We have been loving this camp and the pond for over 25 years. Sharing it with our children as young teens and now as adults, and grandchildren !
We cannot say enough wonderful things about this lakefront destination. Spacious, comfortable, welcoming, close to any forgotten or needed supplies, a few steps to the cleanest pond, able to have the boat we rented at the dock, wonderful neighbors...
A very special home away from home minus any stress :)

The location is lovely. Unfortunately, the weather we had was consistently not great, so we were pretty bummed. We were also a little surprised at the state of the place for the price. We understand a few things needing a fix/refresh, though there were several on the list. Communication with the hosts was great as there were several things that weren't ready for us when we arrived which they took care of quickly. Our toddler was thrilled by the bunk beds and had so much fun in the yard and we saw a couple loons and were able to kayak a couple times and see the stars the last night. Also grateful for the kind and conscientious neighbors. Next time hopefully the sun will shine more and we can swim without shivering!

Beautiful property well cared for and on the pristine Embden Pond. Can’t imagine vacationing anywhere else.

Our third year staying here with four generations of our family (newest addition - 6 month old, most senior person - great grandmother). The addition of the 36" Blackstone griddle this year was a game changer for meal time. Could cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for 8-10 people at the same time with easy clean up!
We brought an air conditioner for the one room without one, otherwise, every amenity was just as we needed.
The newly built dock worked to secure our boat as well as having ample space to lounge by the lake for those wanting to stay ashore.
Hosts are responsive and very delightful to speak and work with if anything comes up. Would recommend to any family looking for a relaxing time on a beautiful Maine lake.

Thank you so much for having your place available for the solar eclipse! We were able to experience totality, and it was amazing! Perfect view from the deck!
Check in and out were super easy. Great communication with the hosts, and quick responses to all my questions leading up to our stay, since there was a Nor'Easter headed that way. The views of the pond were great! Quiet road, at least for us during winter time. The house had all the utensils and cookwear we needed, water pressure was great! Thank you again for sharing your place with us!

Awesome shorefront, firepit right by the water, dock for a boat or jetski, and a nice big yard! The camp is big with lots of beds, 2 bathrooms, and they do have air conditioners, which was nice!

This is our fourth summer vacationing at this property and we just love it. Already booked again for next year. Beautiful view of the lake from the front porch to just sit and enjoy the quiet, peaceful mornings. Plenty of room if you have a large family. Mark and Pat are wonderful.

We’ve been to the Paine cabin many times. We love the location, the large size of the cabin, conveniences like dishwasher and two bathrooms. We also love the large yard for family gatherings. And the JetSki lift makes it very convenient to use our JetSki daily!!

We rented for a week and had six adult children, two with partners, and a grandmother, 10 in all. There was plenty of bedrooms and beds for everyone to have their own space. The kitchen was well supplied, the firewood was plentiful and Mark was prompt in getting back to us by text with any question we had. We had a boat and were able to have it on the dock all week. The lake is beautiful and the water crystal clear. It was a delightful week for everyone.

This was my 4th visit and, once again, I can't say enough. The check-in process is flawless, the camp is clean, ready, and welcoming.
I use the camp for my ski vacations at Sugarloaf and the drive to and from the mountain is relaxing and just the right distance to get ready for a great day on the mountain in the morning and to unwind afterward. It is also close to relatively close to Skowhegan, Madison, and even Farmington for groceries or anything I might have forgotten.
All in all, the camp a great place to stay.

It was beautiful! We loved every relaxing moment of our stay. We were a little apprehensive about the cleanliness of the place, but it’s a camp what do you expect. I wiped down just about everything when we got there for “Covid” reasons, but all in all decent place. Would recommend and would stay again!

We stayed for a week in February to relax and do a little ice fishing. Mark’s cabin was warm and comfortable. He was helpful and accommodating which made out stay enjoyable. Even the neighbors were helpful (one drilled holes in the ice for us) and friendly. We hope to be back...maybe in warmer weather.

Fantastic place, plenty of amenities.
Fully stocked from kitchen to play time.
Beautiful yard and fire pit.
Super clean lake.
Fishing was a little rough but that's why it's fishing and not catching.
All in all would definitely recommend Marks place to friends and family.

