak French or Hebrew. Most of the misery was caused by communication issues.

Excellent location, lovely apartment
Two minutes to Machane Yehuda market for the freshest produce and yummiest baked goods you can find in the whole city.
Very quiet even though it is close to so many things including a five minute walk into downtown.
Easy access to Jaffa Rd for the light rail to Old City and Central Bus Station. A very large nicely-furnished balcony for soaking up the sun is a wonderful feature.
Very thoughtful owner, who had snacks and drinks ready for us at check-in. Much appreciated for a night time arrival. He took the time to show me everything in the apartment and explain how everything works.
I strongly recommend the apartment , and I look forward to staying there again.
