. The fantastic view from the room
. The excellent beach
. The privacy
. The design of the hotel
. The food, oh my god!
You must know what you are getting into before booking because it is a scam.
However, this could be the most wonderful place in the world if it was actually a 5 star hotel.
First of all, this hotel is a scam. 5 stars means 5stars and it is definately not 5. Maybe 2 or 3 star hotel. But it is the king of 2 star hotel.
It is not 5 stars because:
. No T.V.
. No telephone
. No refrigarator
. No tissue in the bed room (they gave us food tissue)
. No 24 hours room service desk
. No pool (the pool is very small just for show)
. No gym
. No menu for the food
. The rooms have a lot of small bugs
. No meat (only seafood and chicken)
. No water bottles, just filter water
Besides that, the nearest acceptable coffee shop or restaurant is 40 minutes away in tangalle.
Also, the manager stands next to you and your wife at each and every meal talking, asking questions, giving suggestions, touching you on the back of your shoulders, and he is an old man so you cant tell him to go away which make things even harder to deal with. I have talked to my driver mr chamee to deal with him.
When the sun set, you better close all the lights because bugs will come in searching for the lights. Even if you stay awake, there is nothing you can do (LITARALLY NOTHING NOT EVEN THE BEACH IN FRONT OF YOU)
About the no menu for the food, I will explain it because I know it is strange.
They give you pen and paper and ask you to write everything in food you like
(of course you have no time to do that since you have lot of thing to do as a traveler)
and every thing you dont like(of course you can't name every food, spice, drink that you are allergic to or you don't prefer and you dont want this hassle)
It is like doing school homework
Don' get me wrong though, the food here is 10 out of 10. The big problem is with the serving of the food which is guranteed to give you headach. They have a wonderful taste for food.

A unique experience with the discovery of the real Sri Lanka far from tourists ! just with lovely local people, lovely staff who are here to make you feel comfortable. Amazing culinary experience (we finally had local food , fine dining ).
They offered us the Honeymoon suite and it was an incredible place !
As it’s located in the heart of nature maybe too much insects for me but if you love nature you will definitely fall in love with this place !

Controversial feelings from our stay.
As the hotel through Booking should have been a 5 Star facility with Spa, Bar etc, that was exactly what we were hoping for. But in the real life, unfortunately, after analyzing our stay there we should say: it is not exactly the hotel, more like apartments with additional dining service. And that is why.
The Spa and bar were not there. There is no room service as we are used to speaking about the hotel: no one changes towels or come to clean your room, which gets pretty messy with all the insects and sand in it.
We were given the other room as booked (without sunbathing Terrasse, although it costs more per Booking) without explanation.
The Stuff does not speak english enough to communicate about any problems or wishes of the guests.
The ATM is not working, so we needed to go to the center to take cash money out to pay from the stay (which was also an adventure, taking into account the big amount of needed-to-be payed).
The room we got was much older, as it looked on the photos.
There is no possibility to ask for a wine or prosecco or beer during the dinner, as it is just not available in the hotel, the stuff asked for cash money to go to the local shop and bring us the bottle. Which is also bit questionable for 5 star facilities.
For 860.80 USD for 4 nights it feels reasonable to ask from the hotel a bit more.
BUT! To help solving our problems and talking to us, the father of the owner of the hotel came, he was also surprised to learn, that hotel is showed as 5 star hotel on Booking, he meant they provide 5 star eating experience, not the 5 star service. So would be perfect from the booking side to look into the situation.
And the stay in general still has still become a warm memories for us because of extraordinary nature.

This was so much more than just a stay, it felt like an experience! We’ve never stayed somewhere where we’ve felt so well looked after. The staff are the most conscientious I’ve come across, and clearly genuinely care about their hotel and your stay in it. We were, inexplicably, the only guests there and felt like VIPs - it feels like a secret, off the beaten track place which definitely deserves more attention.
ROOM:
We had booked a terrace room because I liked the look of the outdoor tub, but were given the ocean view junior suite. I was really pleased with this - it’s a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed and wonderful balcony overlooking the sea and all of the birds flying around the garden and shore. You’d be hard pressed to find a hotel room closer to the beach, and the sound of the waves crashing is wonderful.
FOOD:
We were taken aback with the effort and care that goes into the food. We sat down to our lunch after we arrived and were surprised with three courses of a huge selection of dishes. This continued throughout our stay; we tried a lot of new Sri Lankan food and juices and enjoyed it all. The portions are very generous - it’s impossible for you to go hungry. Even when we checked out we were presented with a bag of sandwiches to keep us going on our bus ride!
For each meal our table was set up in a different place outdoors, which was such a lovely touch.
ACTIVITIES:
The hotel offered some complimentary activities which were very thoughtful and we really enjoyed. We joined local fishermen and helped haul in their nets on the beach (and hopefully weren’t too much of a hindrance!) and had a cycle tour through the village and rice paddies, full of birds and monkeys. We went for a walk at sunset to a lovely picnic waiting for us. Finally, we had the most wonderful dinner experience I’ve ever had, on the beach: a fire was lit, our table was lit with lanterns and we ate a delicious BBQ under the stars.
No dislikes, I’ve just run out of room above…
LOCATION:
I came across the hotel because I didn’t fancy doing the 6-7 hour bus ride from Weligama to Ella, so found it when looking on the map along the coast. It is the perfect place to break up a journey, get truly off the beaten path (we saw no other tourists) and relax. The village is beautiful and the hotel and the rice paddies it is next to are full of nature. From here we had a very simple bus ride (direct bus) up to Ella which took about 3 hours.
STAFF:
As I’ve said above, it is a joy to stay somewhere where the staff care so much. They are incredibly attentive and friendly right up past check out; they drove us to the nearby town and made sure we got on the right bus.
All in all it was a very special place to stay. It was a treat for us, but we both agreed that considering the room, attention and the extras we got, that it was very good value. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