Property description said there was one queen size bed. There were no queen size beds. Also mattresses should be replaced. Condition of dock was questionable with broken planks And large gaps which made it unsafe for children. Deck had missing banisters with small children could fall through. Needs repair.

Great location on scenic Embden Pond. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable for six of us and had room for more guests. Pictures are a little dated but property is as advertised. Had a great week!

Camp is as advertised. Comfortable, clean, and fully equipped. Lakeshore is great. Kids swam a lot. Good view. Owner is very responsive and helpful.

This is an older family camp and is very comfortable. Had more than enough beds for our group of four. We added some hangers to the closets and bowls to the kitchen, since the camp was short on these. Mark was very responsive to our inquiries, and thanks to Seth & Becca for giving us a cruise around the lake in their boat. Great place and great family. Oh, and gorgeous sunsets!

We had an amazing week! There were 3 adults and 6 boys ranging from 10 months to 12 years old. This house accomadated everyone! Our biggest concern when renting a lake house is the swimming. It was perfect, the water is crystal clear, and with water shoes the small rocks on the beach are no problem. The dock is huge and the boys spent hours jumping into the water and fishing off it. At night we made s'mores in the water side fire pit. During the day we grilled food on the deck and relaxed by the water. We did have some rain while there but the abundance of games in the house helped pass the time. Biggest bonus for my sister and myself was the Nintendo hahaha, brought back some funny childhood memories on the rainy days! Overall we loved the house, and the area. The neighbors are super nice and helpful. we had a quick, fierce storm come through that lead to some water in the basement and lots of hail! The neighbors came running to help immedately, which says a lot about the owner of the house (he's super nice and very accommodating!) Mark (owner) once notified, said he'd be there as fast as he could (lives within a couple of hours) but we told him not to worry. With the neighbors quick response and the flip of the sump pump water was gone. (Water is not normally a problem but we had such an intense storm, also not normal, lead to some water in the basement. Which in no way had an impact on where we were in the house at all, we just wanted to help) There is a grocery store not far and place to buy adult beverages too! Everything was in the house that you could think of, from linens to those wicker paper plate holders which helped a ton when serving 6 hungrey boys outside! There is a fun local zoo about 45 min drive which the kids loved if looking for fun things to do. Again we loved this place and will hopefully be back in the future! You won't regret staying here, all you take from it are wonderful, lifelong memories! 😊

My wife and I spent the first days of July at this very comfortable home / camp. No agenda other than to find someplace on a lake that would let us both just unwind for a couple of days. Could not have been happier than to have connected with Mark, the owner.
Mark was easy to find in the couple of conversations leading up to our visit and a wealth of information of the area. Mark even met us upon arrival to show us around and answer any questions. Made us feel very welcome right from the first contact.
The place is built for outdoor entertainment from the large deck / picnic tables to the sizable screened-in porch to the fire pit to the well secured dock. Spent hours reading on the dock and enjoying the tremendous views. We got a great fireworks show from all the people around the "pond" on the 4th and we never had to leave the dock.
Embden Pond is really a lake. Water quality / clarity is great and the water is about 5' deep at the end of the dock. Bottom will begin to drop off a short ways from the dock, but lots of room from the shore to the end of the dock for little ones to play.
Groceries easy to find right in Embden. Another option is a larger grocery store about 5 miles north on Rt. 201 as you enter the town of Bingham (Jimmy's).
Well equipped and roomy kitchen. Had most of our meals at the house. Hard to beat an omelet on the screened in porch while looking at the water! The grill was certainly a part of a couple of our dinners as well.
Scenic drives no matter which way you wander. This is small town Maine all around Embden and we loved it.
Did go to Madison (the larger town south of Embden on Rt. 201) one evening to see a show at the Lakewood Theater - Maine's longest running theater of 115 years. The show was a lot of fun (changes fairly frequently). Great restaurant located right across from the theater that had a nice "adults dinner" feel to it. Food and service were excellent.
Finding the theater was confusing for a couple of minutes, but we were winging it. If you go, look for Theater Rd right off of Rt. 201. Theater Rd is a right at a small golf Pro Shop with carts visible in the front. When we first turned onto Theater Rd we thought "this can't be right". A short distance on the road and it opens up to reveal it's own compound right on a pond.
Highly recommend renting from Mark. Our days went by much too quickly and we look forward to visiting again.
